At present, there are two ways to produce 99Mo in a reactor: 1) fission process—from U fission product by reaction 235U (n, f) 99Mo and 2) activation process—by radiation capture reaction 98Mo (n, γ) 99Mo. This paper presents the results of experiments performed with molybdenum carbide nano-powder to produce 99Mo. These results show the implementation of the above idea in practice.

Nd/Yb-co-doped YAG transparent ceramic nano-powder was prepared by a sol-gel combustion *** structure,morphology and properties were characterized by thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis,X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy,infrared spectroscopy,absorption analysis and fluorescence spectroscopy,*** results show that the mass loss of the powder calcinated at 900 ℃ for 3 h is 49.56%.A well-crystallized Nd/Yb:YAG nano-powder with the superior sintering performance and high purity is obtained,and the morphology of the particles with the average diameter in the range of 60-100 runs appears *** nano-powder exhibits an intense absorption at 808 nm,corresponding to the 4I/9/2-4F7/2 transition of Nd^(^(3+) ions,which is suitable to absorb the wavelength of 808 nm from a laser diode *** emission peak at 1046 nm of the Nd/Yb:YAG powder is more intense than that of Nd^(^(3+):YAG *** is indicated that the energy absorbed by Yb^(^(3+) ions from the laser diode source can be transmitted to Nd^(^(3+) ions based on the cross relaxation process of[(4F3/2)Nd,(2F7/2)Yb]-[(479/2)Nd,(2F5/2)Yb].

Hydroxyapatite （HA） nano-powder was synthesized via wet chemical technique in a used precipitation reaction, in which Ca（OH）2 and H3PO4 were used as precursors. Deionised water was used as a diluting media for the reaction and ammonia was used to adjust the pH. The synthetic HA nano-powder has some medical applications such as a coating material in orthopaedic implants and in dental. HA powder has been studied at different temperatures from 100 to 800 ℃ to achieve the stoichiometric Ca/P ratio 1.667. The optimum temperature was found to be 600 ℃. Above this temperature, the HA powder decomposed to CaO. The crystallite size of HA powder was found to be in the range of 8.47-24.47 nm. The crystallographic properties were evaluated by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy dispersive X- ray spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that, high purity of nano-hydroxyapatite powders could be obtained at low temperatures, and the crystallinity, crystallite size and Ca/P ratio of the resulting nanoparticles were found to be dependent on the calcination temperature. When Ca/P ratio exceeded 1.75, formation of CaO phase was observed.

By using microwave-assisted co-precipitation in aqueous phase, adding surface activation agent PEG-6000 into the mixture of InCl3 solution and SnCl4 solution, and dropping the ammonia solution with the density (volume ratio) of 1-0 to 1-4, ITO precursor was prepared at different reaction system temperatures of 35 ℃-85 ℃, then ITO nano-powder was obtained after it was calcinated at 800 ℃ for 1 h. The morphology of ITO nano-powder was characterized by SEM and its electrical conductivity was determined by conductivity meter. The effects of different temperatures and ammonia concentration in microwave-assisted reaction system on its morphology and electric conductivity were discussed. The experimental results indicate that with the dilution of the ammonia solution or the rise of reacting system temperature, the morphology of ITO particles is transformed from spherical to rod-like one with the decline of its electric conductivity. And the electric conductivity of ITO nano-powders with spherical morphology is higher than that of ITO nano-powders with rod-like morphology.

A thin film of blended poly-N-epoxypropylcarbazole（PEPC）（25 wt.%）,nickel phthalocyanine（NiPc）（50 wt.%） and ZnO nano-powder（25 wt.%） in benzene（5 wt.%） was spin-coated on a glass substrate with silver electrodes to produce a surface-type Ag/PEPC/NiPc/ZnO/Ag capacitive and resistive *** with two different PEPC/NiPc/ZnO film thicknesses（330 and 400 nm） were fabricated and *** effects of humidity on capacitance and resistance of the Ag/PEPC/NiPc/ZnO/Ag sensors were investigated at two frequencies of the applied voltage：120 Hz and 1 *** was observed that at 120 Hz under humidity of up to 95%RH the capacitance of the sensors increased by 540 times and resistance decreased by 450 times with respect to humidity conditions of 50%RH. It was found that the sensor with a thinner semiconducting film（330 nm） was more sensitive than the sensor with a thicker film（400 nm）.The sensitivity was improved when the sensor was used at a lower frequency as compared with a high *** is assumed that the humidity response of the sensors is associated with absorption of water vapors and doping of water molecules in the semiconductor blend *** had been proven by simulation of the capacitance-humidity relationship.

The ultra-high molecular mass polyethylene (UHMMPE) as an artificial joint acetabular material was filled with nano-powder of Al2O3 of various mass fractions. The effect of Al2O3 mass fraction on the hardness, wetting property and tribological properties of the Al2O3-UHMMPE composites under dry friction sliding against both stainless steel and Ti-6Al-4V alloy was investigated. The morphologies of the worn surfaces of composites were observed with optical microscope. The results show that, wetting property and wear resistance of the composites are improved by filling Al2O3, while the friction coefficient is decreased largely under dry friction as compared with that of the unfilled UHMMPE. This is attributed to the reinforcing function of the nano-powder of Al2O3 in the composites. The wear of UHMMPE is dominated by plowing, plastic deformation and fatigue wear; while the Al2O3-UHMMPE composites are characterized by the mild fatigue wear.

Humidity sensing properties of CU_2O-PEPC nanocomposite films

A blend of copper oxide nanopowder （Cu2O）, 3 wt.%, and poly-N-epoxypropylcarbazole （PEPC）, 2 wt.%, in benzol was drop-casted on glass substrates with pre-deposited surface-type silver electrodes for the fabrication of Cu20-PEPC nanocomposite thin films. The thicknesses of the Cu20-PEPC films were in the range of 10-13 μm. The effect of humidity on the electrical properties of the nanocomposite films was investigated by measuring the capacitance and dissipation of the samples at two different frequencies of the applied voltage： 120 Hz and 1 kHz. The AC resistance of the samples was determined from the dissipation values, and the DC resistance was measured directly. The effect of ageing on the humidity sensing properties of the nanocomposite was observed. After ageing, it was observed that at 120 Hz and 1 kHz, under a humidity of up to 86% RH, the capacitance of the cell increased by 85 and 8 times, and the resistance decreased by 345 and 157 times, accordingly, with respect to 30% RH conditions. It was found that with an increase in frequency, the capacitance and resistance of the samples decreased. It is assumed that the humidity response of the cell is associated with the diffusion of water vapors and doping of the semiconductor nanocomposite by water molecules.

The composite coating was prepared by thermal spray welding after making composite powder,which is composed of Ni-based self-melted alloy and AlOceramic powder including nano,sub-micron and micron *** influences of contents and sizes of AlOon the structure and wearability were *** results show that the wear resistance of the coating would be increased greatly by adding AlO,but the spray weldability decreases with increasing *** there is an optimal content of *** composite coating with AlOnano or sub-micron powder of 0.5% has the best abrasive resistance,while the optimal content of AlOmicron powder is 1 %.
