The opening sentence of Pride and prejudice left the deep impression on readers almost two centuries ago.As the author of Pride and prejudice,Jane Austen was one of the famous realistic writers in English literature in the nineteenth century.In Pride and prejudice Austen wrote four marriage types:ideal Elizabeth and Darcy,realizable Charlotte and Collins,felicitous Jane and Bingley,unhappy Lydia and Wickham.She pointed out emphatically economic consideration is the bonds of wedlock and love.She said marriage is not determined by property and family status;it is unwise to marry without money,but it is wrong to marry for money;the marriage settled by love is happy and ideal.

"Ambivalence" is a word which entered the language only in this century,the feminism reflected in Pride and prejudice is ambivalent.Not only was Jane Austen's novel composed almost 200 years ago,but in it she seems to attack love-as-attraction,a notion presupposed in the idea of emotional ambivalence,which is reflected from Austen' subconciousness,from the main themes of the novel,from the characters' modelling and from four marriages in the novel,which also boasts the significance of studying ambivalent feminism in literature.In addition,it manifests the limitations and awakening of feminist consciousness.The thesis also applies the influence of Jane Austen's ambivalent feminism in the field of literature.

Pride and prejudice is the masterpiece of Jane Austen.In her novel,through description of four marriages,Jane Austen expressed such views on marriage:marriages based on economics or superficial qualities such as lust,money,and appearance will inevitably lead to unhappiness,while those based on mutual understanding and true love will be happy and stable.

With globalization,cultural exchanges among various countries have become increasingly in-depth.As akind of art,films play an important part in cultural communication and exchanges,and because of the introduction of alarge number of foreign films and television shows,more and more audience need subtitle translations to help them un-derstand the plot and cultural connotation of those films.Skopostheorie focuses on the purpose of translation,which is basically consistent with the aim of subtitling translation in order to convey a more comprehensive cultural informationfor the audience with specific cultural background.Meanwhile this paper chooses the film Pride and prejudice to ana-lyze the characteristics of subtitle translation from the perspective of Skopos theory and to summarize the particulartranslation skills or strategies from this movie.
