Three Years Community-Based Intervention Program to Prevent non-communicable disease Risk Factors in Sousse, Tunisia

Aim： To evaluate the effectiveness of a community-based intervention program for NCD （non-communicable disease） risk factors prevention. Materials and methods： The authors conducted a quasi experimental study with a control group over five years between 2009 and 2014 in the region of Sousse, Tunisia. In each group, the sample size required was 1,000 participants. For this, the authors randomly selected 500 households from two areas and they included all adults aged 18 years and older in these households. They evaluated the habits of participants from both intervention and control groups at baseline in 2009-2010 and after three years of intervention in 2013-2014. They focused on the main lifestyle risk factors represented by poor diet, physical inactivity, and tobacco use. Results： Tobacco use decreased significantly among men by 7.3% （/9 = 0.03） in the intervention group, versus an increase of 3.5% in the control group （p = 0.4）. Physical activity and fruits and vegetables intake increased significantly respectively by 25% （p 〈 0.001） and 19% （p 〈 0.001） in intervention group. Conclusion： The results suggest that a combined community-based lifestyle intervention in a developing country, can significantly improve some NCD risk factors. However, a supportive environment or a gender approach is required to maximize the effectiveness and maintain the sustainability of the health intervention.

Trend of non-communicable disease mortality for three common conditions in the elderly population from 2002 to 2010: A population-based study in China

The Relationship between Diet and Mortality of Cancer and non-communicable disease in Japan

Objective: To evaluate the effects of dietary factors on cancer and non-communicable diseases. Methods: A correlation analysis between the consumption of various indicator food and mortality rates of cancer or non-communicable diseases was conducted by collecting secondary data from national nutrition surveys in Japan. Results: The consumption of cereal foods, plant energy and plant protein showed a significant negative correlation with mortality of cancer, heart diseases and diabetes; negatively related to the lung cancer and colon cancer in both sexes; a strong negative correlation with mortality of rectum cancer, liver cancer and prostate cancer in males, and of breast cancer in females; and a significant positive correlation with the stomach cancer in both sexes. The consumption of animal foods, animal energy, animal protein and fat showed a strong positive correlation with cancer, heart diseases and diabetes; a positive relations to lung cancer and colon cancer in both sexes, and rectum cancer, liver cancer and prostate cancer in males and breast cancer in females. On the contrary, a strong negative correlation was found in stomach cancer in both sexes; and esophagus cancer, liver cancer and uterus cancer in females. The consumption of vegetables and fruits showed a weak negative correlation with stomach cancer. Conclusion : The results suggest that diet not only plays a significant role in increasing the risks of some kinds of cancer or non-communicable diseases but also has a preventive effect. It is very important that dietary balance should be emphasized to prevent cancer and non-com-municable diseases.

Background Based on the excellent medical care and management system for Chinese veterans,as well as the detailed medical documentation available,we aim to construct a Chinese Veteran Clinical Research （CVCR） platform on noncommunicable diseases （NCDs） and carry out studies of the primary disabling *** The Geriatric Neurology Department of Chinese People＇s Liberation Army General Hospital and veterans＇ hospitals serve as the leading and participating units in the platform *** fundamental constituents of the platform are veteran *** typical cluster sampling is adopted to recruit veteran communities.A cross-sectional study of mental,neurological,and substance use （MNS） disorders are performed in two stages using screening scale such as the Mini-Mental State Examination and Montreal cognitive assessment,followed by systematic neuropsychological assessments to make clinical diagnoses,evaluated disease awareness and care *** A total of 9 676 among 277 veteran communities from 18 cities are recruited into this platform,yielding a response rate of 83.86％.8 812 subjects complete the MNS subproject screening and total response rate is 91.70％.The average participant age is （82.01±4.61） years,69.47％ of veterans are 80 years or *** participants are male （94.01％）,83.36％ of subjects have at least a junior high school *** overall health status of veterans is good and *** most common NCD are cardiovascular disorders （86.44％）,urinary and genital diseases （73.14％）,eye and ear problems （66.25％）,endocrine （56.56％） and neuro-psychiatric disturbances （50.78％）.Conclusion We first construct a veterans＇ comprehensive clinical research platform for the study of NCDs that is primarily composed of highly educated Chinese males of advanced age and utilize this platform to complete a cross-sectional national investigation of MNS disorders among *** good and stable health condition of the veterans could facilitat

The Interventional Capacity of Community Health Volunteers for Screening and Linkages of non-communicable diseases in Nyeri County, Kenya

non-communicable diseases (NCDs) account for 63% of mortalities. Approximately 80% of these NCD-related deaths occur in LMICs. A quasi-experimental study utilizing a non-equivalent pre-and post-test was conducted from May 2022 to March 2023 with 370 study participants. Multistage cluster and random sampling were used to select ten community units, and therefore, 150 CHVs were chosen for the control unit, and 150 were used to form the interventional group. Data was collected from the KOBO app. Six (6) homogenous FGDs comprised ten members, and 10 KII were conducted across study sites. Quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS version 28.0, and qualitative data was audio-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed via N-Vivo 12. The study shows that 59.3% of respondents have minimal information, and 92.7% (n = 139) have no clear understanding of NCDs, with a pre-intervention capacity of 48.8%. Independent sample t-test showed a significant difference in capacity from a pre-intervention average of 48.75 (SD ± 5.7)%, which increased to 68.28 (SD ± 7.6)%, p < 0.001. A well-designed community interventional model plays a pivotal role in grassroots healthcare delivery but requires optimization for NCD management.

Sports activity patterns and cardio-metabolic health over time among adults in Germany: Results of a nationwide 12-year follow-up study

This paper argues that health is a realistic productive force that may enhance the index of happiness. As the basis of all developments and the source of a person＇s and his/her family＇s happiness, health requires not only primary and secondary prevention, but also policy prevention, that is to say, grade-zero prevention. Therefore, people should pay more attention to Health in All Policies. As a new preventive strategy, the policy prevention will help improve people＇s health significantly and promote the concepts of ＂Healthy China＂ and ＂the Chinese Dream＂ or ＂the World Dream＂ to realize a dream from reality to the future.
