Single-slit diffraction of the arbitrary vector beams

We present the single-slit diffraction of the arbitrary vector fields with different parameters m, n, and φ0 theoretically and experimentally. The single slit covers the polarization singularity in the center and therefore the influence of the polarization singularity on the diffraction fringes is analyzed. The experimental results which agree well with the simulation results show that the total intensity of the diffraction field is related only to the topological charge rn, but the polarization distribution of the diffraction field is related to all the parameters m, n, and φ0. Therefore, the diffraction patterns allow to determine all the parameters of the arbitrarv vector fields.

Dynamic shaping of vectorial optical fields based on two-dimensional blazed holographic grating

We propose a vectorial optical field generation system based on two-dimensional blazed grating to high-efficiently generate structured optical fields with prescribed amplitude,phase,and polarization.In this system,an optimized blazed grating hologram is written on a spatial light modulator(SLM)and can diffract the majority of the incident light into the first-order diffractions of the x and y directions,which then serve as base vectors for synthesizing desired vector beams.Compared with the conventional cosine grating used in the previous work,the proposed two-dimensional,blazed grating has a much higher efficiency.Both computer simulation and optical experiment validate that a conversion efficiency up to 5 times that of the former work is achieved.Our method can facilitate applications of the optical field manipulation.

Volume Bragg grating with diffraction efficiency of 92% was fabricated holographically in（trimethylolpropane triacrylate） TMPTA acrylic monomer- liquid crystal composite material,where about 17% improvement in the diffraction efficiency was attributed to post curing effect.By means of appropriate dosage control for the curing laser,there was only 1% second order diffraction in total loss,which was less than 3%,showing that the modulation on the refractive index profile of the film was almost perfectly sinusoidal.
