Background:nontyphoidal salmonella(NTS) is a leading serovars that causes children diarrhea in *** To understand the clinical epidemiology of NTS enteric infections in children and antibiotic resistance patterns of NTS,and trace the possible infectious ***:All cases were included into this study from the enteric clinic of a tertiary pediatric hospital during January 2012 through December *** isolates were serotyped and tested for antimicrobial susceptibility testing using Kirby-Bauer Method:.The most common serovars were subjected to do XbaI macrorestriction and pulsed-field gel ***:Of the enrolled3143 patients,742(23.6%) were confirmed with salmonella infections,and NTS was identified in 738(23.5%) *** Enteritidis and salmonella Typhimurium were the most common serovars,representing 42.6%and 28.2%of isolates,*** infections were prevalent year-round with a seasonal peak from May to *** common symptoms included fever(57.5%) and blood-in-stool(31.1%).NTS isolates exhibited the highest frequency of resistance to nalidixic acid(51.6%),ampicillin(61.6%),tetracycline(51.3%),trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(29.4%),and chloramphenicol(29.0%).Resistance to the third-generation or fourth-generation cephalosporins,amoxicillin-clavulanate and ciprofloxacin was detected in 8.1%-10.0%,6.7%,and 1.1%of isolates,*** 79 of 148 salmonella Typhimurium strains and 96 of 100 salmonella Enteritidis strains shared > 85%similarity in banding patterns to the same serotypes isolated from food(duck,pork,chicken and fish),turles and *** NTS was the leading causative agent responsible for bacterial diarrhea in Shanghainese *** of animal origin was potentially a major source of NTS infections.

BACKGROUND Non-typhoidal salmonella(NTS)is a rare,but well-established cause of *** symptoms may be varied,however often revolve around the dual presentation of both myopericarditis and infectious *** the rarity of NTS related myopericarditis,we conducted a systematic review of the literature,identifying 41 previously reported *** SUMMARY We present the case of an otherwise healthy 39-year old male,presenting with chest pain in the setting of documented salmonella typhimurium *** further investigation with echocardiogram and laboratory blood tests,a diagnosis of NTS associated myopericarditis was made,and the patient received antibiotic treatment with an excellent clinical ***,myopericarditis is rare in *** treatment for myopericarditis has not been well established,there are guidelines for the treatment of NTS *** our review,we found that the majority of NTS cases has been pericarditis(27/42,64.3%),with an average age of 48.3 years,and 71.4%being *** average mortality across all cases was 31%.CONCLUSION Myopericarditis is a rare,but potentially serious complication of NTS infection,associated with an increased morbidity and mortality.

salmonella enterica serovar Apeyeme is a rare pathogen that primarily affects ***,there are limited data about this infection in *** this case,a 7-month-old infant presented with high-grade fever without diarrhea for 12 hours prior to *** admission,he developed seizures and was referred for further *** was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis with complications of subdural effusion,empyema,and *** Apeyeme was found in cerebrospinal fluid culture,but no growth was detected in either blood or stool *** was given meropenem,vancomycin,and ciprofloxacin,but later developed disseminated intravascular *** clinical condition deteriorated over time,and he died 18 days after *** conclude,salmonella Apeyeme infection should be considered if a patient is diagnosed with meningoencephalitis and has a history of poultry exposure.

BACKGROUND Infected aortic aneurysms are uncommon and difficult to *** present a case of infected aortic aneurysm with recurrent nontyphoidal salmonella *** SUMMARY A 68-year-old gentleman presented with non-specific symptoms and was found to have nontyphoidal salmonella bacteremia and was treated with intravenous *** his condition did not improve,and he developed a multiloculated right pleural *** was done to drain hemorrhagic pleural *** computed tomography demonstrated descending thoracic aorta saccular aneurysm with periaortic hematoma likely due to recent bleed and extending to the right pleural *** was referred to cardiothoracic surgery team and was planned for medical therapy in view of hemodynamic stability and no evidence of active *** completed intravenous antibiotic for 5 wk and refused surgical ***,he was admitted twice for recurrent nontyphoidal salmonella ***,he agreed for surgical intervention and underwent endovascular aortic repair 3 mo ***,his condition remained stable with no recurrence of *** Our case highlights the importance of high index of suspicion of infected aortic aneurysm in patients with salmonella bacteremia with high-risk factors such as atherosclerosis.
