The contamination diffusion to the operating room when the door is open was simulated with a computational fluid dynamic(CFD) method,to give the extent of the contamination *** influence of the door-opening procedure was ignored since the door of the operating room is normally a sliding *** flow field in the case of the 16 s course of opening the door was *** simulated and the experimental results demonstrate that the extent of the contamination diffusion is around 1.5 m when there is no temperature difference between indoor and outdoor,and there is hardly any contamination diffusion when the temperature difference is 1 ℃.It can be concluded that the positive pressure difference in the operating room lost its function in preventing the contamination when the door is *** the temperature of corridor is lower than that of operating room contributes to contamination *** 1 ℃ temperature difference between corridor and operating room and increasing positive pressure and air flow are *** is more secure to set up an anteroom if persons come in or out of the operation room at the course of surgery.

Noise pollution is in an increasing trend in the operating rooms, as has been the case in various other domains in life. It has been shown in studies that the main cause of this noise pollution consist of the behavior related to the operating room personel and the surgical equipment. These higher than normal noise levels may increase stress and decrease communication and performance, apart from the negative health effects on the operating team. In this study, we aimed to explore the sources of noise pollution and the place of music on these effects on anesthesiology and surgical doctors. Questions formulated through a questionnaire have been asked to the anesthesiology and surgical department physicians on a voluntary basis, and their approach to the concept of noise has been assessed. The study was planned as a descriptive study. In total, highest impact from noise pollution was found to be the aspirator (74.3%), chatting (55.4%), noises from the monitors (54.8%), alarms (48.6%), surgical material (25.9%) and music (23.8%). Noise had the most impact on the concentration of the doctors with a rate of 61.9%. Anesthesiologists, when compared to other surgical department physicians, were found to be impacted most by music with 37.2%. It is not realistic to eliminate all the noise and distraction. On the other hand, it can be minimalized through sufficient measures. Yet, general measures to keep the silence isn’t too likely to keep the noise down during long operations. Whereas music stays as a matter of personal choice. Controlled studies on whether to keep or not the music in the operating rooms aren’t yet sufficient, due to which, general recommendations do not apply. As a result of this study, we have found that while music might have performance increasing effects, it still has a potential as a distraction and interfere with the communication in the operating room.

Background: Facemask is an essential component of the surgical outfit adorned by operating room staff to filter microorganisms by droplets from the oral and nasopharynx of the personnel, thereby reducing contamination, protecting the patient’s wound and minimising the risk of Surgical Site Infections (SSI). Objective: The objective of this review was to explore the available evidence and provide a better understanding of the effect of a surgical facemask in preventing SSI in clean surgery performed in the operating room. Data sources: Key electronic databases related to nursing, allied health, life science, biomedicine and research were searched for published literature on the use of facemask in the operating room. Methodology: A systematic review of quantitative research studies of randomised controlled trials was conducted with a meta-analysis of the results. Results: No variation in the rate of infection between the two (masked and unmasked) groups. Conclusion: The effect of facemask in minimising SSI after clean surgery remains questionable due to the limited results. More comprehensive research is needed.

Operation items inventory system is an important working system in the operating room. Scientific and standardized methods and systems for counting surgical instruments and dressings during operation can prevent foreign bodies from being left in the body, prevent errors and accidents in the operating room, and are very important for ensuring the safety of the operation of patients. In order to ensure the safety of patients, it is necessary to ensure the correct inventory of surgical items. The recognition of surgical processes in the operating room is an emerging research field in medical engineering. We present the design and implementation of a instrument localization system that is based on information fusion strategies to enhance its recognition power. The system was implemented using RFID technology. It monitored the presence of surgical tools in the interventional site and the instrument tray and combined the measured information by applying redundant, complementary, and cooperative information fusion strategy to achieve a more comprehensive model of the current situation. An evaluation study was performed that showed a correct classification rate of 97% for the system.
