The potential of polyphenols for treating chronic-degenerative diseases(particularly neurodegenerative diseases)is ***,the selection of the best polyphenol for each treatment,the mechanisms by which they act,and their efficacy are frequently *** this review,the basics and the advances in the field,as well as suggestions for using natural and synthetic polyphenols alone or in a combinatorial strategy with stem cell assays,are compiled and ***,stem cells exhibit several responses when polyphenols are added to their environment,which could provide us with knowledge for advancing the elucidation of the origin of *** also,polyphenols are being included in the innovative strategies of novel therapies for treating neurodegenerative diseases as well as metabolic diseases related to *** this regard,flavonoid compounds are suggested as the best natural polyphenols due to their several mechanisms for acting in ameliorative effects;but increasing reports are involving other *** if some facts limiting bioactivity prevent them from conventional use,some natural polyphenols and derivatives hold the promise for being improved compounds,judged by their induced *** current results suggest polyphenols as enhancers of stem cell therapy against the targeted diseases.

Increasing evidence suggests that food ingested polyphenols can have beneficial effects in neuronal protection acting against oxidative stress and inflammatory injury. Moreover, polyphenols have been reported to promote cognitive functions. Biotransformation of polyphenols is needed to obtain metabolites active in brain and it occurs through their processing by gut microbiota. polyphenols metabolites could directly act as neurotransmitters crossing the blood-brain barrier or indirectly by modulating the cerebrovascular system. The microbiota-gut-brain axis is considered a neuroendocrine system that acts bidirectionally and plays an important role in stress responses. The metabolites produced by microbiota metabolism can modulate gut bacterial composition and brain biochemistry acting as neurotransmitters in the central nervous system. Gut microbiota composition can be influenced by dietary ingestion of natural bioactive molecules such as probiotics, prebiotics and polyphenol. Microbiota composition can be altered by dietary changes and gastrointestinal dysfunctions are observed in neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, several pieces of evidence support the idea that alterations in gut microbiota and enteric neuroimmune system could contribute to onset and progression of these age-related disorders. The impact of polyphenols on microbiota composition strengthens the idea that maintaining a healthy microbiome by modulating diet is essential for having a healthy brain across the lifespan. Moreover, it is emerging that they could be used as novel therapeutics to prevent brain from neurodegeneration.

In this study the potential of cloud point extraction formed by a non-ionic surfactant was used in order to separate polyphenols from industrial residues of camu-camu. The effects of operational conditions of the cloud point extraction(CPE) on the polyphenol recovery and volumetric ratio were investigated. The results showed a maximum recovery of 95.71% that was obtained using 7.0 wt% Triton X-114, native pH(3.25), and 80 wt%polyphenol extract at 30 °C. The use of cloud point extraction was successful to recover the polyphenols from agroindustrial residue since it is a simple as well as of low-cost technique.

Influence of amphiphilic structures on the stability of polyphenols with different hydrophobicity

Autooxidation of five polyphenols representing range of different hydrophobicities(catechin gallate (CG),(-)catechin((-)C),epicatechin(EC),epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG)and epigallocatechin(EGC)) in three different aqueous solutions:molecular solution,micellar solution(Tween-20)and liposomal dispersion(soybean lecithin)was monitored by *** rate of oxidation of the five polyphenols was higher at pH 4.5 than at pH *** with the control,addition of Tween-20(micellar structure)and lecithin(liposomal structure)significantly decreased the degradation of *** the presence of lecithin the autooxidation of all the five polyphenols was slower than in the presence of Tween-20. The effective protection of the colloidal structures was compared with the hydrophobicity of the poly- phenols estimated from the partitioning between octanol and *** protection from oxidation in the presence of the colloidal structures(micellar or liposomal)increased with increasing partitioning of a polyphenol towards the hydrophobic *** protecting effect of the colloidal structures was more effective at pH 4.5 than at pH 3.5.

Growth performance,oxidative stress and immune status of newly weaned pigs fed peroxidized lipids with or without supplemental vitamin E or polyphenols

Background:This study evaluated the use of dietary vitamin E and polyphenols on growth,immune and oxidative status of weaned pigs fed peroxidized lipids.A total of 192 piglets(21 days of age and body weight of 6.62±1.04 kg)were assigned within sex and weight blocks to a 2×3 factorial arrangement using 48 pens with 4 pigs per *** treatments consisted of lipid peroxidation(6%edible soybean oil or 6%peroxidized soybean oil),and antioxidant supplementation(control diet containing 33 IU/kg DL-α-tocopheryl-acetate;control with 200 IU/kg additional dl-α-tocopheryl-acetate;or control with 400 mg/kg polyphenols).Pigs were fed in 2 phases for 14 and 21 days,***:Peroxidation of oil for 12 days at 80°C with exposure to 50 L/min of air substantially increased peroxide values,anisidine value,hexanal,and 2,4-decadienal *** peroxidized lipids decreased(Ppolyphenols,increased(P≤0.002)serum vitamin E by 84%and 22%for control and peroxidized diets,respectively(interaction,P=0.001).Serum malondialdehyde decreased(P0.05).Total antioxidant capacity decreased with peroxidation(Ppolyphenols(P=0.046)for the control oil diet *** cytokine concentrations increased with feeding peroxidized lipids on day 35,but were not affected by antioxidant supplementation(P>0.05).Conclusion:Feeding peroxidized lipids negatively impacted growth performance and antioxidant capacity of nursery *** of vitamin E and po

Sesquiterpenes and polyphenols with glucose-uptake stimulatory and antioxidant activities from the medicinal mushroom Sanghuangporus sanghuang

A chemical investigation on the fermentation products of Sanghuangporus sanghuang led to the isolation and identification of fourteen secondary metabolites(1-14)including eight sesquiterpenoids(1-8)and six polyphenols(9-14).Compounds1-3 were sesquiterpenes with new structures which were elucidated based on NMR spectroscopy,high resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS)and electronic circular dichroism(ECD)*** the isolates were tested for their stimulation effects on glucose uptake in insulin-resistant HepG2 cells,and cellular antioxidant *** 9-12 were subjected to molecular docking experiment to primarily evaluate their anti-coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)*** a result,compounds 9-12 were found to increase the glucose uptake of insulin-resistant HepG2 cells by 18.1%,62.7%,33.7%and 21.4%at the dose of 50μmol·L^(-1),*** 9-12 also showed good cellular antioxidant activities with CAA_(50)values of 12.23,23.11,5.31 and 16.04μmol·L^(-1),*** docking between COVID-19 M^(pro)and compounds 9-12 indicated potential SARS-CoV-2 inhibitory activity of these four *** work provides new insights for the potential role of the medicinal mushroom *** as drugs and functional foods.

Efficacy of tea polyphenols(TP 50) against radiation-induced hematopoietic and biochemical alterations in beagle dogs

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the radioprotective ef fect of tea polyphenols(TP 50)against radiation-in duced organ and tissue ***:Beagle dogs were exposed to a single acute dose of whole-body y-radiation(3 Gy)and orally administered TP 50(80 or 240 mg·kg-1·d-1)for 28 consecutive days.A hemogram was obtained from experimental dogs every other day for 42 *** the end of the experiment,enzyme activities of the antioxidants superoxide-dismutase and glutathione peroxidase,serum levels of inflammatory cytokines(tumor necrosis factor-a,interleukin-1β,and interleukin-6),colony-forming units of bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor cells,and organ coefficients were ***:Dogs exposed to γ-radiation alone exhibited typical hematopoietic *** contrast,irradiated dogs that received TP 50 exhibited an improved blood profile with reduced leucopenia,thrombocytopenia(platelet counts),and reticulocyte *** 50 also significantly elevated levels of the endogenous antioxidant enzyme superoxide-dismutase,reduced the increased levels of serum cytokine in response to radiation-induced toxicity,and increased colony-forming units of bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor *** addition,TP 50 repaired radiation-induced organ ***:The current findings suggest that oral administration of TP 50 to beagle dogs effectively alleviated hematopoietic bone marrow damage induced by y-radiation.
