What is the most favorite and original chemistry developed in your research group?oxidative cross-coupling-The chemistry between two"nucleophiles".How do you get into this specific field?Could you please share some experiences with our readers?My first contact with palladium chemistry was the halopalladation of acetylene in 1998.Then I worked on palladium enolate and found it could initiate a transmetalation reaction.Until 2006,I found that desyl chloride(a halogenated hydrocarbon)showed different reactivity with orga no metallic reagents due to the halophilic and oxyphilic properties,thus we achieved the cross-coupling between two orga no metallic reagents.

The indolizine structural motif has attracted much attention because it is frequently encountered in natural products, synthetic pharmaceuticals, and materials chemistry. Consequently, much research has focused on the synthesis of functionalized indolizines, through either the construction or modification of indolizine rings. However, 3-(pyridin-2-yl)indolizine, a vital skeleton for building phosphoinositide 3-kinase inhibitors, has rarely been reported. Only one example of the direct synthesis of 3-(pyridin-2-yl)indolizine derivatives via multistep transformation has been reported, which is protected by US patent. Therefore, the development of direct strategies for the rapid construction of 3-(pyridin-2-yl)indolizine skeletons, particularly green and practical oxidative cross-coupling/annulation strategies via the cleavage of C–C and multiple C–H bonds, is highly valuable.
