Organophosphate is a commonly used pesticide in the agricultural *** main action of organophosphate focuses on acetylcholinesterase inhibition,and it therefore contributes to acute cholinergic crisis,intermediate syndrome and delayed *** sporadic case series to epidemiologic studies,organophosphate has been linked to hyperglycemia and the occurrence of newonset diabetes ***-mediated direct damage to pancreatic beta cells,insulin resistance related to systemic inflammation and excessive hepatic gluconeogenesis and polymorphisms of the enzyme governing organophosphate elimination are all possible contributors to the development of newonset diabetes *** date,a preventive strategy for organophosphatemediated new-onset diabetes mellitus is still ***,lowering reactive oxygen species levels may be a practical method to reduce the risk of developing hyperglycemia.

Analysis of Emerging Contaminants in Surface Water,Aquaculture Ponds and Wastewater Treatment Facilities in the Taige Canal Basin

Emerging contaminants(ECs)have aroused great concerns due to their widespread presence as well as their potential health and ecological *** monitoring data about ECs in Chinese rural areas are still *** this study,Taige Canal basin was selected as a typical rural area for a pilot *** occurrence of ECs,including pharmaceutical and personal care products(PPCPs),pesticides,plasticizers and flame retardants,in surface water and aquaculture ponds,as well as in wastewater treatment facilities,was comprehensively *** effectiveness of rural decentralized wastewater treatment facilities and centralized wastewater treatment plant(WWTP)in removing ECs was also *** 126 commonly used pesticides for target analysis,25 compounds were detected in surface water with high frequency of>80%.Besides,55 PPCPs,21 pesticides and 18 other industrial products were identified by non-target analysis using high resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS).Totally 18 compounds were detected in surface water with a frequency of>60%and 6 of them were found in all samples,including irbesartan,valsartan,propazine,buprofezin,bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DEHP)and tri-(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate(TCPP),with mean concentrations of 3022,195,125,218,3738 and 545 ng/L,*** are 29 compounds(11 PPCPs,8 pesticides and 10 other industrial products)detected in water samples from the aquaculture ponds,of which 13 compounds were found in all three *** removal efficiencies of ECs in wastewater treatment facilities are generally limited,except valsartan(82%–86%),nobiletin(100%)and diisodecylphthalate(100%)were found to be significantly removed.

Influence of pyrolysis temperature on rice straw biochar properties and corresponding effects on dynamic changes in bispyribac-sodium adsorption and leaching behavior in soil

Bispyribac-sodium is a weakly acidic herbicide with high water solubility and is thus a potential source of groundwater *** the risk inherent to the use of this herbicide,this study assessed the impacts of rice straw(RS)and biochar amendments on the adsorption and leaching behavior of bispyribac-sodium in *** were produced from RS at different pyrolysis temperatures and characterized using various spectral *** straw had a surface area of 3.996×10^(4)m^(2)kg^(-1),which increased under pyrolysis;biochars prepared at 350 and 550℃(RS350 and RS550)in a closed furnace with limited oxygen supply had a surface area of 5.763×10^(4)and 6.890×10^(4)m^(2)kg^(-1),respectively,and biochar prepared by purging the pyroformer with N2(RSC)had the highest surface area of 12.173×10^(4)m^(2)kg^(-1).After amendment with RS and biochar,soil Freundlich adsorption capacity(KF ads)increased to varying extents in the order RSC>RS350>RS550,from 2.89×10^(3)to 29.57×10^(3)mg^(1-1)/nkg^(-1)L1/n,compared to1.55×10^(3)mg^(1-1)/nkg^(-1)L1/nin unamended *** variability in KF ads of bispyribac-sodium amongst the RS-and biochar-amended soils was dependent on the surface area of the *** desorption of bispyribac-sodium decreased in the RS-and biochar-amended soils and varied from90.45%to 95.20%in unamended soils and from 60.95%to 89.50%in amended *** adsorption and desorption of bispyribac-sodium varied significantly depending on its concentration and the type and application rate of soil *** leaching risk evaluation indices,viz.,modified leach index(***),leach index(LEACH),groundwater ubiquity score(GUS),Hornsby index(HI),leaching index(LIN),and pesticide leaching potential(PLP)index,were used to assess the susceptibility of groundwater to herbicide *** reduce the repetitive effects of common parameters in each index,a new index was developed by employing principal component analysis(PCA)to condense their infor

Objective:To green synthesize and characterize copper nanoparticles(Cu NPs)using Astragalus sinicus,as well as evaluate the acaricidal,larvacidal,and repellent activities of Cu NPs against Hyalomma anatolicum(***),one of the most prevalent ticks infesting cattle in Saudi ***:Cu NPs were green synthesized by adding the Astragalus sinicus extract to a copper sulfate *** acaricidal,larvicidal,and repellent activities of Cu NPs against *** were assessed via the adult immersion test,the larval packet test,and the vertical movement behavior of tick larvae,*** effects of Cu NPs on acetylcholinesterase as well as oxidative enzyme activities were ***:The green synthesized Cu NPs displayed a spherical form with a size range of 15-75 *** exposure of adult *** to different concentrations of Cu NPs,the viability rate of adult *** and the mean number,weight,and hatchability of eggs were noticeably reduced,in comparison to the control group(P<0.001).In addition,the viability rate of larvae considerably declined(P<0.001)with the LC_(50)and LC_(90)values of 11.30 and 20.34μg/m L,*** maximum repellent activity of Cu NPs was observed at 50,100,and 200μg/m L with complete repellent activity after 60,120,and 180 min of exposure,*** NPs,mainly at 1/2 LC_(50)and LC_(50)concentrations,markedly suppressed the acetylcholinesterase activity of the larval stage of ***(P<0.001).Moreover,Cu NPs,mainly at LC_(50)dose,significantly elevated malondialdehyde level while declining glutathione-S-transferase level in *** larvae(P<0.001).Conclusions:Cu NPs show potent acaricidal,larvicidal,and repellent activities against adults and larvae of ***,further studies must be performed to clarify the precise mechanisms and the efficacy of Cu NPs in practical use.

pesticides in stormwater runoff-A mini review

Recently,scientific interest has grown in harvesting and treating stormwater for potable water use,in order to combat the serious global water scarcity *** this context,pesticides have been identified as the key knowledge gap as far as reusing stormwater is *** paper reviewed the presence of pesticides in stormwater runoff in both rural and urban ***,the sources of pesticide contamination and possible pathways were investigated in this *** factors affecting pesticides in stormwater runoff were critically identified as:1)characteristics of precipitation,2)properties of pesticide,3)patterns of pesticides use,and 4)properties of application *** available pesticide mitigation strategies including best management practice(BMP),low impact development(LID),green infrastructure(GI)and sponge city(SC)were also included in this *** the future,large-scale multi-catchment studies that directly evaluate pesticide concentrations in both urban and rural stormwater runoff will be of great importance for the development of effective pesticides treatment approaches and stormwater harvesting strategies.

Effects of Several pesticides on Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) Activities of Different Rice Varieties

Effects of several pesticides on superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities of different rice varieties were studied. The results showed that SOD activities of almost all the herbicide treatments on different rice varieties increased during 15 days after treatment (DAT). SOD activity of rice plants reached a maximum at 10 DAT, began to decline at 15 DAT and then recovered to the control level at 21 DAT. The SOD activity of rice plants at 2 days after the second application of pesticides (spraying with insecticide-bisultap or fungicide-jing-ganmycin at 22 days after herbicide treatments) (2 DAST) increased and declined at 6 DAST in comparison with that of the control, indicating that two applications of pesticides had a more serious impact on rice plants compared with one application. SOD activity of rice plants may be an index of rice plant resistance.

Study on Effect of pesticides on Rice Leaf Photosynthate Export Rate with Tracer Kinetics

Impacts of three pesticides, triazophos, jingganmycin and bisultap, on the export rate of pho-tosynthate of rice leaf were studied with 14C for rice varieties, spraying time and application rate. Dynamics data of photosynthate of labeled rice functional leaves of different treatments were recorded with living plant nutrient detection instrument with multi-probes through tracer method of radioactive nuclide. Compartment analysis model and mathematical equations were constructed using principle and method of kinetics analysis, calculating constant (K) of export rate. The result showed that the export rate of photosynthate of labeled leaf reduced after pesticide treatments. The reduction of the export rate was positively related with the pesticide application rates and mainly attributed to decrease of photosynthetic rate.

A Review of Agricultural pesticides Use and the Selection for Resistance to Insecticides in Malaria Vectors

Most national malaria control programmes rely extensively on pyrethroid insecticides to control mosquito vectors of this disease. Unfortunately, the intensive use of this class of insecticides both in public health and agriculture has led to its reduced efficacy. The objective of this review was to assess the role of agricultural pesticides use on the development of resistance to insecticides in malaria vectors and the potential impact of this resistance on control activities. We searched library catalogues and public databases for studies that included data on resistance to the major classes of insecticides: organochlorines, carbamates, organophosphates and pyrethroids, in the malaria vectors of Anopheles genera. There is a strong geographical bias in published studies many originating from West African countries. Several studies demonstrate that resistance to pyrethroids is widespread in the major malaria vectors of the Anopheles gambiae and Anopheles funestus complexes. Assessing the impact of insecticide resistance on vector control is complicated owing to the lack of studies into the epidemiological consequences of resistance on the control of malaria and other vector borne diseases.
