Achieving efficient adsorption and desorption processes by controllably tuning the properties of adsorbents at different technical stages is extremely ***,it is difficult for traditional adsorbents to reach the target because of their fixed active ***,we report on the fabrication of a smart adsorbent,which was achieved by introducing photoresponsive azobenzene derivatives with cis/trans isomers to Ce-doped mesoporous *** photoresponsive groups serve as “molecular switches”by sheltering and exposing active sites,leading to efficient adsorption and *** is also doped to provide additional active sites in order to enhance the adsorption *** results show that the cis isomers effectively shelter the active sites,leading to the selective adsorption of methylene blue(MB)over brilliant blue(BB),while the trans isomers completely expose the active sites,resulting in the convenient release of the *** selective adsorption and efficient desorption can be realized controllably by these smart adsorbents through ***,the performance of the obtained materials is well maintained after five cycles.

In contrast to the static operations of conventional semiconductor devices,the dynamic conformational freedom in molecular devices opens up the possibility of using individual molecules as new types of devices such as a molecular conformational switch or for molecular data *** molecules such as those having two stable cis and trans isomeric confi gurations could provide,once clamped between two electrodes,a switching phenomenon in the non-equilibrium current ***,we model molecular switch junctions formed at silicon contacts and demonstrate the potential of such tunable molecular switches in electrode/molecule/electrode confi *** the non-equilibrium Green function(NEGF)approach implemented with the density-functional-based tight-binding(DFTB)theory,a series of properties such as electron transmissions,current voltage characteristics in the different isomer conformations,and potential energy surfaces(PESs)as a function of the reaction coordinates along the trans to cis transition were calculated for two azobenzene-based model ***,in order to investigate the stability of molecular switches under ambient conditions,molecular dynamics(MD)simulations at room temperature were performed and time-dependent fl uctuations of the conductance along the MD pathways were *** numerical results show that the transmission spectra of the cis isomers are more conductive than trans counterparts inside the bias window for both model *** currentvoltage characteristics consequently show the same ***,calculations of the time-dependent transmission fluctuations along the MD pathways have shown that the transmission in the cis isomers is always signifi cantly larger than that in their trans counterparts,showing that molecular switches can be expected to work as robust molecular switching components.

Controlling multicolor luminescence in a single chromophore is of fundamental significance but remains a great *** this study,a carbazole group was incorporated into terpyridine through acylamide to produce a novel chromophore(N-{4-[(2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine)-4′-yl]benzyl}-9-hexyl-9H-carbazole-3-carboxamide,TBCC)for achieving programmable luminescence *** different emission states,such as nonemissive,blue,green,yellow,red,and white,were achieved in situ by controlling sol–gel transformation with sonication/heat and the reversible metal–ligand coordination between TBCC and various metal salts.

The engineering of switchable moleculeswith dramatic magnetic change is currently among themost active areas in chemical ***,two cyanide-bridged mixed-valence{Fe^(Ⅲ)_(4)Fe^(Ⅱ)_(4)}cubes were prepared,both of which,interestingly,exhibited reversible thermally inducedmetal-to-metal charge transfer(MMCT)behavior between{Fe^(Ⅲ,LS)_(4)Fe^(Ⅱ,HS)_(4)}and{Fe^(Ⅱ,LS)_(4)Fe^(Ⅲ,HS)_(4)}configurations with the transition temperature(T_(1/2))of 274 and 230 K,*** cubes provided a rare example of discrete homometallic complexes exhibiting the reversible MMCT rather than spin crossover *** stark contrast to the heterometallic Fe/Co system,in which the charge transfer(CT)and spin transition(ST)processes occur simultaneously,the detailed structural and Mössbauer spectroscopy analyses confirmed the CT property without involving *** addition,both of these cubes showed excellent redox flexibility in solutionwith seven quasi accessible electronic states.

Molecules with switchable quadratic nonlinear optical(NLO) properties,as represented by reversible switching of the second harmonic generation(SHG) between SHG-ON and SHG-OFF states,are of growing interest. In the present work,a new organic-inorganic hybrid high-temperature solid-state nonlinear optical(NLO) switch material,[NH(CH)NH]SbCI(1),showing switchable second harmonic generation(SHG) effect between SHG-OFF and SHG-ON states and tunable dielectric behaviors between high and low dielectric states,has been successfully *** undergoes a centrosymmetric-to-noncentrosymmetric symmetry breaking phase transition at 365.4K from Pnma in the high temperature phase to P222 in the room temperature *** crystal structure is composed of one-dimensional zigzag chains of corner-sharing SbCl octahedra and 1,5-pentanediammonium *** the deformation of the zigzag chains and the order-disorder transition of the 1,5-pentanediammonium cations play essential roles in the mechanism of this phase *** SHG and dielectric switching activities are also connected with the order-disorder transition of the 1,5-pentanediammonium *** findings will pave a new way to explore high-temperature solid-state NLO switches and multiple molecular switches.
