Promoting Ethical Sensitivity in nursing Education:A Systematic Review of Case Study-Based Health Education

Introduction: nursing ethical sensitivity refers to a nurse’s capacity for thoughtful consideration of ethical issues when faced with dilemmas. In the nursing domain, ethical dilemmas arise when nurses face challenges in making sound ethical decisions during clinical practice. These challenges may stem from conflicts between personal values and professional responsibilities. Methodology: Articles downloaded from Pub Med, CNKI, and Google Scholar were reviewed. Results: After rigorous screening, a meticulous analysis was conducted, encompassing 10 articles and involving a substantial cohort of 2863 participants. Existing literature revealed variations in the ethical dilemmas faced by nurses across different departments. The ethical sensitivity of nurses also varies, with higher ethical sensitivity correlating with stronger empathetic abilities. Zhen et al. classified the causes of ethical dilemmas into four main categories: (1) Ethical dilemmas arising from personal reasons of nursing students;(2) Ethical dilemmas stemming from the actions of teachers;(3) Ethical dilemmas triggered by patients;(4) Ethical dilemmas resulting from miscellaneous reasons. Conclusion: According to literature findings, nursing ethical sensitivity was positively linked to the nurse’s ethical decision-making ability. A case study-oriented teaching program has proven effective in enhancing ethical sensitivity among nursing students.

Background:Horizontal violence has negatively affected the students’active learning,interpersonal relationship,and occupational ***,little attention has been paid to the relationship between horizontal violence and occupational belonging among nursing ***:The objective of this study was to explore the frequency,types,perpetrators,effects,and responses of horizontal violence experienced by nursing students and the relationship between occupational belonging and horizontal *** and Methods:The present study used a descriptive,cross-sectional survey *** data were collected from the 277 undergraduate nursing students selected by convenience sampling method using personal characteristics form,horizontal violence survey,and occupational belonging subscale at nursing faculty in ***:The first three horizontal violence behaviors experienced by nursing students were found,respectively:being forced to do trivial and unimportant work which are not the students’responsibility(84.1%),being exposed to sarcastic remarks by nurses(80.9%)and unwillingness of the nurse to help and lack of support(80.9%)and being ignored by nurses(77.3%).Nearly half of the students(48.4%)considered leaving nursing profession as a result of horizontal *** was a negative relation between horizontal violence and occupational belonging(Pnursing students consider leaving nursing profession or *** studies are needed to better demonstrate addressing the horizontal violence bilaterally and the effective preventive interventions.

Objective:The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence and level of social media addiction among nursing students in the Faculty of nursing,Cairo *** and Methods:A descriptive cross‑sectional research design was conducted on samples of 340 students at the Faculty of nursing,Cairo *** were collected through demographic background information sheet and Social Networking Addiction ***:All the students were addicted as 6.76%were severely addicted and 60.59%and 32.65%were moderately and mildly addicted,*** relations were found between social media addiction and students’age(χ^(2)=11.331,P=0.003),educational level(χ^(2)=20.239,P=0.003),and grade point average(χ^(2)=19.378,P=0.013).Conclusion:Internet addiction was prevalent among all students but at different levels,so early screening of students for Internet addiction using the Internet Addiction Scale is important to provide early treatment and prevent hazards to health.

Objectives:To examine the association between social media addiction and sleep quality among undergraduate nursing ***:This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional *** sampling technique was purposive sampling of 150 nursing students at a private university in Malang,*** filled out a questionnaire about self-identity,a sleep quality questionnaire from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),and social media addiction from Social Media Addiction Scale(SMAS).This was a bivariate analysis which was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation ***:The results of this study reported that most nursing students were addicted to social media(76%).As for the parameter of the quality variable,most respondents had poor sleep quality,which were about 106 people(70.3%).The result of the Pearson Product Moment Correlation test obtained a P value of *** Pearson correlation coefficient was *** media addiction(adjusted odds ratio[OR]4.80,95%confidence interval[CI]=2.08-11.02),gender(adjusted OR 3.79,95%CI=1.58-9.12),and using social media for a long time(adjusted OR 4.21,95%CI=1.97-10.48)were associated with sleep ***:We found that there is an association between social media addiction and sleep quality among nursing ***,we might be educating nursing students to manage their time to improve their quality of sleep to avoid any health problems.

Objective: Nurses play important roles in caring for dying patients and their families. Difficulties students confronted when facing dying patients challenge the quality of nursing education. A better understanding of students' experiences would enhance teachers' ability in helping students. This study aims to describe available evidence about nursing students' experiences when caring for dying patients and their ***: A review of qualitative studies published between 2005 and 2017 was undertaken using the following databases: MEDLINE, CINAHL, ProQuest Central, ScienceDirect, and CNKI. The keywords included were nursing students, experience, care, end-of-life, and dying. Qualitative Assessment and Review Instrument was used to assess the quality of the studies by two independent reviewers. The data from the studies were analyzed by ***: Eighteen English and two Chinese studies were selected in this review. Four themes were emerged:(1) students with dying patients: students did not have enough ability in symptoms control, comfort supply, and therapeutic communication for dying patients.(2) students with the patients' families: students advocated more caring for patients' families.(3) students with the surroundings: professional medical staffs, especially the nursing preceptors, were key roles in constructing a supporting system for students.(4) students with themselves: nursing students underwent various negative feelings and adopted both negative and positive strategies to cope with such feelings;students experienced professional and personal development during the caring for dying ***: nursing students' abilities in terminal symptom control, comfort supply, and therapeutic communication should be improved by more theoretic learning and simulation practice. The nursing preceptors were key roles in constructing a supporting system for students and helping them to control the negative emotions when facing dying patients.

Tunisian DREEM: nursing students’ Perception of the Learning Environment

Objectives: The evaluation of the learning environment has become critical to professional development and student success. This study aims to evaluate the viewpoints of nursing sciences students on the learning environment using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) at a Higher Institute of nursing Sciences in Tunisia. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 200 students at the Higher Institute of nursing Sciences. The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure was used as a worldwide tool. Descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance with a post hoc Tukey-Kramer multiple comparisons test were used for data analysis. Results: The total mean score on the 50-item DREEM inventory was 111.9 out of a maximum of 200. students’ perceptions of learning, their teachers, their academic self, and of the atmosphere were more positive than negative. student social self-perception was negatively evaluated. students were not satisfied with the support system in the institute. The DREEM score was significantly higher for the students in the first year of study (P Conclusion: This is the first study in Tunisia assessing the nursing learning environment;it showed a positive assessment. Therefore, improvements are required, especially in the learning and social domains of the educational environment.

Factors that Influence Professional Socialization in nursing students: A Multigroup Analysis

Background: nursing professional socialization significantly influences the sustainable development of nursing students’ careers. This study aims to examine the factors that influence professional socialization in nursing students. Methods: This is a quantitative study of a sample of 108 nursing students (80 females and 28 males). The Simulation Learning Effectiveness Scale, Caring Assessment Report Evaluation Q-sort, Self-Reflection and Insight Scale, and Holistic nursing Competence Scale were used to collect the data on the independent variables. The Team Skills Scale, nursing Image as a Profession questionnaire, and nursing Professional Commitment Scale were used to assess the level of students’ nursing professional socialization, which is an outcome construct variable. A multigroup analysis was used to examine the professional socialization research model. Results: The full model findings show that individual learning effectiveness had a significantly positive effect on nursing students’ caring behavior and on self-reflection and insight. In addition, caring behavior and self-reflection and insight had a significantly positive effect on nursing competence. Finally, nursing competence also had a significantly positive effect on nursing professional socialization. Overall, all independent variables were significant predictors of nursing professional socialization, explaining 36.7% of the variance in the integrated model of professional socialization. In addition, a permutation test revealed no differences in the two comparisons’ path coefficient estimates in the model (female vs. male). Conclusion: It is important to further strengthen nursing students’ self-learning effectiveness to promote their self-reflection and caring behavior. Increasing students’ nursing competence is a key factor in improving their professional socialization.

Validation of Stressors in nursing students Scale-Chinese Version (SINS-CN) in a Population of Macao nursing students

Objective： To validate the Stressors in nursing students Scale-Chinese Version（SINS-CN） in a population of Macao nursing students. Methods： A methodological study was designed with 2 phases. In phase 1, a three-expert panel was invited to evaluate the content validity of SINS-CN, and then its test-retest reliability was examined over a 2-week interval. In phase 2,211 undergraduate nursing students were recruited, and 203 valid responses to the questionnaire were obtained. A principal component analysis with varimax rotation was applied to validate the structure of the instrument. Results： The content validity index（CVI） was 0.89. The correlation coefficient of the test-retest reliability was 0.82 for the overall instrument and 0.70-0.88 for the instrument＇s sub-dimensions. Based on the 43 items of the instrument, five components were identified and accounted for 60. 28% of the variance with eigenvalues ranging from 1.32 to 10. 18. The factor loadings were 0.42-0.79. The internal consistency reliability of Cronbach＇s ot was 0.96 for the overall scale and 0.67-0.94 for its sub-dimensions. Conclusion： The study findings indicated that SINS-CN had acceptable psychometric properties in terms of content validity, stability and internal consistency reliability. The principal component analysis generated a 5-component structure with 43 items; this was slightly different from the origi- nai structure but was more applicable to the studied population, which suggests that this instrument has cross-cultural sensitivity.
