Achieving accurate control of main steam temperature is a very difficult task in thermal power plants due to the large process lag (8 to 10 minutes) associated with the superheater system and there exists a deviation of ± 10 °C in closed loop control. A control oriented boiler model and an appropriate optimal control strategy are the essential tools for improving the accuracy of this control system. This paper offers a comprehensive integrated 8th order mathematical model for the boiler and a Kalman Filter based state predictive controller for effectively controlling the main steam temperature within + 2 °C and to enhance the efficiency of the boiler. It is proved through simulation that the predictive controller method with Kalman filter state estimator and predictor is the most appropriate one for the optimization of main steam temperature control as compared to other methods. This control system is under field implementation in a 210 MW boiler of a thermal power plant.

After the energy crisis in 1970s,buildings began to be used as a platform for the elements which produce energy from renewable energies to return them into energy producing power plants.This is a safe,clean and economic way to produce energy since the energy is produced where it is needed and they use renewable energy resources.So,it promises hope for the future energy production.Therefore,the aim of this study is to examine buildings which produce electricity by using renewable energy resources and to show that this is one of the safest,cleanest and most economic ways to be used to produce energy in the future.This is done by describing power plants and how buildings are used as power producing stations by the use of renewable energy resources or other energy producing materials,then by examining case studies which are constructed and already being used,case studies which are just a design that have not yet been constructed,and by making projections to the future energy producing techniques that are just a proposal in 2021.In the conclusion,buildings are proposed as the future power plants,either here on earth or on another planet like Mars.

Main problems existing in remote supervision and control system （RSCS） in power plants today in China are that various software and hardware platforms exist in the integration of all parts of RSCS. Implementation of data exchange with these traditional methods is not general-purposed, information and data are difficult to transverse firewall installed by enterprises because of the private protocols used in distributed object technology. A RSCS in power plants based on Web Services are presented in this paper. Architecture, operational pattern and main features of Web Services are expounded. 2 kinds of nodes are included in RSCS in power plants Based on Web Services. Data acquisition based on OPC, data encapsulation based on Web Services, publication of Web Services, and design of supervisory and control service system （SCSS） orienting remote clients based on Web Services are included in design of gateway connecting local and remote nodes base on Web Services. Remote clients exchange data with SCSS by browsers. SCSS data exchange between SCSS and Web Services gateway is implemented with services description files and SOAP message. Developed and designed RSCS is applied in the remote supervision and control for water level in drum of boiler in a power plant. Project practice shows that designed RSCS in power plants based on Web Services is stable and reliable in operation with high integrability and openness and is worthy of application and popularization.

Sustainable development is a new sort of practical model for international community to advance economic social development in the 21 century,which is the only way to achieve the new pattern of industrialization in China.Making sustainable development evaluation of power plants is a necessary step in sustainable development of power plants,which is a summarization of former performance,and it is the scientific basis for future developing emphasis and direction.Extension engineering method is a kind of practical method to solve the realistic illogicality.Sustainable development evaluation in power plants contributes to promoting sustainable development control of power plants in a more comprehensive and thorough manner,and it is significant for power plants’ economic benefit,exist and development.In this paper,multilevel matter-element analysis is applied to evaluate the sustainable development of power plants,and the system of evaluating indexes,together with analytical hierarchy process,is established scientifically to determine the weights of the indexes,which provides a new way for sustainable development evaluation in power plants,and illustrates some examples to explain that this kind of method has good application,and the analyzing result is reasonable.

The introduction of several small and large-scale industries,malls,shopping complexes,and domestic applications has significantly increased energy consumption.The aim of the work is to simulate a technically viable and economically optimum hybrid power system for residential buildings.The proposed micro-grid model includes four power generators:solar power,wind power,Electricity Board(EB)source,and a Diesel Generator(DG)set,with solar and wind power performing as major sources and the EB supply and DG set serving as backup sources.The core issue in direct current to alternate current conversion is harmonics distortion,a five-stage multilevel inverter is employed with the assistance of an intelligent control system is simulated and the optimum system configuration is estimated to reduce harmonics and improve the power quality.The monthly demand for residential buildings is 13-15 Megawatts.So,almost 433 Kilo-Watts(KW)of electricity is required every day,and if it is used for 8 h per day,50-60 KW of electricity is needed per hour.The overall micro-grid model’s operation and performance are established using MATLAB/SIMULINK software,and simulation results are provided.The simulation results show that the developed system is both cost-effective and environment friendly resulting in yearly cost reductions.

Flue Gas Water Recovery by Indirect Cooling Technology for Large-Scale Applications: A Review

With social development and economic enhancement,energy is facing significant worldwide demand,and fossil fuels are the prime energy sources for various energy systems over past decades.Furthermore,among fuel-consumed applications,power plants are the primary source of energy consumption.There is a lot of waste heat and steam accompanied by the latent heat produced in the exhaust flue gas.Therefore,the latent heat recovery from the flue gas plays an important role in increasing the efficiency of the system and saving water.To recover the heat and mass in power plants,three primary methods are proposed to condense the vapor based on previous studies:(1)flue gas condensation technology,(2)liquid desiccant-based dehydration(LDD)technology and(3)membrane technology.This paper mainly reviews and summaries the indirect cooling technology in flue gas condensation technology.The numerical simulation and theory of flue gas condensation are introduced.Different heat exchanger types and conducted experiments are also summarized.The performance of the indirect cooling technology is affected not only by its own configuration and design but also by the flue gas inlet temperature,velocity,water vapor mass fraction,etc.The major concerns and outlook of practical applications for further study are attributed to the heat exchanger size and cost,acid corrosion,ash accumulation in flue gas,etc.

The research proposes a simulation model combined with smart optimizer based onArtificial Intelligence techniques, in order to support service and maintenance of poolswithin Complex Systems, such as power plants or vessel/aircraft fleet.The authors propose an innovative methodology allowing the evaluation and theoptimization of service and maintenance policies in order to improve inventory management and scheduling operations within complex systems. This methodology is based onthe development of a simulator combined with an intelligent optimizer.The authors proposed a new metrics to evaluate the real performance of pool servicemanagement of the whole complex system and support the optimization processes.

In the coal fired power station, the regulation of the load or the sudden stop operation of the unit in accident may result in water hammer, which would have critical influence on the safety operation of the unit. In this paper the analysis of water dynamic characters and the calculation of the pressure increment were shown, when the water hammer was produced in the system.
