Autism spectrum disorder(ASD) is a spectral neurodevelopment disorder affecting approximately 1% of the population. ASD is characterized by impairments in reciprocal social interaction, communication deficits and restricted patterns of behavior. Multiple factors, including genetic/genomic, epigenetic/epigenomic and environmental, are thought to be necessary for autism development. Recent reviews have provided further insight into the genetic/genomic basis of ASD. It has long been suspected that epigenetic mechanisms, including DNA methylation, chromatin structures and long non-coding rnas may play important roles in the pathology of ASD. In addition to genetic/genomic alterations and epigenetic/epigenomic influences, environmental exposures have been widely accepted as an important role in autism etiology, among which immune dysregulation and gastrointestinal microbiota are two prominent ones.

Quantification of non-coding RNA target localization diversity and its application in cancers

SubceUular localization is pivotal for rnas and proteins to implement biological functions. The localization diversity of protein interactions has been studied as a crucial feature of proteins, considering that the protein-protein interactions take place in vari- ous subceltutar locations. Nevertheless, the localization diversity of non-coding RNA （ncRNA） target proteins has not been sys- tematically studied, especially its characteristics in cancers. In this study, we provide a new algorithm, non-coding RNA target localization coefficient （ncTALENT）, to quantify the target localization diversity of ncrnas based on the ncRNA-protein interaction and protein subcellular localization data. ncTALENT can be used to calculate the target localization coefficient of ncrnas and measure how diversely their targets are distributed among the subcellular locations in various scenarios. We focus our study on long non-coding rnas （Incrnas）, and our observations reveal that the target localization diversity is a primary characteristic of Incrnas in different biotypes. Moreover, we found that Incrnas in multiple cancers, differentially expressed cancer Incrnas, and Incrnas with multiple cancer target proteins are prone to have high target localization diversity. Furthermore, the analysis of gastric cancer helps us to obtain a better understanding that the target localization diversity of Incrnas is an important feature closely related to clinical prognosis. Overall, we systematically studied the target localization diversity of the Incrnas and uncovered its association with cancer.

Cells can adapt to environment and development by reconstructing their transcriptional networks to regulate diverse cellular processes without altering the underly- ing DNA sequences. These alterations, namely epige- netic changes, occur during cell division, differentiation and cell death. Numerous evidences demonstrate that epigenetic changes are governed by various types of determinants, including DNA methylation patterns, his- tone posttranslational modification signatures, histone variants, chromatin remodeling, and recently discovered chromosome conformation characteristics and non- coding rnas （ncrnas）. Here, we highlight recent efforts on how the two latter epigenetic factors participate in the sophisticated transcriptional process and describe emerging techniques which permit us to uncover and gain insights into the fascinating genomic regulation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)remains one of the most frequent types of liver cancer and is characterized by a high recurrence *** studies have proposed that long non-coding rnas(lncrnas)are potential biomarkers in several recurrent tumor *** is now well understood that invasion,migration,and metastasis are important factors for tumor ***,some of the known risk factors for HCC may affect the expression levels of several types of lncrnas and thus affect the recurrence of liver cancer through lncRNA *** this paper,we review the biological functions,molecular mechanisms,and roles of lncrnas in HCC and summarize current knowledge about lncrnas as potential biomarkers in recurrent HCC.

Role of non-coding rnas in pancreatic cancer: The bane of the microworld

Our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the development of pancreatic cancer has been greatly advanced. However, the molecular events involved in the initiation and development of pancreatic cancer remain inscrutable. none of the present medical technologies have been proven to be effective in significantly improving early detection or reducing the mortality/morbidity of this disease. Thus, a better understanding of the molecular basis of pancreatic cancer is required for the identification of more effective diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets. non-coding rnas (ncrnas), generally including micrornas and long non-coding rnas, have recently been found to be deregulated in many human cancers, which provides new opportunities for identifying both functional drivers and specific biomarkers of pancreatic cancer. In this article, we review the existing literature in the field documenting the significance of aberrantly expressed and functional ncrnas in human pancreatic cancer, and discuss how oncogenic ncrnas may be involved in the genetic and epigenetic networks regulating functional pathways that are deregulated in this malignancy, particularly of the ncrnas’ role in drug resistance and epithelial-mesenchymal transition biological phenotype, with the aim of analyzing the feasibility of clinical application of ncrnas in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC),the eighth most prevalent cancer in the world,arises from the interaction of multiple factors including tobacco,alcohol consumption,and betel *** agents such as cisplatin,5-fluorouracil,and paclitaxel have now become the first-line options for OSCC ***,most OSCC patients eventually acquire drug resistance,leading to poor *** the discovery and identification of non-coding rnas(ncrnas),the functions of dysregulated ncrnas in OSCC development and drug resistance are gradually being widely *** mechanisms of drug resistance of OSCC are intricate and involve drug efflux,epithelial-mesenchymal transition,DNA damage repair,and *** present,strategies to explore the reversal of drug resistance of OSCC need to be urgently ***-delivery and self-cellular drug delivery platforms are considered as effective strategies to overcome drug resistance due to their tumor targeting,controlled release,and consistent pharmacokinetic *** particular,the combined application of new technologies(including CRISPR systems)opened up new horizons for the treatment of drug resistance of ***,this review explored emerging regulatory functions of ncrnas in drug resistance of OSCC,elucidated multiple ncRNA-meditated mechanisms of drug resistance of OSCC,and discussed the potential value of drug delivery platforms using nanoparticles and self-cells as carriers in drug resistance of OSCC.
