nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD), the most common of chronic liver disease in Western Country, is closely related to insulin resistance and oxidative stress and includes a wide spectrum of liver diseases ranging from steatosis alone, usually a benign and non-progressive condition, to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH), which may progress to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. NAFLD is considered the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome with which shares several characteristics, however recent data suggest that NAFLD is linked to increased cardiovascular risk independently of the broad spectrum of risk factors of metabolic syndrome. Accumulating evidence suggests that the clinical burden of NAFLD is not restricted to liver-related morbidity and mortality, with the majority of deaths in NAFLD patients related to cardiovascular disease and cancer and not to the progression of liver disease. Retrospective and prospective studies provide evidence of a strong association between NAFLD and subclinical manifestation of atherosclerosis(increased intima-media thickness, endothelial dysfunction, arterial stiffness, impaired left ventricular function and coronary calcification). A general agreement emerging from these studies indicates that patients with NASH are at higher risk of cardiovascular diseases than those with simple steatosis, emphasizing the role of chronic inflammation in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis of these patients. It is very likely that the different mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis in patients with NAFLD have a different relevance in the patients according to individual genetic background. In conclusion, in the presence of NAFLD patients should undergo a complete cardiovascular evaluation to prevent future atherosclerotic complications. Background:nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is an independent risk factor for severe acute pancreatitis(AP).The underlying mechanism remains *** sought to determine how bacterial translocation and cholesterol metabolism in the liver and pancreas affect the severity of AP in NAFLD ***:C57BL/6N mice were fed on a high-fat diet(HFD)to generate the NAFLD model,and mice in the control group were provided with a normal diet(ND).After being anesthetized with ketamine/xylazine,mice got a retrograde infusion of taurocholic acid sodium into the pancreatic duct to induce AP,and sham operation(SO)was used as *** amylase and Schmidt’s pathological score system were used to evaluate AP *** loads,total cholesterol level,and cholesterol metabolic-associated molecules[low-density lipoprotein receptor(LDLR)and ATP-binding cassette transporter A1(ABCA1)]were analyzed in the liver and ***:Compared with the ND-AP group,mice in the HFD-AP group had severer pancreatitis,manifested with higher serum amylase levels and higher AP pathologic scores,especially the inflammation and hemorrhage *** with the HFD-SO group and ND-AP group,bacterial loads in the liver and pancreas were significantly higher in the HFD-AP *** in the HFD-AP group showed a decreased LDLR expression and an increased ABCA1 expression in the pancreas,although there was no significant difference in pancreas total cholesterol between the HFD-AP group and the ND-AP ***:NAFLD aggravates AP via increasing bacterial translocation in the liver and pancreas and affecting pancreas cholesterol metabolism in mice.

nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease. NAFLD includes a wide spectrum of liver conditions ranging from simple steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and advanced hepatic fibrosis. NAFLD has been recognized as a hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome linked with insulin resistance. NAFLD should be considered not only a liver specific disease but also an early mediator of systemic diseases. Therefore, NAFLD is usually associated with cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia. NAFLD is highly prevalent in the general population and is associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The underlying mechanisms and pathogenesis of NAFLD with regard to other medical disorders are not yet fully understood. This review focuses on pathogenesis of NAFLD and its relation with other systemic diseases.

nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and cardiovascular disease(CVD)are two diseases that are common in the general *** date,many studies have been conducted and demonstrate a direct link between NAFLD and CVD,but the exact mechanisms for this complex relationship are not well established.A systematic search of the PubMed database revealed that several common mechanisms are involved in many of the local and systemic manifestations of NAFLD and lead to an increased cardiovascular *** possible mechanisms linking NAFLD and CVD include inflammation,oxidative stress,insulin resistance,ectopic adipose tissue distribution,dyslipidemia,endothelial dysfunction,and adiponectin,among *** clinical implication is that patients with NAFLD are at an increased risk of CVD and should undergo periodic cardiovascular risk assessment.

nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in the Western world comprising a spectrum of liver damage from fatty liver infiltration to end-stage liver disease,in patients without significant alcohol *** prevalence of NAFLD has been reported in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS),one of the most common endocrinopathies in premenopausal women,which has been redefined as a reproductive and metabolic disorder after the recognition of the important role of insulin resistance in the pathophysiology of the ***,in particular central adiposity and insulin resistance are considered as the main factors related to NAFLD in ***,existing data support that androgen excess,which is the main feature of PCOS and is interrelated to insulin resistance,may be an additional contributing factor to the development of *** the natural history of NAFLD remains unclear and hepatic steatosis seems to be a relatively benign condition in most patients,limited data imply that advanced stage of liver disease is possibly more frequent in obese PCOS patients with *** patients,particularly obese patients with features of the metabolic syndrome,should be submitted to screening for NAFLD comprising assessment of serum aminotransferase levels and of hepatic steatosis by abdominal *** modifications including diet,weight loss and exercise are the most appropriate initial therapeutic interventions for PCOS patients with *** pharmacologic therapy is considered,metformin may be used,although currently there is no medical therapy of proven benefit for ***-term follow up studies are needed to clarify clinical implications and guide appropriate diagnostic evaluation,follow-up protocol and optimal treatment for PCOS patients with NAFLD.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is one of the most common comorbidities associated with overweight and metabolic syndrome(Met S). Importantly, NAFLD is one of its most dangerous complications because it can lead to severe liver pathologies, including fibrosis, cirrhosis and hepatic cellular carcinoma. Given the increasing worldwide prevalence of obesity, NAFLD has become the most common cause of chronic liver disease and therefore is a major global health problem. Currently, NAFLD is predominantly regarded as a hepatic manifestation of Met S. However, accumulating evidence indicates that the effects of NAFLD extend beyond the liver and are negatively associated with a range of chronic diseases, most notably cardiovascular disease(CVD), diabetes mellitus type 2(T2DM) and chronic kidney disease(CKD). It is becoming increasingly clear that these diseases are the result of the same underlying pathophysiological processes associated with Met S, such as insulin resistance, chronic systemic inflammation and dyslipidemia. As a result, they have been shown to be independent reciprocal risk factors. In addition, recent data have shown that NAFLD actively contributes to aggravation of the pathophysiology of CVD, T2 DM, and CKD, as well as several other pathologies. Thus, NAFLD is a direct cause of many chronic diseases associated with MetS, and better detection and treatment of fatty liver disease is therefore urgently needed. As non-invasive screening methods for liver disease become increasingly available, detection and treatment of NAFLD in patients with MetS should therefore be considered by both(sub-) specialists and primary care physicians.
