The toxicity of ginkgo kernel is a global concern,restricting its consumption as a medicinal food.This study focuses on eliminating the toxic components,specifically ginkgolic acid,from ginkgo kernel juice.The approach used was probiotic fermentation with autochthonous lactic acid bacteria combined with macroporous resin.Compared to using lactic acid fermentation alone,adding macroporous resin during probiotic fermentation significantly enhanced the removal of toxic ginkgolic acid and 4'-O-methylpyridoxine from ginkgo kernel juice.After 48 h of fermentation with macroporous resin,the contents of ginkgolic acid and 4'-O-methylpyridoxine decreased by more than 69%and 61%,respectively.Interestingly,the adsorption of microbial growth inhibitors,such as ginkgolic acid,4'-O-methylpyridoxine,and phenolics,by the resin did not hinder the growth of lactic acid bacteria or their metabolic activities involving organic acids and monosaccharides.The study further confirmed that microbial adsorption was the primary reason for removing ginkgolic acid during probiotic fermentation.Also,the adsorption mechanism of ginkgolic acid during probiotic fermentation with macroporous resin was explored.From a mass transfer perspective,incorporating macroporous resin during the probiotic fermentation of ginkgo kernel juice reduced the mass transfer resistance for surface diffusion.Consequently,this lowered the contribution of surface diffusion to the overall diffusion process and facilitated the efficient removal of toxic ginkgolic acid.This work can help to understand the physical mechanism regarding detoxification of ginkgo kernel juice by probiotic fermentation,and offer potential strategies to enhance the safety of ginkgo kernel products.

In this paper, we propose a multi-kernel multi-view canonical correlations(M2CCs) framework for subspace learning. In the proposed framework,the input data of each original view are mapped into multiple higher dimensional feature spaces by multiple nonlinear mappings determined by different kernels. This makes M2 CC can discover multiple kinds of useful information of each original view in the feature spaces. With the framework, we further provide a specific multi-view feature learning method based on direct summation kernel strategy and its regularized version. The experimental results in visual recognition tasks demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.

In 1965, Lu Yu-Qian discovered that the Poisson kernel of the homogenous domain S m,p,q={Z∈Cm×m, Z1∈Cm×p,Z2 ∈Cq×m|2i1( Z-Z+)-Z1Z1′-Z2′Z2>0} does not satisfy the Laplace-Beltrami equation associated with the Bergman metric when S m,p,q is not symmetric. However the map T0:Z→Z, Z1→Z1 , Z2→Z2 transforms S m,p,q into a domain S I (m, m + p + q) which can be mapped by the Cayley transformation into the classical domains R I (m, m + p + q). The pull back of the Bergman metric of R I (m, m + p + q) to S m,p,q is a Riemann metric ds 2 which is not a Khler metric and even not a Hermitian metric in general. It is proved that the Laplace-Beltrami operator associated with the metric ds 2 when it acts on the Poisson kernel of S m,p,q equals 0. Consequently, the Cauchy formula of S m,p,q can be obtained from the Poisson formula.

Linear Discrimiant Analysis (LDA) has demonstrated their success in face recognition. But LDA is difficult to handle the high nonlinear problems, such as changes of large viewpoint and illumination in face recognition. In order to overcome these problems, we investigate kernel Discriminant Analysis (KDA) for face recognition. This approach adopts the kernel functions to replace the dot products of nonlinear mapping in the high dimensional feature space, and then the nonlinear problem can be solved in the input space conveniently without explicit mapping. Two face databases are used to test KDA approach. The results show that our approach outperforms the conventional PCA(Eigenface) and LDA(Fisherface) approaches.

Objective:To evaluate the antibacterial activity of the methanolic extract of mango(Mangifera indica L) seed kernel.Methods:Chokanan mango seed kernel and seed kernels from assorted mango varieties were collected,cleaned,dried and powered.Crude methanolic extracts of mango seed kernel were analyzed for the phytochemical constituents.The free radical scavenging activity was determined by 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) assay.Antibacterial activity was evaluated by disc diffusion assay with three medically important bacterial pathogens such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)(MRSA),Escherichia coli(E.coli) and Vibrio vulnificus(V.vulnificus).Results:Qualitative phytochemical analysis indicated the presence of important phytochemical compounds such as glycosides,saponins,flavanoids, tannins and alkaloids.There was no significant difference in the phytochemical content between the single and assorted mango seed kernels.However,the free radical scavenging study indicated that the assorted mango kernels showed slighdy higher activity than the single species(Pkernel at a concentration of 100 mg/mL is found to have potential antimicrobial activity against MRSA and E.coli compared to V.vulnificus. Study on the antibacterial activity also indicated that there was no significant difference in the antibacterial activity of the single and assorted mango seed kernel extracts.Conclusions:The present study conclusively demonstrates the free radical scavenging activity and antibacterial activities of mango seed kernel.In addition,the results also indicated that there is no significant difference in the phytochemical content and biological activity of mango kernels from single and assorted mango varieties.
