This article explores crossover literature, that is, literature transcending age boundaries and, in particular, the boundaries between adult and child readership. This article suggests that texts transcending age boundaries are not a recent phenomenon—adults have almost always existed in children’s literature as a background authority or a hidden and even active addressee. But it is the changes in a social, historical, and cultural context that call for a new term, crossover, to designate this phenomenon. Central to the discussion of crossover literature is how to conceptualise the different readings that a text can elicit from child and adult readers. Drawing on developments in cognitive literary studies, this article argues that crossover literature is characterised by its potential to accommodate both child and adult readers’ different levels of cognitive-affective development, subject to the factor of age. The argument is exemplified with a close analysis of Anthony Browne’s picturebook The Big Baby(1995). It is particularly productive and illuminating to discuss how crossover picturebooks can attract both children and adults, contrary to the traditional assumption that picturebooks are merely 'kids’ stuff.' The close analysis of The Big Baby reveals that cognitive literary studies can tease out the implications of the age difference, which are crucial to crossover research, and shed new light on how crossover literature may attract readers of different ages.

Introduction Vulvar melanoma is the second most common vulvar malignancy and a significant health issue in women.Despite its low incidence,vulvar melanoma has a poor prognosis with a high tendency to metastasize due to delayed diagnosis.Most women are postmenopausal and aged 50 to 70 years at the time of diagnosis[1].The occurrence of vulvar malignant melanoma (MM) at <30 years of age is extremely rare.We herein describe a case of primary vulvar MM in a 27-year-old woman during her first pregnancy.

MOOC learners are generally divided into two categories according to whether they finish the courseor drop out. This binary classification is an oversimplified portrait of MOOC learners. For example, peoplemay be only interested in certain parts of a MOOC, hence ignoring ＇irrelevant＇ activities, or they may beactively engaged in a MOOC but with no desire to obtain a course certificate, hence skipping assess-ment assignments. These learners are often classified into the ＇drop-out＇ category, which, nevertheless,fails to explain why they ＇drop out＇ and to effectively capture the heterogeneity of MOOCacteristics.

BACKGROUND Enteropathy associated T-cell lymphoma(EATL) is a rare form of peripheral Tcell lymphoma and makes up less than 5% of gastrointestinal lymphomas. EATL can be divided into type 1 which is associated with celiac disease, and monomorphic epitheliotropic intestinal T-cell lymphoma(MEITL), formally type 2, which is not associated with celiac disease.CASE SUMMARY We present a 60-year-old African American female, without celiac disease, who presented with abdominal pain, diarrhea, and 30 lb. weight loss over a 3 month period. She was subsequently diagnosed with EATL throughout her entire gastrointestinal tract. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy with EOCH(Etoposide, Oncovin, Cyclophosphamide, and Hydroxydaunorubicin). EATL is most common in the Asian and Hispanic population yet the incidence in African Americans is uncertain and emphasizes the rarity of this case. A literature review was included to further emphasize similarities and differences between our case and previously reported cases of MEITL.CONCLUSION The patient was diagnosed with EATL, immunochemical testing was not conclusive for MEITL however was suggestive of the disease.

Dissolution mechanism of calcium apatites in acids:A review of literature

Eight dissolution models of calcium apatites(both fluorapatite and hydroxyapatite) in acids were drawn from the published literature,analyzed and discussed.Major limitations and drawbacks of the models were conversed in details.The models were shown to deal with different aspects of apatite dissolution phenomenon and none of them was able to describe the dissolution process in general.Therefore,an attempt to combine the findings obtained by different researchers was performed which resulted in creation of the general description of apatite dissolution in acids.For this purpose,eight dissolution models were assumed to complement each other and provide the correct description of the specific aspects of apatite dissolution.The general description considers all possible dissolution stages involved and points out to some missing and unclear phenomena to be experimentally studied and verified in future.This creates a new methodological approach to investigate reaction mechanisms based on sets of affine data,obtained by various research groups under dissimilar experimental conditions.
