nicrwre alloy powders were produced by gas atomization in argon atmosphere,the powders with CeO2 are fine,spheroidal and well *** alloy coatings were produced on to a medium-carbon steel substrate by thermal spray *** microstructure and tribological behavior of coatings were studied experimentally by means of scanning electron microscopy（SEM）,field emission gun scanning electron microscope（FEGSEM） and wear *** results show that the addition of CeO2 modifies the coating morphology from a needle like structure to a roughly cubic morphology,the refining and purifying effect of rare earth elements makes the microstructure more compact and *** CeO2 increases the plasticity and hardness of the coatings,increases the adhesive strength between the hard phase and the matrix,effectively protect boron which forms hard phases,and so result in better wear *** addition,dispersal hard phases in Ni-Fe solid solution tend to be well distributed in the microstructure with the addition of CeO2,which could account for improvement of the hardness and wear resistance of the *** of the worn surfaces revealed that the coatings with CeO2 addition show improved abrasive wear resistance over the coatings without *** adding CeO2,the hardness of the coatings was significantly increased,and the wear resistance of coatings was *** nicrwre alloy is now successfully being used for coating an oil slurry pump.
