Precise localization of small pulmonary nodules using Pre-VATS with Xper-CT in combination with real-time fluoroscopy-guided coil:report of 15 patients

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the value of precise localization of nodules using pre-video-assisted thoracic surgery(VATS) Xper–CT in combination with real-time fluoroscopy-guided coil in the resection of pulmonary nodules using VATS. Materials and Methods: Precise localization of nodules using Xper-CT in combination with real-time fluoroscopy-guided coil and wedge resection using VATS were conducted on 15 patients with 17 small pulmonary nodules(diameter 0.5–1.5 cm) from April 2015 to January 2016. The value of localization was evaluated in terms of procedure time, type of coils, associated complications of localization, and VATS success rate. Results: The success rate of coil localization was found to be 100% in the primary stage(as shown by the CT scan), and the average procedure time was 30–45 min(35.6 ± 3.05 min). No deaths or major complications occurred. Minor complications included five incidents of pneumothorax(the morbidity was 29.4%, 5/17; no patient required chest tube drainage). The dislocation of coil was found in one patient. The results of pathological examination of 17 small pulmonary nodules revealed 11 primary lung cancers, 1 mesenchymal tumor, 3 nonspecific chronic inflammations, 1 hamartoma, and 1 tuberculosis. Two patients with primary lung cancer underwent lobectomy with mediastinal lymph node dissection. Conclusion: The preoperative precise localization of small pulmonary nodules using Xper-CT-guided coil is an effective and safe technique. It helps in the resection of nodules using VATS. It increases the rate of lung wedge resection with few complications and allows for proper diagnosis with a low thoracotomy conversion rate.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound features of benign nodules and malignant nodules as well as their correlation with the biological behavior of cancer cells

Objective: To study the contrast-enhanced ultrasound features of benign nodules and malignant nodules as well as their correlation with the biological behavior of cancer cells. Methods: Patients with thyroid nodules who received surgical resection in our hospital between April 2015 and February 2017 were selected and divided into malignant group and benign group according to postoperative pathology. Preoperative ultrasonography was performed to determine peak intensity (PI), time to peak (TTP) and mean transit time (MTT);postoperative nodule lesions were collected to detect the expression of angiogenesis molecules, proliferation molecules and apoptosis molecules. Results: PI level of thyroid nodule lesion of malignant group was higher than that of control group while TTP and MTT levels were lower than those of control group;VEGF, Gal-3, vWF, COX-2, BRAF, MCM7, XIAP and Survivin mRNA expression in thyroid nodule lesion of malignant group were significantly higher than those of control group, positively correlated with PI level, and negatively correlated with TTP and MTT levels while RASSF1A, CCNG2, PDCD4, P53 and PTEN mRNA expression were significantly lower than those of control group, negatively correlated with PI level, and positively correlated with TTP and MTT levels. Conclusion: The contrast-enhanced ultrasound features of malignant thyroid nodules are rich blood supply and small blood flow resistance, and they are closely related to angiogenesis and cell proliferation.

Symbiotic root nodules are root lateral organs of plants in which nitrogen-fixing bacteria(rhizobia)convert atmospheric nitrogen to *** formation and number of nodules in legumes are precisely controlled by a rhizobia-induced signal cascade and host-controlled autoregulation of nodulation(AON).However,how these pathways are integrated and their underlying mechanisms are ***,we report that microRNA172c(miR172c)activates soybean(Glycine max)R hizobia-induced CLE1(GmRICI)and GmRIC2 by removing the transcriptional repression of these genes by nodule Number Control 1(NNC1),leading to the activation of the AON ***1 interacts with GmNINa,the soybean ortholog of Lotus nodule INCEPTION(NIN),and hampers its transcriptional activation o i G m RICI and ***,GmNINa acts as a transcriptional activator of ***,NNC1 can transcriptionally repress miR172c expression,adding a negative feedback loop into the NNC1 regulatory ***,GmNINa interacts with NNC1 and can relieve the NNC1-mediated repression of miR172c ***,the GmNINa-miR172c-NNC1 network is a master switch that coordinately regulates and optimizes NF and AON signaling,supporting the balance between nodulation and AON in soybean.

Nitrogen-limited conditions are considered to be a prerequisite for legume-rhizobial symbiosis, but the effects of nitrate-rich conditions on symbiotic status remain poorly understood. We addressed this issue by examining rhizobial （Rhizobim tropici） and arbusclar mycorrhizal （Glomus intraradices） symbiosis in Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Negro Jamapa under nitrate pre-incubation and continuous nitrate conditions. Our results indicate that nitrate pre-incubation, independent of the concentration, did not affect nodule development. However, the continuous supply of nitrate at high concentrations impaired nodule maturation and nodule numbers. Low nitrate conditions, in addition to positively regulating nodule number, biomass, and nitrogenase activity, also extended the span of nitrogen-fixing activity. By contrast, for arbuscular mycorrhizae, continuous 1o and 50mmol/L nitrate increased the percent root length colonization, concomitantly reduced arbuscule size, and enhanced ammonia transport without affecting phosphate transport. Therefore, in this manuscript, we have proposed the importance of nitrate as a positive regulator in promoting both rhizobial and mycorrhizal symbiosis in the common bean.

GmACP expression is decreased in Gm NORK knockdown transgenic soybean roots

Angiogenesis and proliferation of endothelial cells in hypertrophic and nodular port-wine stain

Background:Port-wine stain(PWS)has been classified not as the hyperplasia of cells,but rather,as an expansion of malformed ***,previous studies have reported upregulated expression of proangiogenic factors in *** studies have indicated that the pathology exhibits proliferation of numerous endothelial cells in hypertrophic/nodular *** study aimed to determine the expression of vascular epithelial growth factor(VEGF),matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),angiopoietin-2(ANG-2),and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in hypertrophic ***:Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze skin samples from 33 patients with hypertrophic *** levels of VEGF,MMP-9,ANG-2,and bFGF in hypertrophic PWS were determined by multiplying the intensity by the percentage of immunoreactive *** scores were classified as follows:negative(0),low(1),moderate(2,3,and 4),or high(6).Results:Based on pathological characteristics,hypertrophic PWS was divided into vascular malformation and pyogenic granuloma(PG)***,MMP-9,ANG-2,and bFGF were significantly activated in the blood vessels of PG-type PWS samples compared with their counterparts in blood vessels of vascular malformation-type PWS samples and ***-type hypertrophic PWS,which exhibited proliferation of endothelial cells,showed the strongest ***:The exuberant proliferation of endothelial cells in PG-type hypertrophic PWS may be associated with the regulation of proangiogenic factors during *** proangiogenic factors that function in the angiogenesis and proliferation of endothelial cells may play an important role in the pathogenesis and progression of ***,these factors may be dynamic and behave differently in various types of hypertrophic PWS.

目的:探讨Fisher判别模式对孤立性肺结节CT鉴别诊断的应用价值。方法:回顾性分析了149例孤立性肺结节患者的CT资料,按病理随访结果分为良性组和恶性组两大类,对结节主要CT形态学特征进行评价,按良、恶性分组,以两组间有统计学意义的形态学征象为判别指标并行Fisher判别,采用交叉核实法估计误判概率。结果:孤立性肺结节CT征象的Fisher判别公式为Z=-0.251×1+0.563×2-0.319X3+0.261×4+0.492×5-0.101×6+0.326×7+0.329×8,误判率为12.08%,敏感性为89.32%,特异性为84.78%,鉴别诊断的准确率达87.92%。结论:Fisher判别模式能够有效的对孤立性肺结节进行鉴别诊断,具有较高的临床实用价值。
