Cacao(Theobroma cacao L.)produces the cocoa bean,a major foreign exchange earner for most West African countries and many smallholders’*** production of cacao is however limited by declining yield among other *** study aimed at determining the correlations of the phenotypic traits that were related to the yield of the cacao *** new cacao hybrids were produced from some high-yielding parents in the research farm of Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria,Ibadan and evaluated from 2012 through 2014 in Owena(7°11′N,5°1′E),Ondo state,*** of variance,character correlations and path coefficient analysis were used in the analysis of the relationships among the *** of variance revealed significant(p≤0.05)variations for number of rows,weight of beans per fruit,fresh weight of one bean,weight of one bean after fermentation,pod value,dry bean length,weight of beans(per fruit)after fermentation and pod *** study concluded that significant genotypic and phenotypic correlations existed among some of the pairs of the fruit and bean characters with one another and with pod index,suggesting that the contribution of these characters is either positive or negative to growth and yield in the cacao genotype,and that fruit and bean traits are determinants of bean yield in cacao.

[Objective] The paper aimed to analyze genetic diversity and genetic relationship of large fruited tomato core germplasms based on genotypic value.[Method] Taking 55 large fruited tomato core germplasms as tested materials, the genetic diversity of seven agronomic traits was analyzed, and the correlation between traits and genetic relationship between germplasms were analyzed based on genotypic effect value.[Result] The diversity indexes of seven agronomic traits were 3.98, 3.97, 3.99, 3.99, 3.97, 3.98 and 3.87, respectively, indicating there were rich genetic diversities in large fruited tomato core germplasms. Correlation analysis of traits was conducted based on genotypic effect value. The results showed that there was extremely significant positive correlation between leaf length and leaf width, and the correlation coefficient was 0.66. There was extremely significant positive correlation between fruit length and fruit width, with a correlation coefficient of 0.49. There was extremely significant positive correlation between weight per fruit and fruit width, with a correlation coefficient of 0.46. The genetic distance between large fruited tomato core germplasms was calculated based on the phenotypic value of traits. When the distance was 5, 55 large fruited tomato core germplasms were divided into three groups. The genetic distance between large fruited core germplasms tomato was calculated based on genotypic predictive value of traits. When the distance was 10, 55 large fruited tomato core germplasms were divided into six groups. Comparing the results of two clustering analysis, it was found that the clustering analysis based on genotypic value could better explain the genetic relationship between germplasms.[Conclusion] The results could provide some basis for understanding the population variation of large fruited tomato and genetic improvement of tomato cultivars.

Conventional triple therapies for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori ) eradication have recently shown a disappointing reduction in effectiveness in many countries. The main reason for failure was found to be bacterial resistance to one of the most commonly used antibiotics, clarithromycin. An additional problem for conventional triple therapy is the high rate of resistance to metronidazole found in Europe, America and Asia. In Italy, in the last 15 years a 2-fold increase in resistance has occurred. A recent study of the whole of Italy included about 20 patients from each region at the first endoscopic diagnosis of H. pylori infection. The most surprising result was the patchy distribution of resistance, which was almost absent in two regions (one northern and one southern), although the highest prevalence was found in some regions of the South. In the paediatricpopulation we found a 25% prevalence of resistance in a sample of H. pylori positive children observed between 2002 and 2007, mirroring data obtained in southern European countries. Clarithromycin resistance assessment is currently based on phenotypic detection performed after culture the agar dilution method or E-test, and genotypic methods based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In a recent comparative study we found a 71.2% agreement between the two methods. Culture-free techniques are highly accurate in finding even minimal traces of genotypically resistant strains. Moreover, PCR-based tools are accurate in detecting a heteroresistant status, defined as the co-existence of some strains that are susceptible and some resistant to the same antibiotic in an individual patient. Three point mutations, namely A2143G , A2142G and A2142C , are responsible for 90% of cases of primary clarithromycin resistance in H. pylori strains isolated in Western countries, although we previously demonstrated that the presence of the A2143G mutation, but not A2142G or A2142C , significantly lowered the H. pylori eradication rate

Objective: To determine the phenotype variability associated with the specific C-terminal M-line titin mutation known to cause autosomal dominant distal myo pathy, tibial muscular dystrophy (TMD; MIM 600334), and limb girdle muscular dys trophy 2J (LGMD2J). Methods: Three hundred eighty-six individuals were genotype d for the Finnish founder mutation in titin (FINmaj) causing TMD/LGMD2J. Results : Two hundred seven patients were heterozygous for the mutation. Among these pat ients, 189 (91%) had a more common phenotype compatible with the classic descri ption of TMD. However, 18(9%) had unusual phenotypes such as proximal leg or po sterior lower leg muscle weakness and atrophy even at *** patients were c onfirmed homozygotes representing the LGMD2J phenotype. These homozygotes were h alf of the eight LGMD patients previously described in the original large consan guineous kindred. Conclusions: Large variability of phenotypic expression caused by just one mutation, the Finnish FINmaj, suggests that no certain phenotype of myopathy/dystrophy can be excluded from being caused by mutated titin. Yet unkn own homozygous or compound heterozygous titin mutations without phenotype in the heterozygote carriers may be responsible for undetermined recessive MD and LGMD .
