In a context of climate change exacerbated by the increasing scarcity of fossil fuels, renewable energies, in particular photovoltaic solar energy, offer a promising alternative. Solar energy is non-polluting, globally available and the most widely distributed resource on Earth. However, the intermittency of this energy source considerably limits its expansion. To solve this problem, storage techniques are being used, in particular, electrochemical storage using lithium-ion batteries. In this article, we will evaluate the performance of lithium-ion batteries when integrated into a photovoltaic grid. To do this, modelling and simulation of a photovoltaic system connected to a lithium-ion battery storage system will be carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software. A diagnostic of the energy consumption of the Kaya Polytechnic University Centre will be carried out, and the data will then be used in the simulator to observe the behaviour of the PV-Lion system. The results obtained indicate that lithium-ion batteries can effectively meet the centre’s energy demand. In addition, it was observed that lithium-ion batteries perform better under high energy demand than the other battery technologies studied. Successive storage systems with the same capacity but different battery technologies were compared. It was found that these storage systems can handle a maximum power of 4 × 105 W for lead-acid batteries, 6.5 × 105 W for nickel-cadmium batteries, 8.5 × 105 W for nickel-metal-hydride batteries, and more than 10 × 105 W for lithium-ion technology.

Purpose: This paper aims to point out the scientific development and research density of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic, wind, and biomass, using a mix of computational tools. Based on this, it was possible to verify the existence of new research trends and opportunities in a macro view regarding management, performance evaluation, and decision-making in renewable energy generation systems and ***/methodology/approach: A scientometric approach was used based on a research protocol to retrieve papers from the Scopus database, and through four scientometric questions, to analyze each area. Software such as the Science Mapping Analysis Software Tool(Sci MAT) and Sci2 Tool were used to map the science development and ***: The scientific development of renewable energy areas is highlighted, pointing out research opportunities regarding management, studies on costs and investments, systemic diagnosis, and performance evaluation for decision-making in businesses in these *** limitations: This paper was limited to the articles indexed in the Scopus database and by the questions used to analyze the scientific development of renewable energy *** implications: The results show the need for a managerial perspective in businesses related to renewable energy sources at the managerial, technical, and operational levels, including performance evaluation, assertive decision making, and adequate use of technical and financial ***/value: This paper shows that there is a research field to be explored, with gaps to fill and further research to be carried out in this area. The photovoltaic sector in Morocco is a serious option for the future. The integration of this type of energy into the grid has a considerable effect on the adequacy of the grid. The objective of this work is to assess the reliability of the Moroccan power grid at the hierarchical level I (HLI: load coverage under the assumption of infinite node) using a non-sequential Monte Carlo simulation in which photovoltaic generation is introduced. In order to lead such a study, a model was used in order to calculate the hourly solar radiation and to determine the time evolution of the electrical power produced by photovoltaic power plants. Finally, we also compared the impact of both PV and wind generations in terms of adequacy of the Moroccan electrical supply.

There are actually several solutions for two axis solar tracking systems using electromechanical devices, in which a controller detects the Sun apparent position, and controls the position of the structure supporting the panels toward the sun by enabling the engines movement. This work studies the solution of two axis solar tracking system based on solar maps, which can predict the exact apparent position of the Sun, by the latitude＇s location, thereby avoiding the need to use sensors or guidance systems. To accomplish this, it is used a low-power microcontroller, suitably programmed, to control two electric motors to ensure that the panels supporting structure is always oriented towards the sun.

In the global context of diversification of usable energy sources, the use of renewable energies, in particular solar photovoltaic energy, is becoming increasingly important. As such, the development of a new generation of photovoltaic cells based on the CIGS material is promising. Indeed, the efficiency of these cells has exceeded 20% in recent years. Thus, our work consists in the modeling of a tandem solar cell based on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CGS/CIGS). The goal is to optimize its physical and geometrical parameters in order to obtain a better photovoltaic conversion efficiency compared to other research works on tandem in the past. We used AMPS-1D software for the simulation. When we realize the tandem, the least efficient cell (CGS) imposes the current and the shape of the J-V characteristic of the tandem. We obtained a theoretical efficiency of 39.30% which is significantly higher than the efficiencies obtained in the past by other researchers with a short circuit current of 34.60 mA/cm2, an open circuit voltage of 1.74 V and a form factor of 65.20%. The simulation also showed that the high defect density in the material strongly impacts the performance of the tandem.
