High-Performance 3D Li-B-C-Al Alloy Anode and its Twofold Li Electrostripping and plating Mechanism Revealed by Synchrotron X-Ray Tomography

The uncontrollable Li electrostripping and plating process that results in dendritic Li growth and huge volume change of Li anode limits the practicality of Li metal batteries(LMBs).To simultaneously address these issues,designing three-dimensional(3D),lithiophilic and mechanically robust electrodes seems to be one of the cost-effective strategies.Herein,a new 3D Li-B-C-Al alloy anode is designed and fabricated.The prepared 3D alloy anode exhibits not only superior lithiophilicity that facilitates uniform Li nucleation and growth but also sufficient mechanical stability that maintains its structural integrity.Superior performance of the prepared 3D alloy is demonstrated through comprehensive electrochemical tests.In addition,non-destructive and 3D synchrotron X-ray computed tomography(SX-CT)technique is employed to investigate the underlying working mechanisms of the prepared alloy anode.A unique twofold Li electrostripping and plating mechanism under different electrochemical cycling conditions is revealed.Lastly,improved performance of the full cells built with the 3D alloy anode and LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)cathode corroborate its potential application capability.Overall,the current work not only showcases the superiority of the 3D alloy as potential anode material for LMBs but also provides fundamental insights into its underlying working mechanisms that may further propel its research and development.

BACKGROUND For the treatment of distal clavicle fractures,each treatment method has its own advantages and disadvantages,and there is no optimal surgical solution.CASE SUMMARY Based on this,we report 2 cases of distal clavicle fractures treated utilizing an anterior inferior plate with a single screw placed in the distal,in anticipation of providing a better surgical approach to distal clavicle fracture treatment.Two patients were admitted to the hospital after trauma with a diagnosis of distal clavicle fracture,and were admitted to the hospital for internal fixation of clavicle fracture by incision and reduction,with good postoperative functional recovery.CONCLUSION With solid postoperative fixation and satisfactory prognostic functional recovery,this technique has been shown to be simple,easy to perform and effective.

plating the radial shaft on the lateral surface: An outcome study

Purpose:Plate fixation is the gold standard for the treatment of displaced forearm shaft fractures in adults. Conventionally radial shaft fractures will be plated either on the volar surface or on the dorsal surface depending on which approach has been chosen. The lateral surface of the radius provides an even and uniformly curved area for placing a plate. It has the advantage of restoring and easy assessing the radial bow after surgery. We designed a prospective study to observe the outcome of lateral plating of radius shaft fractures.Methods:Nineteen patients were included in this study performed in Government Medical College, Jammu, India. Among them, 13 had fractures of both the forearm bones and 6 had isolated radial shaft fracture. Three patients had Galeazzi fracture dislocation. Fixation was done within 36 h of injury in all using 3.5 mm limited contact dynamic compression plate or locking compression plate applied to the lateral surface of the radius. Ulna was fixed in routine manner.Results:Union was achieved in 18 out of 19 patients, after a mean time of 17.44 weeks. According to Anderson et al.'s criteria, 12 patients had excellent results, 5 had satisfactory and 1 had unsatisfactory result. There was one failure (nonunion).Conclusion:The outcomes including rate of union were comparable to those in the existing literature. plating the radial shaft on the lateral surface is a viable alternative to volar or dorsal plating of the radius. Larger studies with randomized data are needed to assess whether it has any superiority over other existing techniques.

Virtual instrument for monitoring process of brush plating

A virtual instrument(Ⅵ) was developed to monitor the technological parameters in the process of brush plating, including coating thickness, brush-plating current, current density, deposition rate, and brush plating voltage. Meanwhile two approaches were presented to improve the measurement accuracy of coating thickness. One of them aims at eliminating the random interferences by moving average filtering; while the other manages to calculate the quantity of electricity consumed accurately with rectangular integration. With these two approaches, the coating thickness can be measured in real time with higher accuracy than the voltage-frequency conversion method. During the process of plating all the technological parameters are displayed visually on the front panel of the Ⅵ. Once brush current or current density overruns the limited values, or when the coating thickness reaches the objective value, the virtual will alarm. With this Ⅵ, the solution consumption can be decreased and the operating efficiency is improved.

Electroless plating of Ni-Zn(Fe)-P alloy on carbon steel sheets

The autocatalytic deposition of Ni-Zn(Fe)-P alloys were carried out on carbon steel sheets from bath containing nickel sulfate, zinc sulfate, sodium hypophosphite, sodium citrate and boric acid. The effects of pH and mole ratio of NiSO4/ZnSO4 on the deposition rate and the composition of deposit were studied. It is found that the presence of zinc sulfate in the bath has an inhibitory effect on the alloy deposition. As a consequence, the mole fraction of zinc in the deposits never reaches high value, which is less than 18.0%. The structure and surface morphology of Ni-Zn(Fe)-P coatings were charactered by XRD and SEM. The alloys plated at all conditions consist of amorphous phase coexisting with a crystalline cubic Ni phase. The surface morphology of coating is dependent on the deposition parameters.

Optimizing Electroless plating of Ni-Mo-P Coatings Toward Functional Ceramics

Ni-Mo-P coatings are obtained at the surface of ceramic substrate by electroless deposition using palladium as a surface catalyst.The influence of catalyst activation conditions on coatings’ properties was assessed by structural,morphological,electrical,mechanical measurements and adhesion strength by using X-ray diffraction,field emission scanning electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy,Hall effect and nanoindentation techniques,respectively.The results indicated the formation of dense,continuous and uniform coatings consisting mainly of Ni.The coatings obtained at 300℃for 12 h exhibited the best electrical properties,namely resistivity of 9.32 μΩ cm,smaller roughness(Ra 0.090 μm) and average mechanical properties.The adhesion tests showed a firm adherence of the Ni-Mo-P coatings to the ceramic surface.The results of this study could offer an approach for obtaining conducting ceramic substrates in order to be employed in photovoltaic applications.The performance of demonstrative heterojunction solar cell obtained with such metallized ceramic is indicative of the high potential of the Ni-Mo-P electroless coatings for functional ceramics.

Wear-resistance and anti-scuffing of multi-arc ion plating molybdenum films

The multi-arc ion plating technology was employed to prepare the molybdenum films with thickness of 3 μm on the AISI 1045 steel. The wear and scuffing tests were carried out on the ball-on-disc tester. AFM and SEM equipped with EDS were adopted to observe and analyze the morphologies and element compositions of surface,cross-section and worn scar of the Mo film. The phase structure was studied by XRD and the bonding strength between Mo film and substrate was measured by scratching tester. The tribological experiments show that the Mo film possesses a good wear-resistance and an excellent anti-scuffing property. The failure mechanism of Mo film under extreme condition is flaking off.

Effects of Binary Mixture of Yb_2O_3-La_2O_3 on Pd/Ag Co-Deposition by Electroless plating

The binary mixture of Yb2O3-La2O3 was used as an additive to improve the traditional electroless plating for Pd-Ag co-deposition on the inside surface of a porous ceramic tube. The main attention were paid to investigating the effects of Yb2O3-La2O3 on Pd-Ag co-deposition rate, plating temperature, Ag content in film and Pd/Ag reduction potentials. The experimental results show that the co-deposition rate is increased by 63%, the plating temperature is decreased by 10～20 ℃ for obtaining the same co-deposition rate and the Ag content in film basically remains unchangeable when Yb2O3-La2O3 is added into the traditional electroless plating solution. The experiment also shows that Pd/Ag reduction potentials basically remain unchangeable with the binary rare earths based on the electrochemical mathematical models An inorganic composite membrane with alloy film of 76.8(mol)% Pd-23.2(mol)% Ag and the thickness of 7.7 μm on the porous ceramic tube was prepared and the permeation fluxes of hydrogen and nitrogen through the membrane are 8.65×10-3 and 1.92×10-6 m3·m-2·s-1 at 350 ℃ and 0.3 MPa respectively.

Study on Physical and Chemical Behaviors of Rare Earths in Preparing Ceramic Tube Supported Palladium Film by Electroless plating

The rare earths of ytterbium, lanthanum, praseodymium, neodymium and their binary mixtures were respectively added into the traditional electroless plating solution to prepare thin palladium film on the inner surface of porous ceramic tube. The experimental results shows that the addition of rare earths increases palladium deposition rates and the binary mixtures are superior to the single rare earths and the mixture of ytterbium-lanthanum is the most efficient. Adding the mixture of ytterbium-lanthanum can also reduce the plating temperature by 10～20 ℃, shrink the metal crystal size and improve the film densification compared to those by traditional electroless plating. A thin palladium film with 5 μm was prepared and the film made a highly pure hydrogen with a molar fraction of more than 99.97% from a H2-N2 gas mixture. More attentions were paid to analyze the physical and chemical behaviors of the rare earths in palladium film preparation.
