The optical control ability of photonic crystal fiber(PCF)is a distinctive property suitable for improving sensing and plasma *** article proposes a dual-core D-channel PCF sensor that can detect two samples simultaneously,which effectively solves the problems of coating difficulty and low wavelength *** PCF has four layers of air holes,which dramatically reduces the optical fiber loss and is more conducive to the application of sensors in actual *** addition,by introducing dual cores on the upper and lower sides of the central air hole,reducing the spacing between the core and the gold nanolayer,a stronger evanescent field can be generated in the cladding air *** optical fiber sensor can detect the refractive index of two samples simultaneously with a maximum sensitivity of 21300 nm/*** the best of our knowledge,the sensitivity achieved in this work is the highest sensitivity with the dual sample synchronous detection *** detection range of the refraction index is 1.35-1.41,and the resolution of the sensor is 4.695×10^(-6).Overall,the sensor will be suitable for medical detection,organic chemical sensing,analyte detection,and other fields.

This paper presents a theoretical study on a photonic crystal fiber plasmonic refractive index biosensor. The proposed photonic crystal fiber sensor introduces the concept of simultaneous detection with the linearly polarized and radially polarized modes because the sensing performance of the sensor based on both modes is relatively high, which will be useful for selecting the modes to make the detection accurately. The sharp single resonant peaks of the linearly polarized mode and radially polarized mode, are stronger and more sensitive to the variation of analyte refractive index than that of any other polarized mode in this kind of photonic crystal fiber. For linearly polarized mode and radially polarized mode, the maximum sensitivities of 10448.5nm per refractive index unit and 8230.7nm per refractive index unit can be obtained, as well as 949.8 and 791.4 for figure of merits in the sensing range of 1.33-1.45, respectively. Compared with the conventional Au-metalized surface plasmon resonance sensors, our device is better and can be applied as a biosensor.

We report a supercontinuum source generated in seven-core photonic crystal fibers（PCFs） pumped by a self-made all-fiber picosecond pulsed broadband fiber amplifier. The amplifier＇s output average power is 60 W at 1150 nm with spectral width of 260 nm, and its repetition rate is 8.47 MHz with pulse width of 221 ps. With two different lengths of seven-core PCF, different output powers and spectra are obtained. When a 10 m long seven-core PCF is chosen, the output supercontinuum covers the wavelength range from 620 nm to 1700 nm, with the output power of 11.7 W. With only 2 m long seven-core PCF used in the same experiment, the wavelength of the supercontinuum spans from 680 nm to 1700 nm,with the output power of 20.4 W. The results show that the pulse width is 385 ps in the 10 m long seven-core PCF and 255 ps in the 2 m long one, respectively, due to the normal dispersion of the PCF.

Filter characteristics of a designed gold-filled high birefringence photonic crystal fiber are investigated based on the finite element method. The wavelength filter resonances in the high birefringence photonic crystal fiber occur at different points for different polarized directions, and the resonance strength in the x-polarized case is much weaker than that in the y-polarized case. The much more obvious splitting filter characteristics and different resonance strength imply the study and application values in splitting and single polarization fiber devices. The simulation results show that increasing the number of the gold wires only enhances the resonance strength when there is no surface plasmon supermode formed. With the diameters of the gold wires increasing, the response wavelength moves to a longer wavelength, and the strength becomes stronger. When the diameter is increased to 1.4 μm, the response wavelength in the x-polarized case can be tuned to 1.318 gin, which is the communication wavelength. The strongest resonance occurs at 1.2375 μm in the y-polarized case, and the peaking loss can reach 435.83 dB/cm.

A high sensitivity plasmonic temperature sensor based on a side-polished photonic crystal fiber is proposed in this *** order to achieve high sensitivity and high stability,the gold layer is coated on the side-polished photonic crystal fiber to support surface plasmon *** mixture of ethanol and chloroform is used as the thermosensitive *** performances of the proposed temperature sensor were investigated by the finite element method(FEM).Simulation results indicate that the sensitivity of the temperature sensor is as high as 7.82 nm/℃.It has good linearity(R;=0.99803),the resolution of 1.1×10;℃,and the amplitude sensitivity of 0.1008℃;.In addition,the sizes of the small air hole and polishing depth have little influence on the ***,the proposed sensor shows a high structure *** excellent performance and high structure tolerance of the sensor make it an appropriate choice for temperature measurement.

We demonstrate a cost effective, linearly tunable fiber optical parametric oscillator based on a home-made photonic crystal fiber pumped with a mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser, providing linely tuning ranges from 1018 nm to 1038 nm for the idler wavelength and from 1097 nm to 1117 nm for the signal wavelength by tuning the pump wavelength and the cavity length. In order to obtain the desired fiber with a zero dispersion wavelength around 1060 rim, eight sam- ples of photonic crystal fibers with gradually changed structural parameters are fabricated for the reason that it is difficult to accurately customize the structural dimensions during fabrication. We verify the usability of the fabricated fiber experimen- tally via optical parametric generation and conclude a successful procedure of design, fabirication, and verification. A seed source of home-made all-normal-dispersion mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser with 38.57 ps pulsewidth around the 1064 nm wavelength is used to pump the fiber optical parametric oscillator. The wide picosecond pulse pump laser enables a larger walk-off tolerance between the pump light and the oscillating light as well as a longer photonic crystal fiber of 20 m superior to the femtosecond pulse lasers, resulting in a larger parametric amplification and a lower threshold pump power of 15.8 dBm of the fiber optical parametric oscillator.

High power supercontinuum generation has witnessed rapid developments during the past few years. The mecha- nism and the latest achievements in high power supercontinuum generation are reviewed both for the continuous wave pump regime and the pulsed pump regime. The challenges in scaling the average power of supereontinuum generation are analyzed. Some of our works on high power supercontinuum generation are summarized, and perspectives for the future development are discussed.

In this paper, we propose an optical quantization scheme for all-optical analog-to-digital conversion that facilitates photonics integration. A segment of 10-m photonic crystal fiber with a high nonlinear coefficient of 62.8 W-1/kin is utilized to realize large scale soliton self-frequency shift relevant to the power of the sampled optical signal. Furthermore, a 100-m dispersion-increasing fiber is used as the spectral compression module for further resolution enhancement. Simulation results show that 317-nm maximum wavelength shift is realized with 1550-nm initial wavelength and 6-bit quantization resolution is obtained with a subsequent spectral compression process.
