Alleviating mechanical degradation of hexacyanoferrate via strain locking during Na^(+) insertion/extraction for full sodium ion battery

Generation of large strains upon Na^(+) intercalation is one of the prime concerns of the mechanical degradation of Prussian blue(PB)and its *** construction from the atomic level is imperative to maintain structural stability and ameliorate the long-term stability of ***,an inter nickel hexacyanoferrate(NNiFCN)is successfully introduced at the out layer of iron hexacyanoferrate(NFFCN)through ion exchange to improve structural stability through compressive stress locking by forming NNiFCN ***,the kinetics of sodium ion diffusion is enhanced through the built-in electric *** electrochemical performance is therefore significantly improved with a remarkable long-term cycling stability over 3,000 cycles at 500 mA·g^(–1) in the full sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)with a maximum energy density of 91.94 Wh·g^(–1),indicating that the core-shell structured NNiFCN/NFFCN could be the low-cost and high-performance cathode for full SIBs in large-scale EES applications.

High-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells(HT-PEMFCs)are pursued worldwide as efficient energy conversion *** efforts have been made in the area of designing and developing phosphoric acid(PA)-based proton exchange membrane(PEM)of *** review focuses on recent advances in the limitations of acid-based PEM(acid leaching,oxidative degradation,and mechanical degradation)and the approaches mitigating the membrane *** multilayer or polymers with continuous network,adding hygroscopic inorganic materials,and introducing PA doping sites or covalent interactions with PA can effectively reduce acid *** oxidative degradation can be alleviated by synthesizing crosslinked or branched polymers,and introducing antioxidative groups or highly oxidative stable *** to get a compact structure,blending with stable polymers and inorganic materials,preparing polymer with high molecular weight,and fabricating the polymer with PA doping sites away from backbones,are recommended to improve the membrane mechanical ***,by comparing the running hours and decay rate,three current approaches,*** via thermally curing or polymeric crosslinker,*** hygroscopic inorganic materials,*** membrane layers or introducing strong basic groups and electron-withdrawing groups,have been concluded to be promising approaches to improve the durability of *** overall aim of this review is to explore the existing degradation challenges and opportunities to serve as a solid basis for the deployment in the fuel cell market.

Large-scale transportation and storage of wood pellets:Investigation of the change in physical properties

The change in physical properties of wood pellets,with a focus on particle size distributions due to pellet breakage and attrition,was studied in a large-scale(∼450 ton/h)transportation *** locations with a high probability of breakage through the whole transportation system were chosen and sampled to study the effect of transportation system design and operation on the mechanical properties of *** density,mechanical durability,moisture content,and particle size distribution of pellets were characterized for each *** of variance showed that there were significant differences between the percentages of small particles(mechanical durability values,between a minimum of 90.8%and a maximum of 98.7%,which were not correlated to the sampling points but related to pellet *** can be concluded that pellet transportation systems require more dedicated design strategies to prevent breakage and attrition.

Rheological behavior of hydrolyzed polyacrylamide solution flowing through a molecular weight adjusting device with porous medium

The separate-layer injection in different interlayers and the injection of the same-molecular-weight polymer so- lution in a layer are necessary in the polymer flooding process because of heterogeneous multilayer sandstone reservoirs in EOR projects. To alleviate the matching problems between the layer permeability and the injected polymer molecular weight, a molecular weight adjusting device with porous medium was designed on the basis of mechanical degradation principle. In terms of four variables （polymer concentration, pore diameter, length of shear component and flow rate ）, the theological behavior of hydrolyzed polyacrylamide （HPAM） solu- tion flowing through the device was investigated in detail. The change of these variables is able to control the shear rate of HPAM solutions through ceramic foam, and achieve the desired degree of shear degradation and the final theological parameters-viscosity loss, viscoelasticity and pressure drop. Therefore, a linear relationship between viscosity loss and shearing rate was established so as to obtain the targeted viscosity easily. Field tests in the Daqing Oil Field showed that the polymer molecular weight could drop 20% to 50%. In a word, the results could guide the industrial application of the novel device and the further study of polymer degradation flowing through the porous medium.

The effect of volume change and stack pressure on solid-state battery cathodes

Solid-state lithium batteries may provide increased energy density and improved safety compared with Li-ion ***,in a solid-state composite cathode,mechanical degradation due to repeated cathode volume changes during cycling may occur,whichmay be partially mitigated by applying a significant,but often impractical,uniaxial stack ***,we compare the behavior of composite electrodes based on Li4Ti5O12(LTO)(negligible volume change)and Nb2O5(+4%expansion)cycled at different stack *** initial LTO capacity and retention are not affected by pressure but for Nb2O5,they are significantly lower when a stack pressure ofmechanical stability and the stack pressures for long-term cyclability for solid-state *** suggests that low volumechange cathode materials or a proper buffer layer are required for solid-state batteries,especially at low stack pressures.
