This paper investigates the stability problem of linear time-varying systems with sampled-data observer. The sampleddata observer is constructed on the basis of output prediction. A sufficient condition based on sampling interval is established such that the state of observer converge to system’s state. Moreover, based on theory of Yang inequality and Lyapunov method,a piecewise continuous control protocol is provided to solve the stability problem of the systems. Finally, a simulation example is provided to illustrate our established result.

Explicit Symplectic Geometric Algorithms for Quaternion Kinematical Differential Equation

Solving quaternion kinematical differential equations(QKDE) is one of the most significant problems in the automation, navigation, aerospace and aeronautics literatures. Most existing approaches for this problem neither preserve the norm of quaternions nor avoid errors accumulated in the sense of long term time. We present explicit symplectic geometric algorithms to deal with the quaternion kinematical differential equation by modelling its time-invariant and time-varying versions with Hamiltonian systems and adopting a three-step strategy. Firstly,a generalized Euler's formula and Cayley-Euler formula are proved and used to construct symplectic single-step transition operators via the centered implicit Euler scheme for autonomous Hamiltonian system. Secondly, the symplecticity, orthogonality and invertibility of the symplectic transition operators are proved rigorously. Finally, the explicit symplectic geometric algorithm for the time-varying quaternion kinematical differential equation, i.e., a non-autonomous and non-linear Hamiltonian system essentially, is designed with the theorems proved. Our novel algorithms have simple structures, linear time complexity and constant space complexity of computation. The correctness and efficiencies of the proposed algorithms are verified and validated via numerical simulations.

Indirect Radau pseudospectral method for the receding horizon control problem

To solve the receding horizon control （RHC） problem in an online manner, a novel numerical method called the indirect Radau pseudospectral method （IRPM） is proposed in this paper. Based on calculus of variations and the first-order necessary optimality condition, the RHC problem for linear time-varying （LTV） system is transformed into the two-point boundary value problem （TPBVP）. The Radau pseudospectral approximation is employed to discretize the TPBVP into well-posed linear algebraic equations. The resulting linear algebraic equations are solved via a matrix partitioning approach afterwards to obtain the optimal feedback control law. For the nonlinear system, the linearization method or the quasi linearization method is employed to approximate the RHC problem with successive linear approximations. Subsequently, each linear problem is solved via the similar method which is used to solve the RHC problem for LTV system. Simulation results of three examples show that the IRPM is of high accuracy and of high compu- tation efficiency to solve the RHC problem and the stability of closed-loop systems is guaranteed.

The paper deals with the uniform finite-time stability（UFTS） of continuous linear time-varying（LTV） ***,a necessary and sufficient condition for the UFTS of continuous LTV systems is devised with the idea of computing the envelope of all the trajectories of the considered ***,a corollary is obtained under the perspective of numerical ***,based on the obtained corollary,a novel numerical algorithm is designed by utilizing the Lipschitz continuity of certain *** the proposed algorithm,only limited numerical computation is needed when analyzing the UFTS of continuous LTV *** with the existing Lyapunov-like function method,one needn’t constructing Lyapunov-like ***,the obtained corollary just requires being checked at a limited number of time ***,two numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed results.

A new method of parameter identification based on linear time-frequencyrepresentation and Hubert transform is proposed to identity modal parameters of linear time-varyingsystems from measured vibration responses. Using Gabor expansion and synthesis theory, measuredresponses are represented in the time-frequency domain and modal components are reconstructed bytime-frequency filtering. The Hilbert transform is applied to obtain time histories of the amplitudeand phase angle of each modal component, from which time-varying frequencies and damping ratios areidentified. The proposed method has been demonstrated with a numerical example in which a lineartime-varying system of two degrees of freedom is used to validate the identification scheme based ontime-frequency representation. Simulation results have indicated that time-frequency representationpresents an effective tool for modal parameter identification of time-varying systems.
