Adsorption isotherm relates the gas storage capacity as a function of pressure at constant *** this paper,adsorption isotherm of two dry borehole samples was constructed in the laboratory using the manometric *** was measured for two gases,i.e.,CH4 and CO2 to pressure up to 8.4 *** the construction of sorption isotherm,coal was characterized by proximate,ultimate and petrographic *** gas content of these two samples was found 2.29 m3/t and 2.75 m3/*** images were obtained for the pore size distribution of coal using pore image *** of coalbed methane recovery from CH4 adsorption isotherm showed that these coalbeds are under ***2 isotherm was constructed to estimate enhanced coalbed methane(ECBM)*** wise CO2/CH4 sorption ratio was found 2.09 times to 2.75 times *** paper presents the interpretation of isotherm data to find the recovery factor of methane production from jharia coalfield.

Application of Cross-Plotting Techniques for Delineation of Coal and Non-Coal Litho-Units from Well Logs

Well log responses can be used to delineate coal and carbonaceous shale from other non-potential litho-units by cross-plotting technique. The cross-plotting between gamma ray and density had been carried out for 15 wells of jharia coalfield, India. Through these different cross-plots across the study area, different litho-units like;coal, shaly coal, carbonaceous shale, shale, sand/sandstone, shaly sand, jhama and igneous intrusion (mica peridotite) have been identified. Clustering of points for different lithologies in the above cross-plots indicate that the different trends with marginal overlap between carbonaceous shale/shaly coal and shale as well as shaly sand and shale. The coal horizons are mostly overlain and underlain by shale or sandstone. Cross-plot analysis indicates the various coal lithologies which will play important role in CBM exploration and exploitation strategy.

Assessing Domains in Quality of Life―A Case Study

Mining in India has developed haphazardly with a significant part of mining activities being informal or unauthorised. Open cast quarries, coal washeries, thermal power plants, coke-oven plants, etc., contribute to serious air and water pollution. The aim of this paper is to assess the QoL of residents living in jharia coalfield. In this study, QoL domains are analysed considering the social, cultural, environmental, health and economic condition of the study areas. A path model has been developed to analyse the cascading effect on domains. The purpose of investigating path model with overall quality of life was to contribute to the subjective wellbeing literature by analyzing the predictors of OQoL in the sample population. Therefore, OQoL was used as the dependent variable of a regression analysis using four domains as variables and leveraging path analysis method to arrive at the causal model.
