A numerical model is presented in this article to investigate the interactions between laser generated ultrasonic and the microdefects(0.01 to 0.1 mm),which are on the surface of the laser powder bed fusion additive manufactured 316L stainless ***,the influence of the transient sound field and detection positions on Rayleigh wave signals are *** interactions between the varied microdefects and the laser ultrasonic are *** is shown that arrival time of reflected Rayleigh(RR)waves wave is only related to the location of *** depth can be checked from the feature point Q,the displacement amplitude and time delay of converted transverse(RS)wave,while the width information can be evaluated from the RS wave time *** the aid of fitting curves,it is found to be linearly *** simulation study provides a theoretical basis for quantitative detection of surface microdefects of additive manufactured 316L stainless steel components.

laser ultrasonic technique has received increasing attentions in the past decade due to its contactless nature and a wide range of applications have been reported. In this review,applications of laser ultrasonic technique developed at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics(NUAA)as well as elsewhere for non-destructive testing in composite laminates are presented. The principles of generating and detecting in a laser ultrasonic system are introduced,three different system configurations are also introduced with each configuration’s advantages and disadvantages explained. More importantly,two major applications developed at NUAA for composite laminates are presented including damage detection,stiffness reconstruction and fatigue life prediction. Both applications are realized by a fixed-point PZT sensor and scanning pulse laser based on the linear reciprocal theorem. Analytical method and numerical models are employed and developed to realize the functionalities.

Study of mode transformation and energy attenuation of wedge waves with different apex angles by laser ultrasonic techniques

This research focuses on measuring the mode transformation and energy attenuation of wedge waves for different apex angle wedges by using laser ultrasound *** laser excitation and optical deflection beam methods for detection were used to measure the wedge *** experiment,various wedge waves at different locations were recorded by scanning the excitation laser along the wedge tip,and different orders of wedge waves were *** fixing the distance between the excitation and detection positions and scanning the samples along the direction normal to the wedge tip,the modes transformation process was *** was found that the energy of the acoustic waves for 20°,25° and 30° wedges decreased exponentially to a steady energy of Rayleigh wave within the main wavelength range of the acoustic modes,while the energy of acoustic waves of 45° and 60° wedge remained stable as the propagation line was scanned away from the wedge tip.

Noncontact laser ultrasonic methods are provided for nondestructive characterization of surface residual stress and thermally growth oxide（TGO）in thermal barrier coating（TBC）.Stress-acoustic coefficients of Rayleigh wave were used to characterize the surface residual stresses of TBC specimens which were prepared by electronic beam physical vapor deposition（EB-PVD）*** ultrasonic testing results of TBC specimens before and after oxidation with 1 time and50 times agree well with the corresponding Raman spectral ***,a physical mode of thin multi-layered structure is established for the case of received ultrasonic longitudinal waveform consisting of reverberant overlapping ***,the transform function of the mode was derived to evaluate the TGO in this *** experimental transform functions of TBC specimens above shows that the amplitude decreases at high order resonant frequencies with increase of TGO *** proposed methods are able to nondestructively characterize the local surface stress and TGO in TBC,and are important to practical engineering application.
