The Jurassic in the northern Qaidam basin is an independent petroleum system.To find high－ quality source rock is the key problem in exploration.The result of plate tectonics research shows that the Jurassic basin had been formed in an extensional tectonic stress field after the Indo－ China movement along northwest and northeast directions.It belongs to a kind of compound fault subsidence.The area,where the different direction subsidences overlapped,is the oil－ generating center,and also is the favourable exploration target.

The research was elaborated in Kafr El-Dawar area (Egypt northern region) to study the availability of the soil plant nutrients. The research introduced three parameters to comprehensively and carefully describe the availability of the soil plant nutrients: potentiality, gradient and anisotropy. potentiality defines the categories of soil ability to supply plant nutrients;meanwhile gradient expresses the increasing rate of the availability of the soil plant nutrients. The gradient anisotropy refers to the directions or orientation of the increasing rate of the availability of the soil plant nutrients. The introduced parameters enabled to spatially study the availability of the soil plant nutrients. Analytical data, of soil available phosphorus (P), indicated that P ranged from 0.2 ppm to 11.4 ppm to locate all studied soil samples into the low class of the soil nutritional P ability. This was not the case of available potassium (K), where the soil samples were distributed into three available K soil categories: medium, high, and very high. GIS map of soil P nutritional potentiality for plant (potato), displayed the soil studied area in one category, as low P soil nutritional potentiality to coincide with the analytical data classification. Contrary, the K map classified the soil studied area into three categories of soil K nutritional potentiality: medium, high and excessive. This obviously referred that the individual determination of soil K nutritional potentiality is misleading for interpretation of soil tests because it does care of the spatial distribution of soil available K. Nearly, all soil samples had high available micronutrients that they were located in the high category in both classification of analytical data and GIS maps. The present work deals with the mineralogy,geochemical behavior and uranium potentiality of the monzogranites of El Maghrbia area,which comprise G.El Maghrbia and G.El Eredyia and situated in the central Eastern Desert of Egypt.G.El-Erediya monzogranites represents a promising area for uranium mineralizations.These granites have shear zone filled with red and black silica veins containing many radioactive anomalies with visible yellow secondary uranium minerals.The shear zone is highly affected by different degrees of alterations such as silicification,kaolinitization,sassuritization and ferrugination.Monzogranites of El-Erediya area possess higher values of their radioactivity than in El Maghrbia monzogranites in which eU and eTh,reaches up to 792.3 and 66.81 ppm,whilst average content of eU and eTh in El Maghrabia granites are 3.86 and 8.55 ppm,respectively owing to the presence of radioactive minerals such as uraninite,uranothorite,uranophane,kasolite,betafite,zircon and monazite.Intensive geochemical analyses indicated that,the studied monzogranites are distinctly anomalous in U,where the average U is more than 620-fold the Upper Continental Crust(UCC),marked enrichment(> tenfold) of the elements Cd,Mo,Pb,Bi,Nb and W.The Th/U ratio decreases from 2.8,as a chondritic value,to 0.0023 for the studied granites,proposing extreme fractionation towards an extensive secondary migration-in of U.The Zr and Hf are depleted in the studied granites relative to the UCC,whereas Nb and Ta are strongly enriched.The content of Y is about sixfold enriched which reflects relative enhancement of the HREE during the alteration processes.Uranium correlates with Fe_(2)O_(3),suggesting a possible association between uranium and ferrugination.Thus,the occurrences of uranium are epigenetic by remobilization from the host rock to the sheared zones,probably through metasomatic process where U-Fe-Mg replaced the feldspars in an oxidized condition.The high levels of radioactivity in the rocks being studied it them a priority for discovery

Objective:Natural products of plant origin are potential source of novel antimicrobial and antioxidative agents.Thottea siliquosa(Lam.)Ding Hou.(T.siliquosa).A medicinal herb used by local tribals for treating various ailments.The present study aims at the phytochemical screening,GC-MS analysis,in vitro antibacterial activity and antioxidant potentiality of root and leaf extracts of T.siliquosa.Methods:Hot continuous Soxhlct extraction,GC-MS analysis,antibacterial analysis by disc diffusion,microdilution assay and antioxidant potentialities by hydroxyl radical and nitric oxide radical scavenging.The data was statistically analyzed.Results:Phytochemical screening of the ethyl acetate and methanolic extract of leaf and root revealed the presence of phenols,alkaloids,tannins and saponin.The extract revealed a pool of phytochemicals by comparison with authentic standards from spectral library.Both the extracts has shown their broad spectrum of inhibition against the selected bacteria Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumonia compared with standard antibiotic drug streptomycin.The extracts showed antioxidant activity by scavenging of free radicals such as hydroxyl and nitric oxide.The IC_(50)values of the ethyl acetate extracts leaf and root and standard in this assay were I67.5±0.67,99.4±1.2,192±2.5μg/mL respectively.Similarly those methanolic extracts of leaf and root were 269.5±0.89 and 289.1±2.66μg/mL respectively.Similarly,ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts also caused a moderate dose-dependent inhibition of nitric oxide with an IC_(50)range 65.5±1.55 to 148±3.09μg/mL.The inhibitory activities were found to be dose dependent.Conclusion:The present study provides evidence that ethyl acetate and methanol extract of leaf and root of T.siliquosa are potential source of natural antioxidants and bactericidal nature.It is essential that research should continue to isolate and purify the bio active components of this natural plant and use in drug discovery and development.

Soil samples from several forest areas in China were analyzed by X-ray powder diffractometry after mineral separation and enrichment. The density gradient separation method with sequential extraction by acetone-methylene iodide mixtures was applied for the separation of fine sand fraction of soil samples. The clay fraction (potentiality and buffering capacity against acidic precipitation were discussed.

The area to the southeast of the Western Desert of Egypt has been subjected to considerable development activities over the last few years. The development includes the cultivation of about 2260 km2 of the desert lands “the well-known Toshka Project”. The hydrogeological conditions of the area are subjected to detailed investigation based upon the construction of the water table maps, hydrologeologic cross-sections, pumping tests, aquifer geometry, and recharge-discharge relationship. The study revealed that the Quaternary and the Nubia sediments are the main water bearing layers in the area. The Quaternary aquifer is of limited potential and made of mixed sand with clay deposit ranges in thickness between 5 to 10 m. The Nubia aquifer is the oldest sedimentary formation and the main groundwater resources in the area. It is represented by multilayered of sand and silt exists generally under artesian conditions. It is composed of three water bearing horizons partially separated by two confining horizons and extends in thickness ranges between 70 and 230 meters. The thickness increases away from the high dam lake. The analysis of pumping tests of the aquifer indicated that its potentiality is increasing north of the High Dam Lake (HDL) whereas it decreases in the other direction. This is due to high hydraulic conductivity and aquifer thickness in the area northeast of Khor Toshka and at west of Garf Hussein. The hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer ranges between 12.73 and 0.9 m/day. The review of the changes in groundwater levels in the area showed that there is a drop in ranges between 1 and 14 meters in the last few years indicating that the extraction from the groundwater is much more higher that the replacement rate. Also, the analysis of the fluctuation of water levels of the HDL and the groundwater level indicated that the influence of water on groundwater level in the area is observed only at a distance less than 10 km from the lake shore line. Situation and Development Prospect of Uranium Resources Exploration in China

History of uranium exploration and the general situation of identified uranium resources in China are introduced briefly in the paper,and the feature of uranium resources is summarized as "a large number of deposits,good ore processing properties and centralized occurrence" which should be considered as the advantages.In accordance with the fact that the exploration level of uranium resources is quite low in China,it is pointed out that exploration investment must be intensified from now on to identify more uranium concentrated bases which occurring of middle to large size uranium deposit in order to meet the demand of natural uranium from nuclear power sector.Besides,major scientific and technological achievements on uranium exploration during the past fifty years are elaborated in the paper.According to the exploration ability and uranium resources potential in China,it is believed that uranium exploration can realize the goal of "getting break through both at home and abroad" and meet the requirement of nuclear industry to uranium resources in China by carrying out the uranium resources exploration strategy of "rooted in domestic and opening up abroad".

The overall goal of this study is to characterize and to evaluate the potential uses of clay mined in the Nzaou locality. The Mou sample is argillaceous texture and medium plasticity (Ip = 28.9). Kaolinite is dominant clay species (44.41%). It is associated with illite (9%). Quartz and rutile are the main non clay minerals. The CEC is 8.66 cmol+/kg. Organic matter is low (0.839%). Total shrinkage obtained by dilatometry at 1200°C is 9.26%. The chemical and mineralogical compositions have allowed using the ternary diagrams of Fabbri and Fiori that the MOU clay is favorable for glazed white stoneware (GWS) and for the production of clinker (KLK). Dondi typologies of ceramic tiles according to body color (mostly depending on the iron oxide content) and compactness (expressed by water absorption) have confirmed the use for the manufacture of the GWS and clinker. Classification always according to Dondi taking into account the rate of kaolinite, the fine fraction (°C will be vitrified. Flexural strength at 1200°C (16 MPa) does not correspond to the requirements of GWS or a clinker.
