Methylene blue(MB) is a hydrophobic drug molecule, having importance both as a staining reagent and pharmaceutical agent. MB is strongly fluorescent, with an emission peak at 686 nm(λ_(ex)665 nm). In the study,the possibility of MB as an extrinsic fluorophore to study the micellization behavior of bile salts(BSs) was carried out. Since BSs are drug delivery systems, the solubilization of hydrophobic MB drug molecule by BSs was achieved and the nature of association of MB with BS media, namely sodium cholate(Na C) and sodium deoxycholate(Na DC) was evaluated. Change in the photophysical properties of MB is monitored through fluorescence intensity and fluorescence anisotropy at emission peak, 686 nm of MB. Molecular Mechanics calculations were carried out to evaluate the MB–BS association. The estimated heat of formation, ΔH_f values are –625.19 kcal/mol for MB–Na C and –757.48 kcal/mol for MB–Na DC. The photophysical study also revealed that MB reports the step-wise aggregation pattern of BSs media, as an extrinsic fluorescence probe.

Since its inception Bohmian Mechanics has been generally regarded as a hidden-variable theory aimed at providing an objective description of quantum phenomena. To date, this rather narrow conception of Bohm’s proposal has caused it more rejection than acceptance. Now, after 65 years of Bohmian Mechanics, should still be such an interpretational aspect the prevailing appraisal? Why not favoring a more pragmatic view, as a legitimate picture of quantum Mechanics, on equal footing in all respects with any other more conventional quantum picture? These questions are used here to introduce a discussion on an alternative way to deal with Bohmian Mechanics at present, enhancing its aspect as an efficient and useful picture or formulation to tackle, explore, describe and explain quantum phenomena where phase and correlation (entanglement) are key elements. This discussion is presented through two complementary blocks. The first block is aimed at briefly revisiting the historical context that gave rise to the appearance of Bohmian Mechanics, and how this approach or analogous ones have been used in different physical contexts. This discussion is used to emphasize a more pragmatic view to the detriment of the more conventional hidden-variable (ontological) approach that has been a leitmotif within the quantum foundations. The second block focuses on some particular formal aspects of Bohmian Mechanics supporting the view presented here, with special emphasis on the physical meaning of the local phase field and the associated velocity field encoded within the wave function. As an illustration, a simple model of Young’s two-slit experiment is considered. The simplicity of this model allows to understand in an easy manner how the information conveyed by the Bohmian formulation relates to other more conventional concepts in quantum Mechanics. This sort of pedagogical application is also aimed at showing the potential interest to introduce Bohmian Mechanics in undergraduate quantum Mechanics courses as a working tool rather than

This paper first reviews the application research works of wavelet transform on the fluid Mechanics. Then the theories of continuous wavelet transform and multi-dimensional orthogonal(discrete) wavelet transform, including wavelet multiresolution analysis, are introduced. At last the applications of wavelet transform on 2 D and 3 D turbulent wakes and turbulent boundary layer flows are described based on the hot-wire, 2 D particle image velocimetry(PIV) and 3 D tomographic PIV.

Rechargeable batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries, play an important role in the emerging sustainable energy land- scape. Mechanical degradation and resulting capacity fade in high-capacity electrode materials critically hinder their use in high-performance lithium-ion batteries. This paper presents an overview of recent advances in understanding the electrochemically-induced mechanical behavior of the electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries. Particular emphasis is placed on stress generation and facture in high-capacity anode materials such as silicon. Finally, we identify several important unresolved issues for future research.

How animals sense the geomagnetic field remains a mystery today.A remarkable diversity has been revealed in animal magnetoreception and several sophisticated models have been put forward in the past few decades,but none have been commonly accepted yet.Cryptochrome(Cry)has been proposed in both the radical pair model and the MagR/Cry-based biocompass model.How exactly it participates in magnetic sensing is an ongoing discussion.Here we wish to suggest an intermolecular electron transport(ET)pathway conserved in evolution in the MagR/Cry complex.

In this paper,we propose an approach for diagnostics and prognostics of damaged aircraft structures,by combing high-performance fatigue Mechanics with filtering theories.Fast&accurate deterministic analyses of fatigue crack propagations are carried out,by using the Finite Element Alternating Method(FEAM)for computing SIFs,and by using the newly developed Moving Least Squares(MLS)law for computing fatigue crack growth rates.Such algorithms for simulating fatigue crack propagations are embedded in the computer program Safe-Flaw,which is called upon as a subroutine within the probabilistic framework of filter theories.Both the extended Kalman as well as particle filters are applied in this study,to obtain the statistically optimal and semi-optimal estimates of crack lengths,from a series of noisy measurements of crack-lengths over time.For the specific problem,a simple modification to the particle filter,which can drastically reduce the computational burden,is also proposed.Based on the results of such diagnostic analyses,the prognostics of aerospace structures are thereafter achieved,to estimate the probabilistic distribution of the remaining useful life.By using a simple example of a single-crack near a fastener hole,we demonstrate the concept and effectiveness of the proposed framework.This paper thus forms the scientific foundation for the recently proposed concepts of VRAMS(Virtual Risk-Informed Agile Maneuver Sustainment)and Digital Twins of aerospace vehicles.

Based on the evolution of fatigue cracks in welded structures,the fatigue life of welded structures was defined as the sum of the crack initiation life Ni and the crack propagation life Np.Correspondingly,a fatigue-life analysis method combining S-N curves and fracture Mechanics theory was proposed.The equivalent structural stress method and the lower 99%boundary of the master S-N curve were used to evaluate Ni,and cracks at the end of the initiation stage were considered as semi-elliptical surface cracks.Moreover,Paris equation and the stress intensity factor range of the cracks were used to evaluate Np.Furthermore,the fatigue test results obtained from the running girder of cranes were used as a reference for comparison and verification of the results.The results revealed that the equivalent structural stress is a good indicator for the crack initiation behavior of complex welded structures.In addition,the predicted fatigue life corresponded closely to the testing life.
