Traditional agroecosystem transition in mountainous area of Three Gorges Reservoir area

The Three Gorges Reservoir area(TGRA)is typical of an ecologically vulnerable area,comprised of rural and mountainous areas,and with high *** of its economic and ecologic importance,studying the traditional agroecosystem changes in the TGRA is key to rural development and *** this study,we apply a framework of theoretical analysis,empirical study,and trend prediction to the Caotangxi River watershed within the *** QuickBird high-resolution remote sensing images from 2012 to 2017 to evaluate natural resources and farmers’behavior,we analyze the transition and trends in the traditional agroecosystem in mountainous areas of the TGRA at spatial scale of the man-land *** find that the agroecosystem in the TGRA can be divided into four modes using 100 m interval buffer rings:high-low-low,high-low-high,low-high-low and low-low-high mode where the different modes represent the agricultural development stages in the ***,the traditional agroecosystem in TGRA,represented by system elements such as farmers and sloping farmland,is transforming to accommodate the diversification of farmer *** example,sloping farmland,which was dominated by a production function,now has equal emphasis on ecological and economic ***,the range of the agroecosystem transition has migrated beyond high mountain areas to flat valley ***,this study provides an overview of land use in rural areas,controls on soil and water loss in mountainous areas,and better rural living environments in the TGRA.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON THE WIND FIELD STRUCTURE OF A mountainous area BESIDE SOUTH CHINA SEA DURING THE LANDFALL OF TYPHOON MOLAVE

Leveraging the commercial CFD software FLUENT,the fine-scale three-dimensional wind structure over the Paiya Mountains on the Dapeng Peninsula near Shenzhen,a city on the seashore of South China Sea,during the landfall of Typhoon Molave has been simulated and *** the study,a conceptual wind structure model for mountainous areas under strong wind condition is established and the following conclusions are obtained as follows:(1)FLUENT can reasonably simulate a three-dimensional wind structure over mountainous areas under strong wind conditions;(2)the kinetic effect of a mountain can intensify wind speed in the windward side of the mountain and the area over the mountain peak;and(3)in the leeward side of the mountain,wind speed is relatively lower with relatively stronger wind shear and turbulence.

Method for groundwater research in bedrock of mountainous area of Hebei

In recent years, the mountain springs in the bedrock mountainous area of Hebei are decreasing in terms of both quantity and flow rate, which have affected the domestic water and production water supply for people in this area, due to which driven wells have been built with the expectation to relieve the problem. However, this work doesn’t achieve much success due to the complex geological conditions in the bedrock mountainous area and tends to cause huge economic losses. In order to improve the success rate of this work, the authors of this paper made a summary about the type of reservoir structure, water storage conditions and characteristics, by drawing experience from the former practices of digging wells in the mountainous area of Hebei to search for water to relieve drought in 2011, referring to the research results about bedrock summarized by former researchers, employing the reservoir structure theory and by considering the stratum condition of the bedrock mountain area of Hebei. Based on the summary, the authors figure out the major reservoir structure and water research methods for mountainous regions where have metamorphic rocks, carbonate rocks and volcanic rocks distributed, which may offer some valuable guidance to future water researches in the bedrock mountainous area of Hebei.

Through the investigation,this paper analyzes the important restricting factors for the tobacco farmers in Enshi Badong mountainous area from 2018 to 2021,including the age structure,the loss situation,the number of years of planting tobacco,the scale of planting tobacco and the benefit of planting *** paper puts forward some corresponding measures and suggestions,such as cultivating the team of professional tobacco farmers,establishing the team of young tobacco farmers,expanding professional services,developing"tobacco plus"diversified industries,and popularizing suitable agricultural machinery in mountainous areas in order to effectively improve the stability of the team of tobacco farmers.

An effective way to treat the iron-rich acid mine drainage from coal mining in Guizhou’s mountainous areas

Acid Mine Drainage(AMD)from coal mining is a serious environmental issue which affects water quality,ecology,and the overall landscape of the basin.A large number of coal mine tailings in the mountainous regions of Guizhou Province,China were unattended and iron-rich AMD was directly discharged to the *** discharge leaves the river―yellow‖and heavily *** study tries to find an efficient and economical method for treating iron-rich *** sampled AMD water in two sites:Yangliujie town of Duyun city(hereafter,called Yangliujie),and Xinglong Coal Mine,Duliu town of Guiding county(hereafter,called Xinglong).We performed iron removal laboratory experiment with Cement-Bentonite Agent(CBA,80%cement and 20%bentonite)in 500 mL AMD water from Yangliujie,scale-up experiment in 15 L AMD water from both Yangliujie and Xinglong,and engineering application in Xinglong *** experiment results showed the iron removal rate can reach 99.8%and the removal rate depends on the CBA dosage and the treatment *** the scale-up experiment,we found that Fe concentration could be reduced from 587.0 to 0.2 mg/L when adding 20 g/L CBA to the AMD water and aerating for 3 *** sampled water in Xinglong has a very high Fe concentration(Fe 1019.8 mg/L)and the concentration varies with seasons,it is not economical to add the CBA directly to the AMD *** the abundant and cheap limestone resources in Guizhou,we used a twostep treatment method,first we added CaCO3 to raise the pH,and then we took the supernatant liquor and added CBA to the *** was shown that 15 g/L of CBA was a good dosage for iron removal with Fe concentration being reduced from 1019.8 to 0.3 mg/L when CaCO3 was used to raise the *** best treatment realized over 99.9%iron removal,99.2%NH3-N removal,98.9%CODMn removal,and heavy metals in the treated water were reduced to under the limit stipulated in the―Environmental Quality Standards of Surface Water in China‖.Thus in th

Farmland marginalization in the mountainous areas： Characteristics, influencing factors and policy implications

Based on SPOT-5 images, 1：1 million topographic maps, the maps of the returning farmland to forest project and the Chongqing forest project, social and economic statistics, etc., this paper identifies the features and factors influencing farmland marginalization. The results showed：（1） During 2002-2012, the rate of farmland marginalization was 16.18%, which was mainly found in the high areas of northern Qiyao mountains and the medium-altitude areas of southern Qiyao mountains. And this farmland marginalization will increase, associated with non-agriculturalization of rural labourers and aging of the remaining labourers. （2） Elevation, distance radius from villages and road connections had a great in- fluence on farmland marginalization. Farmland marginalization rates showed an increasing trend with the increase of elevation, and 60.88% of the total farmland marginalization area is found at an altitude greater than 1000 m above sea level. The marginalization trend also increases with slope and distance from the distribution network. （3） Farmland area per labourer and the average age of farm labourers were major factors driving farmland marginalization. Farmland transfer and small agricultural machinery sets affect farmland marginalization with respect to management and productivity efficiency. （4） Farmland with ＂comparative-disadvantage-dominated marginalization＂ accounted for 55.32% of the total farmland marginalization area, followed by ＂location-dominated marginalization＂（33.80%）. （5） According to the specifics of each real situation, different policies are suggested to mitigate the margin- alization. A ＂continuous marginalization＂ policy will encourage the return of farmland to forest in ＂terrain-dominated marginalization＂. An ＂anti-marginalization＂ policy is suggested to create new rural accommodation and improve the rural road system to counteract ＂terrain-dominated marginalization＂. Circular agriculture is an inevitable course to realize positive cycle of ecology and harmonious development of rural areas. Beijing＇s mountainous areas depend on the background and orientation of ecological economy for sustainable development. It is of great significance to explore the development of the circular agriculture in the mountainous areas to facilitate sustainable use of agriculture resources. Beijing＇s mountainous areas have accumulated considerable experiences in boosting the circular agriculture. By summarizing the modes of circular agriculture in mountainous areas and analyzing their actual practices, the paper proposes we need to give high priority to strengthening publicity efforts, giving full play to resources advantages of mountainous areas, and establishing a management mechanism and operation mechanism to promote the development of circular agriculture in Beijing.

Seeking Urbanization Routes for Fragile Human Settlements in mountainous areas:A Peculiar Practice for China's Western Region

Based on a deep understanding of the significant strategic role of urbanization during the development of China's western region, this paper sets out to investigate the characteristics of urbanization in the west from the perspectives of population and demographic growth, the level of urbanization, migration, and so forth, and then moves on to examine the major constraints to urbanization and suggest priorities for coordinated development in terms of protection of the ecological environment, poverty elimination, ethnic prosperity, and border security. By summarizing the typical urbanization modes, the paper argues that the healthy urbanization of China's western region should be promoted in a scientific way under the guiding thoughts of "amenable to state intervention, oriented to people's livelihood, suitable for local conditions, and subject to orderly progression."

Rural tourism industry is a new typical tourism industry in China to promote the strategic integration and linkage development of secondary and tertiary industries,and has developed into a new path to promote the strategic integration and development of rural major projects and revitalize industries[1].At present,China's rural cultural tourism is developing rapidly,but there are also some problems,such as single construction mode,accurate product positioning,lack of cultural connotation,etc.,facing the development dilemma of high quality[2].Under the background of rural revitalization strategy,the overall development of eco-tourism is an important direction of rural tourism development[3].Meiling town is located in the present Xinjian District of Nanchang City(the former Wanli District).As the central garden of Nanchang City,Meiling town has a good tourism foundation and rich eco-tourism resources,with good prospects of eco-tourism *** Xujia Village in Meiling town as an example,this article analyzes the favorable and unfavorable factors of rural tourism development,and puts forward a new rural tourism development road with rural tourism as the center,ecological civilization construction as the core and rural reconstruction as the guiding concept.

Global geopotential models have not included the very high frequencies of the Earth’s external gravity *** is called omission *** omission error becomes more important in mountainous areas(areas with highly variable topography).The work reported here consists in reducing the omission error in measurements of Bouguer gravity anomalies,by refining the global geopotential model EGM2008 using the spectral enhancement *** method consists in computing the residual terrain effects and then coupling them to the gravimetric signal of the global geopotential *** compute the residual terrain effects,we used the Residual Terrain Model(RTM)*** refine it required a reference surface(ETOPO1)developed up to degree 2190(the maximum degree of the EGM2008 model)and a detailed elevation model(AW3D30).Computation was performed with the TC program of the GRAVSOFT *** topography of the study area was assumed to have a constant density of 2670 kg/*** the inner and outer zones,the respective integration radii of 10 km and 200 km have been *** obtained very important RTM values ranging from−53.59 to 34.79 *** values were added to the gravity anomalies grid of the EGM2008 model to improve accuracy at high *** a part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line and its surroundings(mountainous area),we made a comparison between the residual Bouguer anomalies before and after *** report differences ranging from−37.40 to 26.40 *** conclude that the impact of omission error on gravimetric signatures is observed especially in areas with high variable topography,such as on the Cameroon Volcanic Line and around the localities of Takamanda,Essu,Dumbo,and *** finding illustrates the great influence that topography has on accurate measurement of these gravity anomalies,and thus why topography must be taken into *** can conclude that in preparing a global geopotential model,a high resolution DTM must be used to decrease
