To restore the sub image in a rosette scanning system and provide target recognition system with a low distorted image, the sub image is processed with morphological filters. morphological filter can process rosette scanning sub images more effectively. It can restore the original area and shape of an object effectively, and keep the energy information of the object. To process sub images got by a rosette scanning system, morphological filter is more effective than traditional low pass filter.

＜正＞ In this paper, based on the basic morphological filters and correlation theory, a combined weighted multilevel morphological filter is proposed for smoothing the rough edges of the target detected from an electro-optical image. In computer simulation, the results show that the filter not only improves the boundaries of the target but also saves its characteristics. This work lays the foundation of target detection and recognition of electro-optical trackers.

It is widely accepted that the design of morphological filters, which are optimal in some sense, is a difficult task. In this paper a novel method for optimal learning of morphological filtering parameters (Genetic training algorithm for morphological filters, GTAMF) is *** adopts new crossover and mutation operators called the curved cylinder crossover and master-slave mutation to achieve optimal filtering parameters in a global searching. Experimental results show that this method is practical, easy to extend, and markedly improves the performances of morphological filters. The operation of a morphological filter can be divided into two basic problems including morphological operation and structuring element (SE) selection. The rules for morphological operations are predefined so that the filter's properties depend merely on the selection of SE. By means of adaptive optimization training, structuring elements possess the shape and structural characteristics of image targets, and give specific information to SE. morphological filters formed in this way become certainly intelligent and can provide good filtering results and robust adaptability to image targets with clutter background.

In this paper, a generalized parallel weighted-average multidirectional morphological filtering algorithm is presented to suppresing speckle noise. Simulation shows the algorithm can not only effectively suppress speckle noise but also preserve the geometrical features of images. Through comparison, it is proved that the algorithm is superior to F. Safa algoritm.

The current morphological wavelet technologies utilize a fixed filter or a linear decomposition algorithm, which cannot cope with the sudden changes, such as impulses or edges in a signal effectively. This paper pre- sents a novel signal processing scheme, adaptive morpho- logical update lifting wavelet （AMULW）, for rolling element bearing fault detection. In contrast with the widely used morphological wavelet, the filters in AMULW are no longer fixed. Instead, the AMULW adaptively uses a morphological dilation-erosion filter or an average filter as the update lifting filter to modify the approximation signal. Moreover, the nonlinear morphological filter is utilized to substitute the traditional linear filter in AMULW. The effectiveness of the proposed AMULW is evaluated using a simulated vibration signal and experimental vibration sig- nals collected from a bearing test rig. Results show that the proposed method has a superior performance in extracting fault features of defective roiling element bearings.

A novel method based on independent component analysis and phase congruency is proposed for detecting defects in textile fabric images. By independent component, we can obtain textile structural features of fabric-free images. By phase congru- ency, structure information is reduced, which can distinguish the defect region from the defect-free regions. Finally, we have the detecting result from binary image which is obtained by a thresh- old step, Compared with other algorithms, the proposed method not only has robustness with high detection rate, but also detects various types of defects quite well.

＜正＞ -Epileptic EEG often contains abnormal spiky activity which is diagnostically important. It is proposed that the multi-resolution wavelet transform with mathematical morphology can be used to detect and extract this activity. Differentiating the geometrical characteristics between spikes and normal EEG activity, the process extracts the target patterns from the EEG data in the multi-resolution domains. morphological analysis utilizes analytic operations based on a pre-defined structuring element （SE） targeted to specific signal features. In our case the SE is defined as a disk to measure the difference in smoothness between the two components. Discrete wavelet transforms are applied to construct the processed signal. The multi-resolution property of the wavelet transform adapts well to the time-invariant nature of the signal. Combining mathematical morphology and wavelet transforms, this method successfully separates the background activity and transient phenomenon from epileptic EEG. Although the morphological operation is a non-linear process, we show that, with the selected structuring element, this approach has ability to detect both positive and negative going spikes identically.
