A MNSM( mirror neuron system mechanism)-based controller is developed to present the swimming rhythm of a snake-like robot in Cartesian space. From engineering viewpoint,the proposed controller is composed of a neuron for rhythm angle and two neurons for motion knowledge in XY plane. The given knowledge is a rhythm curve for swimming motion of a snake-like robot. Experimental results show that the proposed controller can present the knowledge of swimming rhythm,which represents the corresponding control law to drive the snake-like robot to swim with different speeds and turning motion. This work provides a novel method to present the knowledge for swimming motion of snake-like robots.

A previously well 5-year-old boy presented with a 4-day his-tory of fever (39.2 °C) and spreading rash. His elder sister was diagnosed with a typical chickenpox two weeks ear-lier. The rash consisting of vesicles initially started on his head and spreaded to his body and limbs. On the third day of this illness, large erythematous maculopapular elements appeared on his left ear and lower legs and progressed into bullae 3–4 cm in diameter. Over the night, large eroded bul-lae were found on his inner thighs (Fig. 1a), body and upper limbs. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent essay performed on day 4 after the rash onset was positive for specific type 3 Varicella Zoster antibodies. Bacteriological examination of the bullae contents was negative. The patient was started on acyclovir. Healing of skin lesions occurred by day 11 of the disease (Fig. 1b). Bullous forms most frequently result from co-infection with S. pyogenes and S. aureus. (1)In the pre-sent case, no evidence of bacterial co-infection was found.

Introduction Myeloid sarcoma is a rare malignancy,a tumor mass of myeloblast or immature myeloid cells occurring as an extramedullary tumor often associated with or following acute myeloid leukemia or other myeloid neoplasms but rarely following myelofibrosis.It is difficult to make a correct diagnosis only based on clinical and histopathological findings in such cases due to its rareness.The treatment is based on the type of acute myeloid leukemia.In the present study,a rare case of cutaneous myeloid sarcoma associated with acute myeloid leukemia is reported,which may help to enhance the understanding of this disease.

Wilson disease is an autosomal recessive disorder of copper metabolism that can cause fatal neurological and hepatic disease if not diagnosed and treated. The youngest child with normal liver function reported so far is an 8-mo-old Japanese boy with low ceruloplasmin levels, and the youngest child with elevated aminotransferase ever reported so far is a 9-mo-old Korean boy with confirmed by genetic testing. Here we report an 8-mo-old Chinese boy presented with elevated liver enzymes, and low serum ceruloplasmin level. Genetic analysis of ATP7 B gene detected two heterozygous disease causing mutations(c.2621C>T/p.A874 V and c.3809A>G/p.N1270S), and parental origins were determined. Persistent elevation of serum aminotransferase in this infant was normalized after zinc therapy. To our best knowledge, this is the youngest patient with elevated liver enzymes ever reported worldwide. We hope that this will raise awareness among pediatricians, leading to earlier diagnosis, timely treatment, and better clinical outcome.

Rationale: Acute abdomen is a medical emergency that requires prompt diagnosis and management. Lymphoma is a rare cause of acute abdomen. Patient concerns: A 54 year old patient complained of repeated episodes of acute abdominal pain over the past 3 months. Diagnosis: Mantle cell lymphoma. Interventions: Chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation.Outcomes: Abdomen pain disappeared and the patient was discharged uneventfully. Lessons: Although it is a rare cause of acute abdomen, lymphoma should be included in the differential diagnosis workup of patients with unexplained and unusual acute abdomen.

Factors Associated with Delay in presentation of Symptomatic Cancers among HIV Infected Persons in Plateau State, Nigeria

There is increased incidence of cancer worldwide but much of the burden of morbidity and mortality will occur in the developing world because of cancer associated infectious diseases of which HIV infection carries a large proportion. Site-based studies show that proportion of late stage cancer presentation range between 60% - 92% in the last 10 years. There is paucity of information on reasons for the late presentation. This study is aimed to find out the factors associated with delay in presentation of symptomatic cancers among HIV infected persons in Plateau State, Nigeria. A mixed method study consists of quantitative and qualitative component. Participants were sampled from HIV infected persons diagnosed with cancer and referred to the Oncology unit. Variables on Patient and health service factors associated with late presentation of cancers were collected. Quantitative data was analyzed using Epi info version 3.5.3 and Microsoft Excel while thematic analysis was done for qualitative data. There were 503 respondents and the mean age was 48.7 ± 13.5 years. Male sex OR 2.5, (P = 0.002);Farming occupation OR 1.7, (P = 0.0005) and Primary education OR 2.0, (P = 0.0005) were associated with delay. Majority of respondents 349(69%) presented more than six months after onset of symptom. Common symptoms were pain 462(45.70%), swelling 237(23.44%) and skin discoloration 210(20.77). Their Initial reaction was mainly the use of alternative remedies 234(46.5) CI 42.1 - 51.0. Up to 274(54.47%) of participants obtained diagnosis 3 months after presenting to a health facility. Laboratory related issues 199(39.56%) and long booking time 163(32.40%) were the most common reasons for delay. Delay was found to be both patient and services related. The study also suggests that cancer symptom awareness is poor among the participants. There is no tangible cancer prevention program in the HIV/AIDs treatment program. A more in-depth knowledge of cancer is required for both the sufferer and the care giver.
