Esophageal myoepithelial carcinoma:Four case reports

BACKGROUND myoepithelial carcinoma(MC)is a clinically rare malignancy,there is controversy regarding its etiology and its biological behavior is not fully *** surgical resection is the main treatment *** describe a case of pleomorphic adenoma(PA)with multiple postoperative recurrences after malignant transformation,and the history of the disease in this patient was more than 20 *** resection during the first surgery of PA and long-term postoperative follow-up is *** SUMMARY A 34-year-old male with PA and a history of 5 postoperative recurrences over 21 years,each surgically removed,presented 15 d ago with headache,nasal congestion,protrusion of the right eyeball and loss of vision in the right eye,with progressively worsening *** patient underwent surgery,and MC was confirmed by pathology examination.A small PA component was locally visible under light *** patient had a recurrence of the tumor 2 mo after surgery and underwent surgical *** During the first operation for PA,care should be taken not to rupture the envelope to prevent tumor cell implantation,and when complete resection is not possible due to the anatomical site,postoperative radiotherapy is necessary to control the lesion and prevent infiltration and malignant transformation of the tumor to *** tomography and magnetic resonance imaging is important for establishing diagnosis and developing a treatment plan.

A Rare Case of myoepithelial carcinoma Associated with Recurrent Parotid Cancer Involving the Epiglottis: A Case Report and Comprehensive Literature Review

Background: myoepithelial carcinoma is a rare form of parotid gland cancer characterized by its specific histopathological features involving malignant epithelial and myoepithelial cells. The occurrence of myoepithelial carcinoma after recurrent parotid gland cancer is particularly rare. Methods: This study describes a patient with myoepithelial carcinoma associated with recurrent parotid gland cancer involving the epiglottis. It includes presentation, recurrence, diagnosis, surgery, and follow-up. A search of PubMed, Enhances, and UK Biobank yielded data on pathologic features and treatment approaches for myoepithelial carcinoma outcomes: The patient originally diagnosed with parotid carcinoma underwent parotidectomy. Recurrence revealed myoepithelial carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and spindle cell components. Total parotidectomy followed by partial laryngectomy, reconstruction of laryngeal function, tracheotomy, adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The patient was followed up with no evidence of disease. Conclusions: This case is an example of a rare local recurrence in the form of myoepithelial carcinoma after an initial diagnosis of parotid gland cancer. Surgical resection and chemoradiotherapy show promising results in the treatment of this difficult disease.

myoepithelial carcinoma,also called malignant myepithelioma,is usually reported in the head,neck and lung,which is a rare malignant tumor arising from salivary *** region of cavernous sinus is an uncommon condition of involvement in myoepithelial carcinoma,while there are no finding of the tumor in common sites. Here we describe a 48-year-old female who present a rapid developing myoepithelial carcinoma,with progressively worse clinical symptoms and *** patient eventually showed a worse prognosis,and was advised to pick up a radiotherapy after biopsy and endoscopic transsphennoidal surgery,even if the radiotherapy has showed unclear effect on the *** this report,we discuss the histopathologic and cellular morphologic uniqueness of this rare case.
