Arc efficiency is a critical criterion for assessing the performance of the ion source. High are efficiency is necessary for a high power ion source, because it can decrease the load of the arc power supply. Thus the relationship between the discharge parameters （gas pressure, arc voltage, filament current, bias resistance connecting between the anode and plasma grid） and the arc efficiency is investigated in experiment especially. It is found that with increasing pressure, the arc efficiency increases fast if the pressure is below 0.4 Pa, but when it is above 0.4 Pa, the arc efficiency remains unchanged or increases slowly. If we increase the arc voltage or filament current, the arc efficiency decreases. The bias resistance also influences the arc efficiency, at the same pressure the arc efficiency increases with resistance.

A susceptor structure with a ring channel for a vertical metalorganic chemical vapor deposition reactor by induction heating is proposed. Thus the directions of heat conduction are changed by the channel, and the channel makes the heat in the susceptor redistribute. The pattern of heat transfer in this susceptor is also analyzed. In addition, the location and size of the channel in the susceptor are optimized using the finite element method. A comparison between the optimized and the conventional susceptor shows that the optimized susceptor not only enhances the heating efficiency but also the uniformity of temperature distribution in the wafer, which contributes to improving the quality of the film growth.

A simple yet accurate interconnect parasitical capacitance model is presented. Based on this model a novel interconnect bus optimization methodology is proposed. Combining wire spacing with wire ordering, this methodology focuses on bus dynamic power optimization with consideration of bus performance requirements. The optimization methodology is verified under a 65 nm technology node and it shows that with 50% slack in the routing space, a 33.039% power saving can be provided by the proposed optimization methodology for an intermediate video bus compared to the 27.68% power saving provided by uniform spacing technology. The proposed methodology is especially suitable for computer-aided design of nanometer scale on-chip buses.

By using a genetic algorithm, geometry parameters of large cross-sectional S-bend rib waveguides are optimized aiming at the least total loss when the propagation loss is considered. Optimized results axe presented as an example of S-bend rib waveguides based on silicon-on-insulator （SOI） 4 × 4 optical switches. The value of 2 dB/cm is given to the propagation loss according to the experimental results. The simulation results indicate that the total loss drops from 1.0002rib down to 0.4375dB without considering a lateral offset. If the offset is adopted, the total loss reduces from 0.5463dB to 0.2365dB. In addition, the effect of the rib height ratio on the loss is analysed, and the optimal ratio is obtained to be 0.55.

The interference of high-order harmonics generated by two successive gas jets within a single laser pulse is discussed by a modeling with the inclusion of macroscopic propagation of the fundamental and harmonic fields in an ionizing medium. Based on the interference, we show that one can extract the laser Rayleigh range from the interference of harmonics and the accuracy of retrieve is independent of carrier-envelope phase while dependent on the pulse duration. Moreover~ we demonstrate that it is possible to optimize the single or range of harmonics with a high ratio relative to the adjacent orders by changing the separation of two gas jets, which is unavailable by using a single gas jet and linear polarized laser pulse.

Travelers＇ route choice behavior, a dynamical learning process based on their own experience, traffic information, and influence of others, is a type of cooperation optimization and a constant day-to-day evolutionary process. Travelers adjust their route choices to choose the best route, minimizing travel time and distance, or maximizing expressway use. Because route choice behavior is based on human beings, the most intelligent animals in the world, this swarm behavior is expected to in- corporate more intelligence. Unlike existing research in route choice behavior, the influence of other travelers is considered for updating route choices on account of the reality, which makes the route choice behavior from individual to swarm. Anew swarm intelligence algorithm inspired by travelers＇ route choice behavior for solving mathematical optimization problems is introduced in this paper. A comparison of the results of experiments with those of the classical global Particle Swarm optimization （PSO） algorithm demonstrates the efficacy of the Route Choice Behavior Algorithm （RCBA）. The novel algorithm provides a new approach to solving complex problems and new avenues for the study of route choice behavior.

Existing works have addressed the interference mitigation by any two of the three approaches: link scheduling, power control, and successive interference cancellation(SIC). In this paper, we integrate the above approaches to further improve the spectral efficiency of the wireless networks and consider the max-min fairness to guarantee the transmission demand of the worst-case link. We formulate the link scheduling with joint power control and SIC(PCSIC) problem as a mixed-integer non-linear programming(MINLP), which has been proven to be NP-complete. Consequently, we propose an iterative algorithm to tackle the problem by decomposing it into a series of linear subproblems, and then the analysis shows that the algorithm has high complexity in the worst case. In order to reduce the computational complexity, we have further devised a two-stage algorithm with polynomial-time complexity. Numerical results show the performance improvements of our proposed algorithms in terms of the network throughput and power consumption compared with the link scheduling scheme only with SIC.
