The size and shape of tooth crowns are morphogenetically predetermined during *** maxillary central incisors have contributed to sexual dimorphism,and several classifications of the form of maxillary central incisors are available in the ***,in the present study,aimed to analyze the mesiodistal(MD)measurements at two levels of maxillary central incisor,to determine its crown *** study was conducted on 100 dental plaster models(50 males and 50 females).The MD dimensions at the contact area level MD_incisal(MD_I)and at the gingival papilla level(MD_G)and the gingivo‑incisal height of the crown were measured in the dental models using digital Vernier *** data were analyzed using SPSS version 16 statistical *** mean values of all the three parameters measured were slightly greater for males and also for the left central *** were no significant differences in all the three variables when the right and left incisors were *** differences were noted when the parameters are compared between *** height/width ratio of crown showed a significant difference between male and *** value of the ratio between the two MD dimensions(MD_I and MD_G)was used to determine the crown *** ratio between the MD dimensions at incisal and gingival area showed a significant difference between genders and no such significance was found between right and left central *** is a significant difference in the form of maxillary central incisors between male and female samples and not between right and *** MD dimensions at incisal and gingival thirds decide the form of crown.

Intraspecific morphometric diversity of barramundi (Lates calcariferBloch, 1790) in the waters of southern Bangladesh

A total of 160 barramundi's (Lates calcarifer Bloch, 1790) sampled from four rivers (Tentulia, Balaswar, Bakkhali, and Andarmanik) along the southern coastal region of Bangladesh were investigated in terms of morphometric characters to reveal the intraspecific variation. Twenty-five morphometric measurements were extracted using the conventional method and subjected to multivariate analyses (i.e., principal component analysis (PCA), discriminate function analysis (DFA), cluster analysis (CA)) to distinguish individuals from different rivers. The result demonstrated that twenty-two out of 25 measurements was statistically significant (Univariate ANOVA) among all four populations. PCA analysis of morphometric characters resulted in two principal components, PC I and PCⅡ which accounted for 79.25% and 4.28% of the total data variance. PC I-PC Ⅱ plot explained 83.53% of total variance differentiated the population of L. calcarifer into two groups. Discriminate analysis correctly classified about 88.1% of the examined fish into the four areas. The UPGMA dendrogram showed that Bakkhali populations were the most morphologically different populations in comparison to other populations, while Andarmanik and Balaswar populations were very close to each other. The strong morphometric variation between Bakkhali and Tentulia, Andarmanik and Balaswar was observed in the present study, suggested the evidence of the separate stock population of barramundi in these locations, which might require distinct stock management strategies for resource sustainability in the waters of southern Bangladesh. However, if these findings are supported by further molecular markers and geometric morphometry, this would be a strong indication of different stocks of this population in the four rivers of southern Bangladesh.

Geometric morphometric analysis of the early Pleistocene hominin teeth from Jianshi,Hubei Province,China

Although the early Pleistocene hominin fossils found in East Asia continent are widely recognized as the earliest hominins migrated from Africa, debates remain on the morphology and taxonomy of these fossils. In this study, dental crown shape of the three early Pleistocene hominin teeth (P3, M1, and M1) found in Jianshi, Hubei Province of China was analyzed by means of geometric morphometrics. The comparative samples of fossil hominins from Africa, Asia, and Europe as well as those of modern humans (N=257) were used. The results indicate that the contour, asymmetry, and cusp patterns of these three types of teeth differ obviously between the fossil hominins and modern humans. The crown shape of P3 in most fossil hominins including Australopithecus, African early Homo, and Asian Pleistocene hominins are asymmetric with their crown occlusal contours long and curving elliptic-shaped. The occlusal contour of the fossil hominin M1 is symmetric and rectangle-shaped with no marked cusp protrusion. The crown shape of fossil M1 is characterized by asymmetric contour with slightly projected metaconid and hypoconid. On the contrary, in modern Chinese and some European late Pleistocene hominins, the crowns of P3s show symmetric contours with buccal side wider than lingual side; the crown shape of M1 is asymmetric with lingual cusp distalplaced, especially for hypoconid; the M1 has symmetric and round crown contour. Our study reveals that Australopithecus has wide variations in its crown shape, whereas these dental morphospaces of Asian hominins are closely placed. The crown contour, symmetry, and cusp patterns of these three teeth of Jianshi hominin resemble those of Asian early and middle Pleistocene hominins. No marked difference in dental crown shape is shown between the Jianshi hominin and other Chinese Homo erectus, and there is also no evidence in support of the Jianshi hominin's closeness to Australopithecus and African early Homo members.

The crown form of maxillary central incisor tooth is one of the vital phenomenon for a person’s *** crown form has been compared with other anatomical parameters such as arch form and facial *** different classes of tooth forms which relate to square,tapered,and ovoid forms are *** aim of this study was to morphometrically evaluate the correlation between maxillary dental arch form and the maxillary central incisor crown *** cast models of fifty male and fifty female normal occlusion controls in the age group of 18-23 years were *** mesiodistal(MD)dimensions of the maxillary central incisors were measured at incisal(MD_I)and at gingival(MD_G)*** transverse widths of maxillary casts were measured at the first molar and at the first premolar *** measured data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS *** MD dimensions of maxillary central incisor were significantly greater in males than *** ratio between the two MD dimensions also varied significantly among *** intermolar width(IMW)and interfirst premolar width(IPmW)between males and females were highly significant(P<0.05),whereas the ratio between these two parameters in males and females was not significant(P=0.43).Eighty‑eight percentage of the participants were found to have an ovoid type of maxillary arch,while only 45%of them had the ovoid form of maxillary central *** MD_I and the IMW were found to be in the ratio of 1:5.5 in both *** MD_G and the IPmW were in the ratio of 1:4.7 in males and 1:4.5 in *** was a weak positive correlation between MD_I and IMW(r^(2)=0.146)and between MD_G and IPmW(r^(2)=0.05).No significant concordance between the maxillary central incisor crown form and the maxillary arch form was found in this study.

morphometric ANALYSIS AND MODEL ASSESSMENT OF GASTRIC CARCINOMA AND PRECANCEROUS LESIONS OF STOMACH

Ninety-four pathologic specimens of gastric mucosa with lesions including simple intestinal metaplasia, intestinal types of mild, moderate, severe dysplasia and gastric carcinoma were submitted to morphometric analysis by an automated image analysis system. Four kinds of indices and four geometric parameters were measured. They were: (1) Index of Structural Atypism (ISA); (2) Index of Glandular Formation (IGF); (3) Index of Nuclei-Gland ratio (ING); (4) Widthen of Nuclear Band (WNB); (5) Geometric parameters of cell nuclei: including Area, Perimeter, Mean Diameter, and Contour. Apart from Contour, these variables were increased with increasing degrees of atypism in the various types of gastric mucosal lesions. Hence the indices and parameters may be used as objective diagnostic criteria. An assessment model was established for discriminating various types of lesions. The coincidence rate between the model assessment and the original histopathologic diagnosis was 86.1%. morphometric analysis may provide a means of standardizing pathologic diagnosis and grading of gastric precancerous lesions.

morphometric Characterization of the Grasshopper Sparrow (Ammodramus savannarum) and Baird’s Sparrow (Ammodramus bairdii) during the Wintering Season

Grassland bird populations have declined more than any other group of bird species in North America. Some species such as the grasshopper (Ammodramus savannarum) and Baird’s sparrows (Ammodramus bairdii) are of particular conservation concern, since they have shown negative trends in their population over the last 50 years. Their winter ecology has only begun to be studied recently and information is limited. The purpose of this study is to achieve the morphometric characterization of these two grassland species during the wintering season. The study is conducted in the Rancho Santa Teresa located in Villa Hidalgo, Durango, Mexico and the Ecological reserve “El Uno”, located in Janos, Chihuahua, Mexico. During winter 2013-2014, 135 birds were captured;banded and zoometric measurements were taken such as total body weight, wing chord, tail length, culmen, and beak depth and width. Two indices of body condition (BCI) are also calculated. All measurements and indices are compared per species and per sex. Both species are sexed with molecular techniques, determining 20 females and 18 males for A. bairdii and 41 females and 56 males for A. savannarum. All variables are significant different between species (p < 0.05). Beak measurements are not significantly different when comparing birds of different sexes (same species), with the exception of beak width of A. bairdii (p < 0.05). Male’s weight, wing chord, tail length, as well as one of the body condition indices (BCI2) are significantly higher (p < 0.05) than females’ for both species. BCI1 shows significant differences (p < 0.05) between species and sexes in A. bairdii. The biometric data obtained in this study can be used as reference values wintering populations of both species.

morphometric Analysis of Kakoi River Watershed for Study of Neotectonic Activity Using Geospatial Technology

morphometric analysis is defined as the quantitative measurement of landscape shape. morphometric studies of a watershed helps the researcher to compare different landform and calculate the geomorphic indices that may be useful for identifying a particular characteristic such as the level of neotectonic activity in a watershed. The present study has been carried out in Kakoi River Watershed which is a part of Lower Subansiri River Basin in Assam. The study area is geo-dynamically unstable region characterized by active faults, continuing crustal movements and complicated structural region which fall under the seismic zone V of India. In recent century, the Lower Suabsiri River Basin has gone tremendous morphological changes due to active tectonics activities. After the Assam Earthquake of 1950, some of the rivers like Subansiri and its tributaries Dirgha, Kadam and Kakoi suddenly changed their channels giving birth to new channels. The present study is to examine the neotectonic domains and the changes of river course. The geomorphic indices such as Hypsometric Integral (HI), Elongation ratio (Re), Asymmetry Factor (AF), Stream-length Gradient Index (SI), Mountain Front Sinuosity (Mfs), Basin shape index (Bs), Ratio of Valley floor width to Valley Height (Vf) and Channel sinuosity (S) etc. have been studied from remote sensing data. The results shows that the study area is under active tectonic area based on Vf (0.301), Rl (0.461), Bs (3.6), Sl (165.73) and other parameters such as S (1.38) and Mfs (2.02) indicated as moderate active tectonic region. Utilization of geospatial technology and remote sensing data in the present study becomes more reliable and helpful in analyzing, monitoring and understanding the landform changes in a watershed.

One handred thrity-one foci of gastric mucosa with intestinal type of lesions (including simple intestinal metaplasia 27;intestinal type dysplasia in different grades: mild 30, moderate 35, sever 20; intestinal type of gastric carcinoma 19) have been submitted to morphometric analysis using automatic image analysis system (Quantimet 900). The ratio of the area of nucleus to the area of cells per gland was measured by image analysis, and was referred as index of nucleus-gland ratio (ING) which represented the size and quantity of nuclei as well as the degree of their pseudostratification. The mean values and standard deviations of ING measured in each group were as follows: (1) simple intestinal metaplasia (as control group): 0.165-4-0.025; (2) mild dysplasia: 0.21±0.023; (3) moderate dysplasia: 0.259±0.026; (4) severe dysplasia: 0.32±0.028; (4) differentiated carcinoma: 0.371±0.052. In addition, the ING values showed a normal distribution in each group and statistically significant difference among them by t-test (P<0.01). Thus, ING is a useful parameter for the diagnosis of gastric precancerous lesions.

morphometric Indices and Enteroparasitic Infestation of Clarias gariepinus(Burchell, 1822) in a Tropical Reservoir

The study was carried out using 328 Clarias gariepinus specimens over a period of two years, from Oba reservoir (08°3'N to 08°12'N and 004°6'E to 004°12'E) Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. Standard methods were used to determine length-weight relationship, condition factor, and enteroparasitic infestation of the fish in the reservoir. Generally, Fish growth was positively allometric, while infested male and female fishes had negative allometric growth. The general well-being of the male fish was better than that of the female fish. Smaller sized fishes were better adapted to the ecological conditions of the reservoir than the bigger fishes. Parasites recovered were two Nematodes (Procamallanus laevionchus, Paracamallanus cyathopharynx), three Cestodes (Anomotaenia sp. Monobothrium sp., Polyonchobothrium clariae), and one Acanthocephalan (Neoechinorhynchus rutili). Sex ratio was 1.3:1 (male: female). Parasitic prevalence and intensity in the fish were sex and season dependent. The effect of enteroparasites in the life of infested C. gariepinus was found to probably be a major factor responsible for the low percentage of good fit to the line of regression (R2) in females. Infestation also led to loss of weight in infested fishes and this affected morphometric values in which body weight was an index.
