An extended jacobian elliptic function expansion method is presented and successfully applied to the nonlinear Schr?dinger (NLS) equation and Zakharov equation. We obtain some new solutions besides Fu et al's results. The results show that our method is more powerful to construct jacobian elliptic function and can be applied to other nonlinear physics systems.

This work reveals a novel phenomenon—that the localized coherent structures of a (2+1)-dimensional physical model possesses fractal behaviours. To clarify the interesting phenomenon, we take the (2+1)-dimensional higher-order Broer–Kaup system as a concrete example. Starting from a B?cklund transformation, we obtain a linear equation and then a general solution of the system is derived. From this some special localized excitations with fractal behaviours are obtained by introducing some types of lower-dimensional fractal patterns that related to jacobian elliptic functions.

Succinct and efficient method to obtain analytic solutions of nonlinear vibrations and nonlinear waves by jacobian elliptic functions are introduced. Important typical examples are given and explained, including simple pendulum, Duffing oscillator, cnoidal wave and solitary wave solutions of KdV equation, sine-Gordon equation, nonlinear Schrdinger equation, sech^2 profile solitons, kink and anti-kink solitons, breather, interaction of a kink and an anti-kink, and envelop solitons.

In this paper, the separation transformation approach is extended to the （N ＋ 1）-dimensional dispersive double sine-Gordon equation arising in many physical systems such as the spin dynamics in the B phase of SHe superfluid. This equation is first reduced to a set of partial differential equations and a nonlinear ordinary differential equation. Then the general solutions of the set of partial differential equations are obta/ned and the nonlinear ordinary differential equation is solved by F-expansion method. Finally, many new exact solutions of the （N ＋ 1）-dimensional dispersive double sine-Gordon equation are constructed explicitly via the separation transformation. For the case of N 〉 2, there is an arbitrary function in the exact solutions, which may reveal more novel nonlinear structures in the high-dimensional dispersive double sine-Gordon equation.
