A Global Weizsacker mass model with relativistic mean field shell correction

A relativistic Weizsacker mass model is proposed based on the single-particle levels and ground state deformations obtained in axial deformed relativistic mean field theory.The density functional of relativistic mean field theory is chosen as DD-LZ1,which can partially remove spurious shell closures.Compared with the fourth Weizsacker-Skyrme mass model,the proposed model provides shell correction energies that exhibit wide spreading,and the root-mean-square mass deviation is 1.353 MeV.Further improvement is in progress.

Index allocation for a reusable LOX/CH4 rocket engine

Reusable rocket engines are the core components of reusable launch vehicles, and have thus become a major focus of aerospace engineering research in recent years. In practice, subsystem design is based on the overall index allocation of an engine;therefore, a multidisciplinary optimization approach is necessary. In this study, design of a reusable methane/liquid oxygen(LOX/CH4)rocket engine with a gas generator cycle was investigated using multidisciplinary optimization. Two parameters were chosen as design variables: pressure and fuel mix ratio of the main combustion chamber. Optimization objectives were specific impulse, structural mass, and life cycle cost of the reusable rocket engine, and constraints were assigned to each discipline according to rocket design requirements. Then, an optimization model was developed, and optimal design parameters were acquired for the LOX/CH4 rocket engine. The proposed method is effective for designing the index allocation of reusable rocket engines and takes into account the multidisciplinary nature of complex systems.

Ability of the radial basis function approach to extrapolate nuclear mass

The ability of the radial basis function(RBF)approach to extrapolate the masses of nuclei in neutron-rich and superheavy regions is investigated in combination with the Duflo-Zuker(DZ31),Hartree–Fock-Bogoliubov(HFB27),finite-range droplet model(FRDM12)and Weizsäcker-Skyrme(WS4)mass models.It is found that when the RBF approach is employed with a simple linear basis function,different mass models have different performances in extrapolating nuclear masses in the same region,and a single mass model may have different performances when it is used to extrapolate nuclear masses in different regions.The WS4 and FRDM12 models(two macroscopic–microscopic mass models),combined with the RBF approach,may perform better when extrapolating the nuclear mass in the neutron-rich and superheavy regions.
