Angle of Attack(AOA) is a crucial parameter which directly affects the aerodynamic forces of an *** measurement of AOA is required to ensure a safe flight within its designed flight *** paper intends to summarise a comprehensive survey on the measurement techniques and estimation methods for AOA, specifically in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) *** the case of UAVs, weight constraint plays a major role as far as sensor suites are *** results in selecting a suitable estimation method to extract AOA using the available data from the *** most feasible and widely employed AOA measurement technique is by using the multi-hole probes(MHPs).The MHP measures the AOA regarding the pressure variations between the *** to the importance of MHP in AOA measurement, the calibration methods for the MHP are also included in this *** paper discusses the AOA measurement using virtual AOA sensors, their importance and the operation.

Numerical Investigation of the Influence of Reynolds Number on probe Measurements

The influence of Reynolds number (Re) on probe measurements was investigated numerically, including the effects of the pressure holes and their geometry to obtain accurate hole-pressures. The results indicate that Re influences the probe measurements and cannot be neglected for Re larger than 10 5 and that the influence increases with Mach number (Ma). The calculations show that the pressures in the downwind holes are influenced more by Re than those of the upwind and central holes when the probe is at an angle. Thus, 7-hole probes may be more suitable for measurements at different Re than 5-hole probes.[
