Research on link quality estimation Mechanism for Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Support Vector Machine

In the application of Wireless sensor networks(WSNs),effective estimation for link quality is a basic issue in guarantying reliable data transmission and upper network protocol performance.A link quality estimation mechanism is proposed,which is based on Support vector machine(SVM) with multi-class *** the analysis of the wireless link characteristics,two physical parameters of communication,Receive signal strength indicator(RSSI) and link quality indicator(LQI),are chosen as estimation *** link quality is divided into five levels according to Packet reception rate(PRR).A link quality estimation model based on SVM with decision tree is *** model is built on kernel functions of radial basis and polynomial respectively,in which RSSI,LQI are the input *** experimental results show that the model is *** with the recent published link quality estimation models,our model can estimate the current link quality accurately with a relative small number of probe packets,so that it costs less energy consumption than the one caused by sending a large number of probe *** this model which is high efficiency and energy saving can prolong the network life.

CCI-based link quality estimation mechanism for wireless sensor networks under non-perceived packet loss

This paper proposes a chip correlation indicator （CCI）-based link quality estimation mechanism for wireless sensor networks under non-perceived packet loss. On the basis of analyzing all related factors, it can be concluded that signal-to-noise rate （SNR） is the main factor causing the non-perceived packet loss. In this paper, the relationship model between CCI and non-perceived packet loss rate （NPLR） is established from related models such as SNR versus packet success rate （PSR）, CCI versus SNR and CCI-NPLR. Due to the large fluctuating range of the raw CCI, Kalman filter is introduced to do de-noising of the raw CCI. The cubic model and the least squares method are employed to fit the relationship between CCI and SNR. In the experiments, many groups of comparison have been conducted and the results show that the proposed mechanism can achieve more accurate measurement of the non-perceived packet loss than existing approaches. Moreover, it has the advantage of decreasing extra energy consumption caused by sending large number of probe packets.

The reliability of data transmission in wireless sensor networks is influenced by harsh industrial environments, complex interference effects. An improved TDMA MAC protocol based on link quality estimation is proposed in the paper. The protocol is implemented on the CC2530 hardware platform integrated of the IEEE802.15.4 standard protocol. The industrial monitoring network system is tested in the industrial field. The result shows that the protocol in packet transmission rate has greatly improved, and data transmission reliability is improved. The protocol can be able to adapt to industrial environment applications.
