In the ores of low-grade platinum deposits, the platinum concentration is very low(average Pt content -1), and the platinum minerals often occur as micron grains,thus making it difficult to study the platinum distribution oniy by routine tools, such aselectron microprobes or optic microscopes. As a result, the research and exploitation ofthese deposits in our country is hampered by the lack of more powerful tools.

Investigation of production of medical ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge for ^(82)Sr/^(82)Rb and ^(68)Ge/^(68)Ga generators via proton accelerator

How to operate^(82)Sr/^(82)Rb and ^(68)Ge/^(68)Ga generators used in the positron emission tomography scan process is explained, and the importance of ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge radionuclides for these generators is revealed. To produce medical ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge by means of a proton accelerator in an irradiation time of 24 h, a proton beam current of250 l A, and an energy range E_(proton)= 100 →5 MeV, the cross sections and the neutron emission spectrum curves of(p,xn) reaction processes on Rb-85, Ga-69 and Ga-71 targets were calculated, and the activities and yields of the product were simulated for the reaction processes. Additionally, the integral yields of the reaction processes were determined via the calculated cross-sectional curves and the mass stopping power obtained from the X-PMSP program. Furthermore, based on the obtained results, the appropriate reaction processes for the production of ^(82)Sr and ^(68)Ge isotopes on Rb-85, Ga-69, and Ga-71 targets are discussed.

With the development of social economy and radiotherapy technique,proton/heavy ion radiotherapy has been applied widely to clinical *** present,there are at least 29 hospitals in China at various stages of planning,construction,commissioning or clinical operation of medical proton/heavy ion beam radiotherapy *** with common radiotherapy accelerators used in conventional external beam radiotherapy,the proton/heavy ion therapy system has more stringent requirements for quality control so as to achieve an optimum therapeutic *** order to protect the health rights of patients undergoing radiotherapy,to facilitate the relevant administrative supervision departments to carry out standard-based approval and routine supervision and to promote the development of related medical undertakings,the standard for testing of quality control for medical proton/heavy ion beam radiotherapy equipment is drafted to fill the gap in this regard in China and even *** standard contains five indicators and corresponding testing methods for radiological protection and safety and 16 indicators for quality control of equipment *** standard is a mandatory standard and is based on the relevant Chinese legal requirements for the testing of radiotherapy equipment,so all the indicators listed in the standard shall be *** the drafting of the standard,the opinions from hospitals that are currently using proton/heavy ion medical accelerators for radiotherapy purpose and from the related equipment manufacturers were taken into *** draft standard was revised with reference to these opinions and the feasibility of the related quality control *** official version of the standard was released on March 7,2023,and implementation is scheduled to begin on March 1,2024.

Acid suppressive therapy improved symptoms due to circumferential cervical inlet patch with proton pumps(H^+/K^+-ATPase)

Cervical inlet patch(CIP), also referred to as esophageal heterotopic gastric mucosa, is regarded as the residue of columnar epithelium of the embryonic esophagus. Narrow band imaging increases the detection rate of CIP. Herein, we present a 55-year-old man with symptomatic circumferential inlet patch. He exhibited globus and dysphagia, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy found cir-cumferential CIP, where im-munohistochemistry revealed the existence of pro-ton pumps(H^+, K^+ -ATPase). His throat symptoms were relieved by acid suppressive therapy with pump inhibitors. This case indicated that CIP should be considered as a differential diagnosis for the cause of globus symptoms in rare cases.

Studies on distribution of trace gold mostly focus on some samples in whichgold content is well above 100 ppm at the present time due to the limitation of analy-sis methods. Progress in research on trace gold (usually less than 100 ppm to n ppm)was rarely reported. Although electronic microprobe (EMP) and scanning electronicmicroprobe (SEM) have a high resolution, their detection limits are still 100-500ppm and 100-300 ppm, respectively. proton elastic scattering at energies around 2.0 MeV was used to determine the concentration of oxygen in a Y-Ba-Cu-O compound, nitrogen in a TiN film on steel substrate, and carbon and oxygen in a thin Mylar film. proton scattering from light elements in this energy range exhibits non-Rutherford scattering cross section, which is enhanced by a factor of 4 to 7 relative to the Rutherford scattering cross section. Thus the sensitivity for the light element detection is considerably larger than that obtained by He^+ ion scattering. Quantitative analysis by proton scattering is discussed and compared with other methods.
