For the study of internal combustion engines,combustion control is an important method to achieve high efficiency and low emissions.Currently,in-cylinder pressure sensor-based closed-loop control strategies have become the preferred solution.However,their productional application in automotive industries is limited due to the cost of intensive pressure acquisition for a whole cycle and the calculation load of combustion phase indicators.This paper proposes a method of combustion phase estimation for spark ignition(SI)engines.In this method,the combustion phase is estimated only based on pressure measurements at several crank angles.Information entropy and Mutual information are introduced to analyze the feasibility and accuracy of the combustion phase estimation,which shows that the pressure measurements at selected points contain most of the information for the estimation.As a result,only pressure measurements at 3 points and ELM estimation models are required to obtain the combustion phase,instead of intensive data acquisition and calculation.

Pathophysiology of spinal cord injury:Injury to the spinal cord results in loss of gray and white matter i.e.,it produces a segmental spinal cord lesion and,as a consequence leads to a fatal loss of motor,sensory and autonomic functions.Spinal cord injuries in humans and other mammals are not followed by the replacement of lost neurons and oligodendrocytes and regrowth of injured axons,instead they lead to permanent,fatal and incurable functional deficits.The primary physical injury is followed by a cascade of tissue-decaying events,called secondary injury,which leads to ischemia,vascular disruption,neuroinflammation,excitotoxicity,demyelination and death of neurons and glial cells(Silva et al.,2014;Figure 1A).The direct mechanical disruption of the vasculature results in the increased permeability of the blood-spinal cord barrier.Due to the leakiness of blood-spinal cord barrier and production of cytokines by activated microglia,a number of various immune cells(T lymphocytes,neutrophils and monocytes)invade the injury site.The macrophages generate a set of inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin(IL)-1α,IL-1β,and IL-6,which may further augment the secondary events(Ahuja et al.,2017).In addition,a number of other disruptive processes contribute to the heterogeneous and time-sensitive pathophysiology of spinal cord injury.

A large amount of information is frequently encountered when characterizing the sample model in chemical process.A fault diagnosis method based on dynamic modeling of feature engineering is proposed to effectively remove the nonlinear correlation redundancy of chemical process in this paper.From the whole process point of view,the method makes use of the characteristic of Mutual information to select the optimal variable subset.It extracts the correlation among variables in the whitening process without limiting to only linear correlations.Further,PCA(Principal Component Analysis)dimension reduction is used to extract feature subset before fault diagnosis.The application results of the TE(Tennessee Eastman)simulation process show that the dynamic modeling process of MIFE(Mutual Information Feature Engineering)can accurately extract the nonlinear correlation relationship among process variables and can effectively reduce the dimension of feature detection in process monitoring.

To overcome the Mutual coupling (MC) of multiple antennas in millimeter wave (mmWave) communication systems, a novel beam design method with low complexity is proposed in this paper. Firstly, an equivalent channel model incorporating the effect of MC is analyzed and established, and then an optimal precoding / combiner vector for beamforming is derived. On this basis, by using greedy geometric (GG) algorithm, a novel hybrid beam design method is proposed. Finally, the performance of proposed method is analyzed and compared with other traditional ones. The simulation results show that the proposed method has better suppression of the MC effect as well as lower complexity.

The effect of gain-phase perturbations and Mutual coupling significantly degrades the performance of digital array radar(DAR). This paper investigates array calibration problems in the scenario where the true locations of auxiliary sources deviate from nominal values but the angle intervals are known. A practical algorithm is proposed to jointly calibrate gain-phase errors and Mutual coupling errors. Firstly, a simplified model of the distortion matrix is developed based on its special structure in uniform linear array(ULA). Then the model is employed to derive the precise locations of the auxiliary sources by one-dimension search. Finally, the least-squares estimation of the distortion matrix is obtained. The algorithm has the potential of achieving considerable improvement in calibration accuracy due to the reduction of unknown parameters. In addition,the algorithm is feasible for practical applications, since it requires only one auxiliary source with the help of rotation platforms. Simulation results demonstrate the validity, robustness and high performance of the proposed algorithm. Experiments were carried out using an S-band DAR test-bed.The results of measured data show that the proposed algorithm is practical and effective in application.

With the vigorous development of the Internet of Things and 5G technology, such as machine-to-machine and device-todevice, all kinds of data transmission including environmental monitoring and equipment control strengthens the key role of wireless sensor networks in the large-scale wireless communication system. However, especially in the complex industrial wireless applications, the low utilization efficiency of the limited wireless radio resource enhances the coexistence problem between heterogeneous networks. In this paper, from the severe Mutual interference point of view, a mathematical model regarding cumulative interferences in the industrial wireless sensor networks is described. Then, from the perspective of Mutual interference avoidance, an adaptive power control scheme is proposed in order to handle the normal communication needs on both the primary link and the secondary link. At last, nonlinear programming is taken to solve the corresponding optimization problem. Some typical analyses are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme on optimizing the tradeoff between the system throughput and energy consumption. Especially, the energy-efficiency of the novel scheme for Industrial Internet of Things is also analysed. Results show that the proposed power control is efficient. The throughput could be enhanced and the energy consumption could be reduced with the guarantee of Mutual interference avoidance.
