Law governing strata and ground movement due to sub-critical extraction

The strata movement induced by sub-critical extraction is a problem not receiving due attention because of its relatively small magnitude of deformation. However, with the increase of mining depth, sub-critical extraction has become a general phenomenon. This calls for an in-depth investigation into the characteristics of ground movements observed under different extents of sub-critical extraction, so as to determine the appropriate mining technique for use. Following a discussion of the factors influencing the extent of super-critical extraction, the super-critical extraction extent evaluation criteria was presented, the characteristics and laws of the strata and ground movements caused by such an extraction condition were systematically analyzed, and the mechanism of surface subsidence induced by sub-critical extraction was revealed. The result of study may serve as a basis for the development of the strata and ground movement prediction model and the mining techniques appropriate for use at depth beneath surface structures and buildings.

Based on conserved regions among genomic RNA of tobamoviruses, a pair of primers spanning the sequence encoding the movement protein were synthesized. A cDNA fragment of 1700bp was thus amplified by RT-PCR(reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction). The fragment was cloned into pGEM-T easy vector and sequenced. DNA sequence analysis showed that the fragment contained a region of 768 nucleotides encoding protein of 256 amino acid of frangipani mosaic virus (FMV) and also partial sequence corresponding to 180ku and 17. 5ku protein.

Based on the study of the location of extensional action in the tectonic background and the state of regional tectonic stress, the extensional action can be distinguished into active and passive types. The active extensional movement is mainly composed of a set of deposition formed under extensional stress and syntectonic and syndepositional deformational structure. The passive extentional movement is expressed as regional extensional action induced under the compressional elevation. Extensional movement and action are well\|developed in the Tibet\|Tethys domain. By the analysis of tectonic deformation, extensional unconformity, depositional facies and paleogeographical rebuilding in the South Tibet, it is recognized that the extensional movement consists of active extension of Hercynian, Indo\|China and Early Yanshan epochs, and the passive extension of Late Yanshan and Himalayan epochs. Some of the characteristics of extensional movement and structures are discussed in this paper(Table.1).

Protozoa can move due to their flagella, cilia or pseudopodia, and play an important role in the transformation and cycling of matter and energy in ecosystems. In this study, the glass beads with the diameters of 1. 0, 0.5, 0. 25 and 0.1 mm were used to simulate soil pores of 0. 292 - 0. 258, 0.155 - 0.116, 0.056 - 0.040 and 0.028 - 0.020 mm respectively. Three typical soil protozoa of Bodo edax, Colpoda cucullus and Amoeba proteus were examined for the relation of their movement to pores. It was found that the smallest protozoan of Bodo edax could be leached through all the pores. However, no more than 26% of the added protozoan was leached out of the column. The leached protozoa were decreased with the pore sizes and leaching duration. The bigger one of Colpoda cucullus was moved out from the column filled with the glass beads of > 0. 5 mm in diameter. Less than about 15% of the added protozoa were leached out of the column. The biggest one of Amoeba proteus could not leached out from any of the pores. It is evident that most of the protozoa remained in the column due to their occupation of the pores.

OBJECTIVE： Several studies have reported that acupuncture is effective for treatment of acute lumbar sprain, but they neglected to consider that acupuncture cannot remarkably improve lumbar activity. We performed a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the effect of acupuncture-movement therapy versus conventional acupuncture in the trea ment of acute lumbar sprain. METHODS： Sixty patients were randomized into four groups： the acupuncture-movement （AM） group, sham acupuncture-movement （SAM） group, conventional acupuncture （CA） group, and physical therapy （PT） group. Patients in the AM group were treated with acupuncture at Yintang （EX-HN 3） and exercise of the lumbar region during acupuncture. Patients in the SAM group were treated with sham acupuncture at Yintang （EX-HN 3） and exercise of the lumbar region during sham acupuncture. Con- ventional acupuncture was performed in the CA group, and physical therapy was applied in the PT group. Each treatment lasted for 20 min. Patients were assessed before and after treatment using a visual analogue scale （VAS） and the Roland Morris Questionnaire （RMQ）. RESULTS： The VAS and RMQ scores in the AM group were significantly lower after than before treatment （P 〈 0.01）. The AM group reported lower RMQ scores in after-treatment and 24 h after treatment and lower VAS score in 24 h after treatment in comparison with those of the CA, SAM, and PT groups （P 〈 0.05）. CONCULSlON： Acupuncture-movement therapy is effective for treating acute lumbar sprain with a persistent pain-relief and remarkable improvement of lumbar activity. movement, that is, lumbar exercise during acupuncture, enhances the effect of acupuncture.

To the Editor:Dislocation of the mobile bearing is the most common reason for revisions in Asian patients who undergo Oxford mobile-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty(Oxford MB UKA),with an incidence rate as high as 7.9%.[1]Multiple studies have shown that the bearing dislocation rate is significantly higher in Asian than in Western patients.[2]A poor bearing movement trajectory was considered one of the risk *** of the component results in a wider space between the margin of the bearing and the lateral wall of the tibial component,leading to a poor bearing movement trajectory and even bearing *** superior surface is designed with high surrounding rims(higher in the anterior and posterior parts,lower in the medial and lateral parts).When rotation occurs,the lower rim loses its restriction to mutual movement of the bearing and femoral component,which leads to dislocation.
