Effects of QD2R Numeracy Enhancement Strategy on the mathematics Performance of Grade 10 Students

Learning mathematics requires an effective and strategic teaching approach.This study aimed to assess the mathematics performance of the learners with the implementation of the numeracy enhancement strategy QD2R(Questions,Drills,Repetition,and Recitation)and to propose a strategy implementation plan to elevate their performances.This study employed the use of a quasi-experimental research design,purposive sampling with 70 Grade 10 students of Lian National High School who were distributed equally to control and treatment groups.The pre-test and post-test results were statistically analyzed using independent and paired sample t-tests,and a survey questionnaire was examined by getting the mean and standard deviation.The results indicated that better performance was achieved by the students from the treatment group compared to the students from the control group,as revealed by the Mean Percentage Score(MPS)results,mean scores,and P values of their pre-test and post-test scores.The learners’perception of the implementation of this strategy was to a great extent,wherein it was perceived to be more helpful in concepts related to understanding the lesson compared to concepts related to developing their attitude and skills.Moreover,the proposed implementation plan of numeracy enhancement strategy QD2R had three expected outcomes:elevated understanding and performance in mathematics lessons;modified strategy to focus on the development of attitude and skills towards mathematics;and refined and well-implemented QD2R strategy in teaching mathematics.Relative to these expected outcomes,appropriate measures,timeframe,and resources of each were comprehensively formulated.

SINCE Namioka and Phelps, starting with Asplund’s pioneering work, introduced the no-tion of Asplund spaces (those are Banach spaces on which every continuous convex function isFrechet differentiable on a dense G_δ subset) and proved that the dual of an Asplund space hasthe Radon-Nikodym property (RNP), the study of differentiability properties of functions oninfinite dimensional spaces has continued widely and deeply (see, for instance, Phelps andGiles). The PACTUM model:Product analysis of cost and time using mathematics

Establishing a mathematical supply-chain model is a proposition that has received attention due to its inherent benefits of evolving global supply-chain efficiencies.This paper discusses the prevailing relationships found within apparel supply-chain environments,and contemplates the complex issues indicated for constituting a mathematical model.Principal results identified within the data suggest,that the multifarious nature of global supply-chain activities require a degree of simplification in order to fully dilate the necessary factors which affect,each subsection of the chain.Subsequently,the research findings allowed the division of supply-chain components into subsections,which amassed a coherent method of product development activity.Concurrently,the supply-chain model was found to allow systematic mathematical formulae analysis,of cost and time,within the multiple contexts of each subsection encountered.The paper indicates the supplychain model structure,the mathematics,and considers how product analysis of cost and time can improve the comprehension of product lifecycle management.

Cognitive Skills in Basic mathematics of College Freshmen in the Philippines

Many students consider mathematics as the most dreaded subject in their curriculum, so much so that the term “math phobia” or “math anxiety” is practically a part of clinical psychological literature. This symptom is widespread and students suffer mental disturbances when facing mathematical activity because understanding mathematics is a great task for them. This paper described the students’ cognitive skills performance in Basic mathematics based on the following logical operations: Classification, Seriation, Logical Multiplication, Compensation, Ratio and Proportional Thinking, Probability Thinking and Correlation Thinking as it serves a critical element of teaching and learning, that is determining the current position of the learners’ mathematical capacity. Its implications for mathematics education were also revealed. A descriptive quantitative design was used in this study. The study included 1011 first-year college students from six state universities in the Philippines who were enrolled in the Bachelor of Science of Secondary Education Program during the first semester of the Academic Year 2019-2020. This study made use of the teacher-made test called the Test on Logical Operations. Findings revealed that the cognitive skills achievement of the first year BSE students from different state universities in the Philippines falls under the category of late concrete operational stage. As a result, students are unable to perform the logical operational skills expected of their age. At their age level, they are expected to be under the formal operational stage based on Piaget’s stages of cognitive development. These findings revealed a weak mathematical education foundation among students which requires immediate attention. This reality should be recognized by educational planners and implementers when making curricular and other instructional decisions.
