Platelets are reprogrammed by cancer via a process called education,which favors cancer *** transcriptional profile of tumor-educated platelets(TEPs)is skewed and therefore practicable for cancer *** intercontinental,hospital-based,diagnostic study included 761 treatment-naive inpatients with histologically confirmed adnexal masses and 167 healthy controls from nine medical centers(China,n=3;Netherlands,n=5;Poland,n=1)between September 2016 and May *** main outcomes were the performance of TEPs and their combination with CA125 in two Chinese(VC1 and VC2)and the European(VC3)validation cohorts collectively and *** outcome was the value of TEPs in public pan-cancer platelet transcriptome *** AUCs for TEPs in the combined validation cohort,VC1,VC2,and VC3 were 0.918(95%CI 0.889-0.948),0.923(0.855-0.990),0.918(0.872-0.963),and 0.887(0.813-0.960),*** of TEPs and CA125 demonstrated an AUC of 0.922(0.889-0.955)in the combined validation cohort;0.955(0.912-0.997)in VC1;0.939(0.901-0.977)in VC2;0.917(0.824-1.000)in *** subgroup analysis,TEPs exhibited an AUC of o.858,0.859,and 0.920 to detect early-stage,borderline,non-epithelial diseases and 0.899 to discriminate ovarian cancer from *** had robustness,compatibility,and universality for *** diagnosis of ovarian cancer since it withstood validations in populations of different ethnicities,heterogeneous histoiogical subtypes,and early-stage ovarian ***,these observations warrant prospective validations in a larger population beforeclinicalutilities.

BACKGROUND Minimal-fat angiomyolipoma(mf-AML)is often misdiagnosed as renal cell carcinoma before *** To analyze the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)features of mf-AML and the causes of misdiagnosis by MRI before *** A retrospective analysis was performed on ten patients with mf-AML confirmed by surgical pathology,all of whom underwent preoperative MRI examination to analyze the morphological characteristics and MRI signals of the *** MRI revealed a circular-like mass in 4/10(40%)patients,an oval mass in 6/10 patients(60%),a mass with a capsule in 9/10 patients(90%),and a mass with a lipid component in 7/10 patients(70%).The diameter of the masses in all ten patients was from 11 to 47 mm;the diameter was between 11 mm and 40 mm in 8/10(80%)patients and between 40 mm and 47 mm in 2/10(20%)*** An oval morphological characteristic is strong evidence for the diagnosis of mf-AML,while a capsule and lipids are atypical manifestations of mf-AML.

A 33-year-old woman, gravida 1, para 0, came to the hospital with the chief complaint of severe dysmenorrhea and infertility. Her menstrual cycle was regular, bleeding moderately for 3–5 days with an interval of 30 days. She was diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and received the left salpingectomy in September 2014. Intraoperative exploration showed a slightly enlarged retroverted uterus with a wide fundus and a normal right fallopian tube. As a further examination of infertility, hysterosalpingography was done in January 2016, which showed a unicornuate uterus （left） with an obstructed unilateral fallopian tube. She was referred to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in February 2016. Her basic body temperature showed biphasic pattern. The sperm test of her husband was normal. Physical examination indicated two vaginal orifices in the vestibule, with a vertical septate lying in between. The left lateral vaginal lumen could be easily expanded and speculated, and a normal cervix was seen at its top. In contrast, the cervix was unable to be seen through the right lateral vaginal lumen, which was narrow and difficult to be exposed or inspected. Pelvic ultrasound scan showed that the uterus was 4.7 cm ×6.0 cm × 3.6 cm in size, along with the Y-shaped endometrium of 0.8 cm in thickness, and a normal echo in the muscular layer. No abnormalities were found at the bilateral adnexa areas or pelvic cavity. Besides, the bilateral renal areas and ureters were found normal in the ultrasound scan as well.

Amyand＇s hernia refers to the presence of appendix within an inguinal hernia *** 1736,Claudius Amyand,a surgeon to King George Ⅱ,first reported this special type of inguinal hernia during a transherniotomy appendectomy of an 11-year-old boy with a right inguinal *** finding of a normal appendix within an inguinal hernia sac is not *** incidence is about 1%,whereas the presence of appendicitis within an inguinal hernia has an incidence of only 0.1%.1 Moreover,given the normal anatomical position of the appendix,most cases occur on the right side.

Three Inverted Meckel’s Diverticula Cases with Ileus Diagnosed preoperatively and Treated Laparoscopically

We have experienced three inverted Meckel’s diverticula with ileus that are diagnosed before surgery and treated with laparoscopic surgery. The patients were 22, 26, and 29 years of age. The history of ileus for each patient differed, being the first experience for one patient, the second for another, and the third experience for the remaining patient. None of these patients had a history of abdominal surgery. Conservative therapy eventually improved the existing symptoms, but the cause of past ileus remained unclear. Elective surgery was performed 12 days from the onset of symptoms on two of the patients after improving the ileus by inserting a long tube into the bowel. Emergency surgery was performed on the same day of admission on the remaining case that involved moderate expansion of intestine. In these patients, the first trocar was inserted into the umbilicus region. Laparoscopic surgery was then performed with three trocars. The patients were discharged upon favorable outcome after surgery. No recurrence of ileus was noted post-surgery. Laparoscopy was useful both to diagnose and treat ileus of a Meckel’s diverticulum.
