ANALYSIS ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF TROPICAL CYCLONES MAKING LANDFALL ON DIFFERENT REGIONS OF CHINESE mainland

The locations(longitudes and latitudes)of the tropical cyclones(TCs)making landfall on the Chinese mainland from 1949 to 2008 are investigated in detail by using ArcGis and FORTRAN *** southeast coastline[110 to 122°E)with most landfall TCs was selected as the key region,which was divided into 12 subsections with 1°intervals of *** study period was from July to September in each *** result showed that the average sustaining time of TCs making landfall on the subsections east of 118°E is longer than those west of 118°*** landfall,the averaged TC intensity in the subsections east of118°E is stronger than that west of *** landfall,however,the difference between the west and east is not *** index of destructive potential for the period before/after landfall was defined as TDP1/*** maximum of TDP1/TDP2 occurred in the subsection of[119,120°E)/[110,111°E).The ENSO impact on the frequency and average location of landfall TC over the whole region at 110 to 122°E is not obvious,but the effect varies with specific *** is little differences of averaged TDP1 in the subsections between different phases of ENSO events,but the averaged TDP2 is larger in the warm events than that in the cold *** rainstorm days of each station caused by TCs in different subsections were counted *** results suggested that the rainstorm days of the subsections east of 118°E are much more than those west of 118°*** larger values are primarily distributed at the subsections of[119,120°E)and[110,111°E).

Monitor lizards(Varanidae)inhabit both the mainland and islands of all geological types and have diversified into an exceptionally wide range of body sizes,thus providing an ideal model for examining the role of mainland versus island in driving species *** we use phylogenetic comparative methods to examine whether a link exists between body size driven diversification and body size-frequency distributions in varanid lizards and to test the hypothesis that island lizards differ from mainland species in evolutionary processes,body size,and life-history traits(offspring number and size).We predict that:1)since body size drives rapid diversification in groups,a link exists between body size-driven diversification and body size-frequency distributions;2)because of various environments on island,island species will have higher speciation,extinction,and dispersal rates,compared with mainland species;3)as a response to stronger intraspecific competition,island species will maximize individual ability associated with body size to outcompete closely-related species,and island species will produce smaller clutches of larger eggs to increase offspring *** results confirm that the joint effect of differential macroevolutionary rates shapes the species richness pattern of varanid *** is a link between body size-driven diversification and body sizefrequency distributions,and the speciation rate is maximized at medium body *** species will have higher speciation,equal extinction,and higher dispersal rates compared with mainland *** clutch size and larger hatchling in the island than in mainland species indicate that offspring quality is more valuable than offspring quantity for island varanids.

By means of survey of literature through compilations of sedimentological, biogeological and geomorphologic data, the inland lake level changes in arid or semi arid mainland Asia at 6 and 18 ka B.P. have been reconstructed. The results showed that the lakes from western and northwestern Asia were characterized by very high water levels at 18 ka B.P., but low or intermediate water stands at 6 ka B.P. The high lake level in this region was associated with the southward displacement of westerlies, therefore, the extent of the high lake stand indicated the southern flank of westerlies during the glaciation. Conversely, the lakes from the eastern and southern Asia registered comparative low levels at 18 ka B.P. and significantly high one at 6 ka B.P. The lowering of lake level at 18 ka B.P. was caused by the weakened summer monsoon and the high lake level at 6 ka B.P. by the enhanced summer monsoon induced by the enlarged thermal contrast between land and ocean. The extent of high lake levels indicated the northern boundary of monsoon expansion. Between the above two regions, there is a climatic transitional zone in the Central Asia where the lake behavior was close to that in southeastern Asia at 6 ka B.P. but became similar to that in northwestern Asia at 18 ka B.P. Thus this zone became a transitional sector from the monsoon to the westerlies.

Based on the long-term monitoring data on CO2 concentration, variation trend and characteristics of CO2 background concentration in the atmosphere over the Chinese mainland are analyzed. Results show that the increasing trend of CO2 background concentration in the atmosphere over the Chinese mainland has appeared during the period of 1991-2000. The average annual CO2 growth increment is 1.59μL/L, and the average annual CO2 growth rate is 0.44%. Distinct seasonal variations of CO2 background concentration are observed, and the averaged amplitude of CO2 seasonal variations is 10.35μL/L. Regional variation characteristics of CO2 background concentration in the atmosphere and possible impact of human activities on these variations over the Chinese mainland are discussed as well.

For the two main recurrence behaviors of segment-rupturing earthquakes on active faults of the Chinese mainland,this paper establishes corresponding empirical distributions forearthquake recurrence interval. The results show that, for the time-predictable recurrence, the normalized recurrence interval, T/Tt, obeys very well the lognormal distributions: LN (μ1=0.00, σ21 =0. 152), where, T is an observed recurrence interval, and Tt is the average recurrence interval that is correlative with the size of the preceding event. For the quasi-periodic recurrence, the normalized recurrence interval, T/T, follows the lognormal distribution : LN(μq=0.00, σ2q=0.242), where, T is the median of recurrence intervals for various cycles. A statistical test suggests that, there is no significant difference between the latter distribution, built by this paper, and the recurrence interval distribution for the characteristic earthquakes of the Circum-Pacific Plate boundaries (NB model). Accordingly, this paper combines these two distributions into one and obtains a more stable lognormal distribution :LN (μ = 0.00, σ2 = 0.222), for the quasi-periodic recurrence interval.

To investigate the recurrence behaviors of segment-rupturing eathquakes on active faults of the Chinese mainland, thispaper analyzes quantitatively earthquake history of 19 fault segments based on earthquake dam of multi-cyclerecurrences. The result shows that, for these fault segments, eanhquake recurring at previous locations is mainlycharacterized by both quasi-periodic (in a ratio of about) and time-predictable (in a ratio of about) *** the first behavior. intrinsic uncertainty of recurrence interval accounts for 0. 15-0.40 of the average interval, andmagnitudes of event vary from cycle to cycle within the range of the mean magnitUde t0.5. For the second behavior,intrinsic uncertainty of recurrence interval ranges mostly from 0. 19 to 0.40 of the average interval, and for successivetwo cycles the maximum change of event magnitudes is as much as 1.7 magnitude-units. In addition, for a few casesthe first behavior coexists along with either the second or the slip-predictable behaviors.

Based on the theory of planned behavior,this study considers entrepreneurial traits and divides the entrepreneurial environment into policy environment,economic environment,and educational and cultural *** SPSS 23.0 and Amos 24.0 softwares,a structural equation model of entrepreneurial intentions for university students originating from Hong Kong and Macao is constructed.A questionnaire survey method is used to collect data from 689 Hong Kong and Macao students in Chinese mainland universities to explore the factors influencing their entrepreneurial intentions and the ranges of their entrepreneurial intentions based on demographic *** results show that entrepreneurial attitude,subjective norms,perceived behavioral control,entrepreneurial traits,and entrepreneurial environment have a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurial intentions of Hong Kong and Macao students in the mainland *** students have a higher level of entrepreneurial intentions than female *** Kong students are more likely to have entrepreneurial intentions than Macao students,and students in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(briefly,Greater Bay Area)universities are more likely to have such intentions than those from non-Greater Bay Area *** majoring in science,engineering and medicine show a lower likelihood of intension than those majoring in humanities and social *** comprehensively improve the entrepreneurial intentions of Hong Kong and Macao students and enable them to better shoulder their responsibilities in sharing the development dividends of the Greater Bay Area,it is necessary to start from the entrepreneurial environment and from the perspective of cultivating innovative talents.A support framework that integrates a training system,an ecological system,and a resource system is proposed to support students from Hong Kong and Macao in entrepreneurial development in the mainland.
