Based on the calculation formulas of heat treatment temperature field for an arbitrary incident laser intensity distribution, the transformation intensity distribution of CO2 laser beam passing an integrating mirror is studied theoretically and experimentally. The derived formulas are applied in laser heat treatment research which is transformed by optical system, and the theoretical calculation results are compared with experimental results. It is shown that the formulas can be used to calculate the laser heat treatment temperature field accurately, and the calculation speed is obviously faster than the numerical calculation methods with the same precision. The calculation software can be used to select proper experiment parameters.

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an elementary non-mechanical beam aiming and steering system with a single liquid crystal optical phase array （LC-OPA） and charge-coupled device （CCD）. With the conventional method of beam steering control, the LC-OPA device can realize one dimensional beam steering continuously. An improved beam steering strategy is applied to realize two dimensional beam steering with a single LC-OPA. The whole beam aiming and steering system, including an LC-OPA and a retroreflective target, is controlled by the monitor. We test the feasibility of beam steering strategy both in one dimension and in two dimension at first, then the whole system is build up based on the improved strategy. The experimental results show that the max experimental pointing error is 56 μrad, and the average pointing error of the system is 19 ***.

We discuss theoretically how supercontinuum spectra produced from high-order harmonic generation processes in a synthesized same-color laser field is optimized by adjusting the chirp parameter of the controlling pulse. Furthermore, a 40-attosecond isolated pulse with an effective bandwidth of 121 orders is obtained from He＋ ion when the chirp rate ratio of pulses has a small value. The numerical results show that the efficiency of single as pulse generation is enhanced, and the quantum paths are controlled successfully. Our simulation shows that the produced pulses with high signal-to-noise ratio are obtained straightforwardly without any phase compensation. These results are explained using the classical approach.

In this letter, a new analytical method is presented to calculate of the semiconductor optical gain coefficient. This method is particularly suitable for theoretical analyses to determine the dependence of semiconductor gain on the total carrier density and temperature in the semiconductor lasers. Also, the optical gain functions for semiconductor optical gain coefficient are presented analytically. The analytical evaluation is verified with numerical methods, which illustrates the accuracy of these obtained analytical expressions.

A dual-wavelength fiber laser operating at the 1550 nm region using a side-polished arc-shaped fiber with deposited ZnO nanoparticles is proposed and demonstrated. The arc-polished fiber is fabricated by using a simple but novel approach in which a silicon carbide paper polishes one side of a conventional single-mode fiber. An arc-polished fiber with a length of 2.25 mm and an insertion loss of 0.95 dB is obtained and deposited with ZnO nanoparticles by the drop-cast method. A stable dual-wavelength output is obtained at 1562.5 and 1563.4 nm at peak powers of -9.3 and --10.1 dBm, respectively, as well as a signal-to-noise ratio of 28.4 dB and a channel spacing of 0.9 nm. Both lasing wavelengths also have narrow linewidths of between 0.045 and 0.049 nm and show little to no wavelength or power fluctuations over continued testing.

A set of two-dimensional （2D） binary codes are created by the calculation of the speckle contrast in line scan laser display system. According to the 2D binary code, phase plates are fabricated by etched glass or photoresist with different thicknesses corresponding to the code. It is introduced on the intermediate image plane to reduce speckle in laser based line scan display system. The experimental results show that the phase plate with the 2D binary code of order 5 can successfully reduce speckle contrast to 17.5%.

In this letter, a new single three-dimensional （3D） laser projector is proposed. As liquid crystal （LC） can produce two image patterns with orthogonal polarization states at 120 Hz, only one projector is required in this approach for reconstruction of a 3D object. The light source is made up of RGB （red, green, and blue） lasers because laser has lots of advantages such as longer life, higher brightness, and larger color gamut. A novel diffusive media with good polarization-maintaining quality is used as rear projection screen for its high transmission efficiency （-90%） and low reflection efficiency. When laser incidents into the diffusive media, which contains lots of spherical particles with sizes between 2 and 15 μm, laser is scattered randomly and the laser speckle is reduced. A spatial phase mask is also inserted into the optical path to reduce speckle. With these techniques, the speckle contrast is reduced to 0.1 and the quality of image oatterns has been greatlv imoroved.

A high power and good beam quality InGaAs/GaAs quantum well semiconductor disk laser at 1 015 nm wavelength is reported. The semiconductor wafer is grown in reverse order： substrate is on the window side and the distributed Bragg reflector is the last grown epilayer. Then the wafer is up-side-down and capillary bonded to a SiC heatsink, and the substrate is chemically etched. Because the total thickness of the substrate-removed structure is less than 10 #m, the thermal management of the laser is significantly improved, and the maximum output power over 0.6 W is obtained using a 3% output coupler and 3.2 W incident pump power. The M2 factors of 1.02 and 1.01 indicate a near-diffraction-limited beam quality. To further reveal the characteristics of this substrate-etched structure on the thermal management, the heat flux and the temperature distribution of the gain wafer are numerically analyzed, and the corresponding results are discussed.
