Effects of stability margin and thrust specific fuel consumption constrains on multi-disciplinary optimization for blended-wing-body design

Blended-Wing-Body(BWB) configuration, as an innovative transport concept, has become a worldwide research focus in the field of civil transports development. Relative to the conventional Tube-And-Wing(TAW) configuration, the BWB shows integrated benefits and serves as a most promising candidate for future ‘‘green aviation'. The objective of the present work is to figure out the effects of the stability margin and Thrust Specific Fuel Consumption(TSFC) on the BWB design in the framework of multi-disciplinary Optimization(MDO). A physically-based platform was promoted to study the effect static stability margin and engine technology level. Low-order physically based models are applied to the evaluation of the weight and the aerodynamic performance. The modules and methods are illustrated in detail, and the validation of the methods shows feasibility and confidence for the conceptual design of BWB aircrafts. In order to find out the relation between planform changes and the selection of stability and engine technology level, two sets of optimizations are conducted separately. The study proves that these two factors have dominant effects towards the optimized BWB designs in both aerodynamic shapes, weight distribution, which needs to be considered during the MDO design process. A balance diagram analysis is applied to find out a reasonable static stability margin range. It can be concluded that a recommended stability margin of a practical BWB commercial aircraft can be half of that of a conventional TAW design.

Traditionally, in the field of bilingual lexicography, the main task for lexicographers is to provide lexical equivalents in bilingual dictionaries by all possible means. And accordingly, how to provide appropriate or satisfying translation equivalents in bilingual dictionaries is always the centre of attention in bilingual metalexicography. However, the history of bilingual lexicography shows that it has never been an easy task, because of linguistic and cultural anisomorphism. The usual compromise made by most lexicographers is to introduce partial or explanatory equivalents. This recourse means that most bilingual lexicographers, unfortunately, more than often, fail to meet the needs of foreign language learners. Certain misconceptions about the translation equivalents emerge among the language learners, which explains the awkward situation that besets bilingual exicographers. The present contribution aims at perceiving lexicographical translation as a dynamic process by which an adequate semantic system in the target language would be set up to serve as a functionally equivalent defining system. By doing this, bilingual lexicographers should establish a powerful target language semantic network, in which lexicographical sections like verbal illustrations, usage notes and etymologies, etc. would be considered together with the translation equivalents as an integrated whole. This is an attempt to describe the essential features of lexicographical translation and its multi-disciplinary theoretical basis, in the hope that future practice in bilingual lexicography might be improved.

Reducing Paediatric Outpatient Waitlists—A Proposed Allied Health multidisciplinary Approach

Extremely long Australian paediatric outpatient waiting lists have resulted in large numbers of children waiting to see a paediatrician. Analyses of the patient referrals suggest that a large proportion of children may benefit from allied health input, in addition to being seen by the paediatrician. This paper provides an organisational strategy that involves streamlining Allied Health clinical services in an effort to assist with bringing down a Paediatric Out-patient waitlist. The paper describes principles to guide the formation of a Paediatric Allied Health multi-disciplinary team that proposes assessment and brief interventions. The service would focus on supporting the paediatricians through the use of structured procedures, telephone intakes, multidisciplinary triage, shared and standardised assessments, collaborative formulations and reports, brief interventions, clinical-community linkages, and allied health student support. A variety of additional important organisational principles are proposed to facilitate patient flow from the perspective of streamlining administrative processes, having adequate administrative support, shared responsibilities, teamwork, flexibility, carrying out intake assessments, determining which referrals were appropriate for allied health, and working closely with medical staff.

The engineering problems today become more and more complex particularly in the area of new product development. It requires the multi-disciplinary design method to solve complex problems. This paper presents an integrated design system for solving complexity during multi-disciplinary design. Complexity could be solved if the design problems, given by any individuals who are concerned, are structured. The design system uses the multi-viewpoint concept to allow experts to share their information and knowledge in common views. Knowledge modules are used to store semantics from the experts of different disciplines. Then the system agent acts as an internal designer to help support the individuals to translate any semantics provided from one discipline and then propagate to other related disciplines. With these tools, the integrated design system can structure and solve the complexity of design problems.

Background:In 2012,the Ugandan Government declared an epidemic of Nodding Syndrome(NS)in the Northern districts of Gulu,Kitgum,Lamwo and *** guidelines were developed and NS treatment centres were established to provide symptomatic control and ***,a wide gap remained between the predefined care standards and the quality of routine care provided to those *** study is to qualitatively assess adherence to accepted clinical care standards for NS;identify gaps in the care of affected children and offer Clinical Support Supervision(CSS)to Primary Health Care(PHC)staff at the treatment centres;and identify psychosocial challenges faced by affected children and their ***:This case study was carried out in the districts of Gulu,Kitgum,Lamwo and Pader in Uganda from September to December in *** the 5-stage approach of Clinical Audit,data were collected through direct observations and interviews with PHC providers working in public and private-not-for-profit health facilities,as well as with caregivers and political *** qualitative data was analysed using Seidel model of data ***:Clinical Audit and CSS revealed poor adherence to treatment *** affected children had suboptimal NS management resulting in poor seizure control and complications including severe *** causes of these outcomes were frequent antiepileptic drugs stock outs,migration of health workers from their work stations and psychosocial *** was hardly any specialized multidisciplinary team(MDT)to provide for the complex rehabilitation needs of the patients and a task shifting model with inadequate support supervision was employed,leading to loss of skills *** psychosocial and psychosexual issues associated with NS included early pregnancies,public display of sexual behaviours and child ***:Despite involvement of relevant MDT members in the development of multidisciplinary NS
