This work presents an optical method using the mach–zehnder interferometer. We especially diagnose a pure nitrogen gas subjected to a point to plane corona discharge, and visualize the density spatial map. The interelectrode distance equals6 mm and the variation of the optical path has been measured at different pressures： 220 Torr, 400 Torr, and 760 *** interferograms are recorded with a CCD camera, and the numerical analysis of these interferograms is assured by the inverse Abel transformation. The nitrogen density is extracted through the Gladstone–Dale relation. The obtained results are in close agreement with values available in the literature.

We give an analytical result for the quantum Fisher information of entangled coherent states in a lossy mach–zehnder interferometer recently proposed by Joo et al.,[***.107(2011)083601].For small loss of photons,we find that the entangled coherent state can surpass the Heisenberg ***,the formalism developed here is applicable to the study of phase sensitivity of multipartite entangled coherent states.

Wavelength-tunable dissipative solitons and amplifier similaritons have been obtained by inserting all-fiber mach-zehnder interferometer(MZI) filters with different free spectral ranges(FSRs) in a Yb-doped mode-locked fiber *** MZI filter is fabricated by splicing one segment of seven-core fiber(SCF) between two segments of single-mode *** bandwidth of the filter depends on the FSR of the modulated interference curve and consequently depends on the tapered fiber *** MZI filters with bandwidths in a fiber laser and applying a tensile strain on the tapered SCF,both wavelengthtunable dissipative solitons and amplifier similaritons have been obtained.

We focus on the mach–zehnder interferometer(MZI) with the input of a coherent beam and one of the bright entangled twin beams with an external power reference beam employed for measurement. The results show that the phase sensitivity can reach sub-Heisenberg limit and approach quantum Cramer–Rao bound by changing the squeezing parameters and the photon number of the coherent beam, under the phase-matching condition. The absence of the external power reference beam will degrade the performance of the phase sensitivity. Meanwhile, this scheme shows good robustness against the losses of the photon detectors. We present a detailed discussion about the phase sensitivities when the inputs are two coherent beams, or a coherent beam plus a single-mode squeezed vacuum beam based on the MZI. This scenario can be applied in the field of phase precision measurements and other optical sensors.

We propose a high-sensitivity bidirectional torsion sensor using a helical seven-core fiber taper embedded in multimode fiber(MHSTM).Sensors with different taper waists and helical pitches are fabricated,and their transmission spectra are obtained and *** waist and length of the sandwiched seven-core fiber are finally determined to be 68 μm and3 mm,*** experimental results show that the clockwise and counterclockwise torsion sensitivities of the proposed sensor are 2.253 nm/(rad/m) and-1.123 nm/(rad/m),*** tapered waist diameter reduces to48 μm,a superior torsion sensitivity of 5.391 nm/(rad/m) in the range of 0-4.24 nm/(rad/m) is obtained,which is 46 times as large as the traditional helical seven-core fiber *** addition,the MHSTM structure is also relatively stable to temperature variations.
