Prediction of cost and emission from Indian coal-fired power plants with C02 capture and storage using artificial intelligence techniques

Coal-fired power plants are one of the most important targets with respect to reduction of CO2 emissions.The reasons for this are that coal-fired power plants offer localized large point sources(LPS)of CO2 and that the Indian power sector con tributes to roughly half of all-India CO2emissions.CO2capture and storage(CCS)can be implemented in these power plants for long-temi decarbonisation of the Indian economy.In this paper,two artificial intelligence(Al)techniques—adaptive network based fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)and multi gene genetic programming(MGGP)are used to model Indian coal-fired power plants with CO2 capture.The data set of 75 power plants take the plant size,the capture type,the load and the CO2 emission as the input and the COE and annual CO2 emissions as the output.It is found that MGGP is more suited to these applications with an R2 value of more than 99%between the predicted and actual values,as against the^96%correlation for the ANFIS approach.MGGP also gives the traditionally expected results in sensitivity analysis,which ANFIS fails to give.Several other parameters in the base plant and CO2 capture unit may be included in similar studies to give a more accurate result.This is because MGGP gives a better perspective toward qualitative data,such as capture type,as compared to ANFIS.

目的探讨采用neuro DSA CT评价中西医结合治疗分水岭脑梗死的疗效。方法将46例分水岭脑梗死患者随机分为治疗组及对照组。治疗组采用常规西医治疗加中药治疗,对照组采用常规西医治疗,用neuro DSA CT评价对比两组病人脑内分支血管改善情况。结果治疗组脑内分支血管改善与对照组比较有显著性意义(Pneuro DSA CT可以作为中西医结合治疗分水岭脑梗死疗效的一个判断指标。

目的:探讨neuro DSA CT颈动脉造影在诊断颈动脉狭窄中的价值。方法:选择41例拟诊缺血性脑梗塞患者行neuro DSA CT颈动脉造影及数字减影血管造影(DSA)。neuro DSA CT颈动脉造影应用三维处理后,测量颅内外血管狭窄程度,并与DSA比较。结果:neuro DSA CT与DSA对颈内动脉狭窄程度分级判断的一致性为79.2%(Kappa=0.71,Pneuro DSA CT颈动脉造影对颈内动脉各级狭窄诊断的灵敏度,特异度均较高。结论:neuro DSA CT颈动脉造影可以清晰显示颈动脉狭窄程度,有较高的准确性,可以作为颈动脉狭窄性病变的筛选方法。

neurobrucellosis is a complication of brucellosis,which is considered endemic in the Indian subcontinent,Arabian Peninsula and Mediterranean countries.Brucella reaches the central nervous system via hematogenous spread in the infected human being,or through phagocytosis.neurobrucellosis can present with any neurological symptoms,hence,the index of suspicion must be high enough to make proper diagnosis.Cerebrospinal fluid studies are usually diagnostic,while imagings including magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography are of little assistance.As for therapy,a combination of antibiotics must be administered with a goal to reduce relapse or avoid failure.The duration of treatment should be tailored as per clinical signs and symptoms until the cerebrospinal fluid components return to normal,which might be up to six months.In this article,we present an overall view of current understanding of neurobrucellosis in children,its epidemiology,clinical features,diagnostictests,and management options.

Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma(LCNEC)in the biliary system is a poorly differentiated,high-grade neuroendocrine tumor.These tumors exhibit aggressive behavior and an increased tendency for early nodal and distant metastases.Herein,we report an unusual case of a pure primary LCNEC of the common bile duct(CBD).A 75-year-old female presented with nausea and jaundice.The patient underwent a CBD excision with lymph node dissection.Upon histological and immunohistochemical examination,the tumor exhibited pure large cell-type neuroendocrine features.Metastases were noted in two of the eight lymph nodes.The patient was administered adjuvant chemotherapy.The patient’s cancer recurred 7 mo after surgery,and the patient died from liver failure 5 mo after recurrence.The prognosis of LCNEC of CBD remains poor despitecurative resection and adjuvant chemotherapy.The role of additional therapies,such as multimodal treatment including radiation therapy,must be further studied to improve the prognoses of patients.

Antenna Design and SAR Analysis on Human Head Phantom Simulation for Future Clinical Applications

Background: The rapid development of a variety of devices that emit Radiofrequency Electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) has sparked growing interest in their interaction with biological systems and the beneficial effects on human health. As a result, investigations have been driven by the potential for therapeutic applications, as well as concern for any possible negative health implications of these EM energies [1-4]. Recent results have indicated specific tuning of experimental and clinical RF exposure may lead to their clinical application toward beneficial health outcomes [5]. Method: In the current study, a mathematical and computer simulation model to analyze a specific RF-EMF exposure on a human head model was developed. Impetus for this research was derived from results of our previous experiments which revealed that Repeated Electromagnetic Field Stimulation (REMFS) decreased the toxic levels of beta amyloid (Aβ) in neuronal cells, thereby suggesting a new potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Throughout development of the proposed device, experimental variables such as the EM frequency range, specific absorption rate (SAR), penetration depth, and innate properties of different tissues have been carefully considered. Results: RF-EMF exposure to the human head phantom was performed utilizing a Yagi-Uda antenna type possessing high gain (in the order of 10 dbs) at a frequency of 64 MHz and SAR of 0.6 W/Kg. In order to maximize the EM power transmission in one direction, directors were placed in front of the driven element and reflectors were placed behind the driven element. So as to strategically direct the EM field into the center of the brain tissue, while providing field linearity, our analysis considered the field distribution for one versus four antennas. Within the provided dimensions of a typical human brain, results of the Bioheat equation within COMSOL Multiphysics version 5.2a software demonstrated less than a 1 m°K increase from the absorbed EM power.

Chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection exhibits a wide range of extrahepatic complications, affecting various organs in the human body. Numerous HCV patients suffer neurological manifestations, ranging from cognitive impairment to peripheral neuropathy. Overexpression of the host immune response leads to the production of immune complexes, cryoglobulins, as well as autoantibodies, which is a major pathogenic mechanism responsible for nervous system dysfunction. Alternatively circulating inflammatory cytokines and chemokines and HCV replication in neurons is another factor that severely affects the nervous system. Furthermore, HCV infection causes both sensory and motor peripheral neuropathy in the mixed cryoglobulinemia as well as known as an important risk aspect for stroke. These extrahepatic manifestations are the reason behind underlying hepatic encephalopathy and chronic liver disease. The brain is an apt location for HCV replication, where the HCV virus may directly wield neurotoxicity. Other mechanisms that takes place by chronic HCV infection due the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric disorders includes derangement of metabolic pathways of infected cells, autoimmune disorders, systemic or cerebral inflammation and alterations in neurotransmitter circuits. HCV and its pathogenic role is suggested by enhancement of psychiatric and neurological symptoms in patients attaining a sustained virologic response followed by treatment with interferon; however, further studies are required to fully assess the impact of HCV infection and its specific antiviral targets associated with neuropsychiatric disorders.

Patients with primary or secondary tumors in the central nervous system may have seizures resulting from direct tissue damage,metabolic abnormalities,infection,or toxic side effects of medications.In pediatric patients,it is more frequent to use drugs to control secondary epilepsy.In this article,we discuss the main nuances of antiepileptic drugs for the proper management of children with central nervous system tumors.

The Growing Evidence for Photobiomodulation as a Promising Treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease

Despite the current belief that there is no effective treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), one emerging modality may change this belief: Photobiomodulation (PBM). It has credible mechanisms and growing evidence to support its case. Transcranial PBM for AD is a single intervention with multiple pathway mechanisms stemming from delivering low energy near infrared (NIR) light to the mitochondria in brain cells. The mechanisms involve the activation of gene transcription that lead to neuronal recovery, removal of toxic plaques, normalizing network oscillations that can lead to improved cognition and functionality. When PBM is delivered at 810 nm wavelength and pulsed at 40 Hz, early evidence suggests that very significant outcomes are possible. Literature related to PBM and AD has covered in vitro cellular, animal and human case reports, with promising results. They warrant robust randomized trials which are either ongoing or ready to start. The evidence in human studies is manifested in assessment scales such ADAS-cog, MMSE, and ADAS-ADL, and are supported by fMRI imaging and EEG.
