This article deals with investigating the effect of cut-outs on the natural frequencies of magneto-electroelastic(MEE)plates incorporating finite element methods based on higher order shear deformation theory(HSDT).In order to consider the influence of cut-out,the energy of the cut-out domain is subtracted from the total energy of the entire plate.The governing equations of motions are derived through incorporating Hamilton’s principle and the solution is obtained using condensation technique.The proposed numerical formulation is verified with the results of previously published literature as well as the numerical software.In addition,this research focuses on evaluating the effect of geometrical skewness and boundary conditions on the frequency response.The influence of cut-outs on the degree of coupling between magnetic,electric and elastic fields is also investigated.

A Coupling Magneto-Electro-Elastic(MEE)Node-based Smoothed Radial Point Interpolation Method(CM-NS-RPIM)was proposed to solve the free vibration and transient responses of Functionally Graded Magneto-Electro-Elastic(FGMEE)structures.By introducing the modified Newmark method,the displacement,electrical potential and magnetic potential of the structures under transient mechanical loading were obtained.Based on G space theory and the weakened weak(W2)formulation,the equations of the multi-physics coupling problems were derived.Using triangular background elements,the free vibration and transient responses of three numerical examples were studied.Results proved that CM-NS-RPIM performed better than the standard FEM by reducing the overly-stiff of structures.Moreover,CM-NS-RPIM could reduce the number of nodes while guaranteeing the accuracy.Besides,triangular elements could be generated automatically even for complex geometries.Therefore,the effectiveness and validity of CM-NS-RPIM were demonstrated,which were valuable for the design of intelligence devices,such as energy harvesters and sensors.

This article deals with evaluating the frequency response of functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced Magneto-Electro-Elastic(FG-CNTMEE)plates subjected to open and closed electro-magnetic circuit conditions.In this regard finite element formulation has been derived.The plate kinematics adjudged via higher order shear deformation theory(HSDT)is considered for evaluation.The equations of motion are obtained with the help of Hamilton’s principle and solved using condensation technique.It is found that the convergence and accuracy of the present FE formulation is very good to address the vibration problem of FG-CNTMEE plate.For the first time,frequency response analysis of FG-CNTMEE plates considering the effect of various circuit conditions associated with parameters such as CNT distributions,volume fraction,skew angle,aspect ratio,length-to-thickness ratio and coupling fields has been carried out.The results of this article can serve as benchmark for future development and analysis of smart structures.

The wave propagation in a Magneto-Electro-Elastic plate was studied. Some new characteristics were discovered: the guided waves are classified in the forms of the Quasi-P, Quasi-SV and Quasi-SH waves and arranged by the standing wavenumber; there are many patterns for the physical property of the Magneto-Electro-Elastic dielectric medium influencing the stress wave propagation. We proposed a self-adjoint method, by which the guided-wave restriction condition was derived. After the corresponding orthogonal sets were found, the analytic dispersion equa-tion was obtained. In the end, an example was presented. The dispersive spectrum, the group velocity curved face and the steady-state response curve of a mag-neto-electro-elastic plate were plotted. Then the wave propagations affected by the induced electric and magnetic fields were analyzed.

An analytical approach was taken to investigate Love wave propagation in a layered Magneto-Electro-Elastic structure, where a piezomagnetic (or piezoelectric) mate-rial thin layer was bonded to a semi-infinite piezoelectric (or piezomagnetic) sub-strate. Both piezoelectric and piezomagnetic ceramics were polarized in the anti-plane (z-axis) direction. The analytical solution of dispersion relations was obtained for magneto-electrically open and short boundary conditions. The phase velocity, group velocity, magneto-electromechanical coupling factor, electric po-tential, and magnetic potential were calculated and discussed in detail. The nu-merical results show that the piezomagnetic effects have remarkable effect on the propagation of Love waves in the layered piezomagnetic/piezoelectric structures.

To obtain the fundamental solutions for computation of Magneto-Electro-Elastic media by the boundary element method, the general solutions in the case of distinct eigenvalues are de-rived and expressed in five harmonic functions from the governing equations and the strict differ-ential operator theorem. On the basis of these general solutions, the fundamental solution of infi-nite Magneto-Electro-Elastic solid are obtained with the method of trial-and-error. Finally, the boundary integral formulation is derived and the corresponding boundary element method program is implemented to perform two numerical calculations(a column under uni-axial tension, uniform electric displacement or uniform magnetic induction, an annular plate simply-supported on outer and inner surfaces under axial loads). The numerical results agree well with the analytical ones.
