＜正＞ Augmented marked graphs have a number of known properties pertaining to their liveness and reversibility. In this paper, we show the application of augmented marked graphs to manufacturing system design. By modelling a manufacturing system using an augmented marked graph, the system liveness and reversibility can be effectively analysed based on the properties of augmented marked graphs.

Deadlock avoidance problems are investigated for automated manufacturing systems with flexible routings. Based on the Petri net models of the systems, this paper proposes, for the first time, the concept of perfect maximal resourcetransition circuits and their saturated states. The concept facilitates the development of system liveness characterization and deadlock avoidance Petri net supervisors. Deadlock is characterized as some perfect maximal resource-transition circuits reaching their saturated states. For a large class of manufacturing systems, which do not contain center resources, the optimal deadlock avoidance Petri net supervisors are presented. For a general manufacturing system, a method is proposed for reducing the system Petri net model so that the reduced model does not contain center resources and, hence, has optimal deadlock avoidance Petri net supervisor. The controlled reduced Petri net model can then be used as the liveness supervisor of the system.

Design of a robust production facility layout with minimum handling cost （MHC） presents an appropriate approach to tackle facility layout problems in a dynamic volatile environment, in which product demands randomly change in each planning period. The objective of the design is to find the robust facility layout with minimum total material handling cost over the entire multiperiod planning horizon. This paper proposes a new mathematical model for designing robust machine layout in the stochastic dynamic environment of manufacturing systems using quadratic assignment problem （QAP） formulation. In this investigation, product demands are assumed to be normally distributed random variables with known expected value, variance, and covariance that randomly change from period to period. The proposed model was verified and validated using randomly generated numerical data and benchmark examples. The effect of dependent product demands and varying interest rate on the total cost function of the proposed model has also been investigated. Sensitivity analysis on the proposed model has been performed. Dynamic programming and simulated annealing optimization algorithms were used in solving the modeled example problems.

The integrated layout problem in manufacturing systems is investigated. Anintegrated model for Concurrent layout design of cells and flow paths is formulated. A hybridapproach combined an enhanced branch-and-bound algorithm with a simulated annealing scheme isproposed to solve this problem. The integrated layout method is applied to re-layout the gear pumpshop of a medium-size manufacturer of hydraulic pieces. Results show that the proposed layout methodcan concurrently provide good solutions of the cell layouts and the flow path layouts.

3D printing technology, as one of the most subversive technologies in the 21st century, processes the entity through layer by layer superposition. It breaks through the design constraints and adapts to customized production with high flexibility, which is an important direction of industrial development in the future. 3C product has a very board application market and groups, so it has been widely valued over the world. The advantages of 3D printing technology are very suitable for the characteristics of 3C product, such as diversification, small-volume, personalized. Here, the impact of 3D printing technology on manufacturing industry is firstly discussed;3C product manufacturing system integrated with 3D printing is finally put proposed. The advantages of the proposed system possess shorter manufacturing cycle, supply chain and logistics. It makes easier to realize personalized 3C product, localized manufacturing and reduce cost. The development and wide application of 3D printing technology in 3C product industry will make the manufacture of low-cost small batch or even individual customized products into a general mode towards the trend of “light luxury + light customization”.

This paper presents a further improved Production Activity Control Architecture to deal with the complexity of information by creating Sub-Producers and Sub-Movers which will not only give a better control at workstation level but also reduce load on the Dispatcher. It also makes an analysis of the basic and improved PAC (Production Activity Control) Architecture in the Control system for Integrated manufacturing. The PAC Architecture and the improvement will further enhance the flexibility and adaptability of the architecture in the ever changing environment of the Shop Floor Control (SFC) systems.
